Great show JEEM !! Lots of fun testing and seeing what carbon fiber does. We got some answers and more questions . That the fun part of testing and learning . We keep going ! That my favorite part of ham radio ! I have made the 25 FT vertical with 4:1 UNUN and ground radials . Works great ! From a smith chart I saw a resonate point in 26 MHZ below CB, So I did a fold back and twist .And I got a tune under 1.5 SWR on 10/11/12 meter bands making about a 5/8 wave resonant antenna . Worked super . World wide contacts. Once I got a tune of 1.1 SWR on 28.074 MHZ. So many FT8 contacts . I can see the resonate point changed with the carbon fiber mast to 6 meter band. 30DB ++ show !! Love the feedback from hollywood in the chat. Helping us understand the data. Tim and others were great as well. 73 and cheers from cold and snowy NY !
We might almost have snow here in Montgomery tomorrow. Bham and Huntsville will be blessed by the white scourge. We'll prolly only have cold rain and maybe some icing. Bad enough. Stay safe dude, and thanks for watching! PS - I love carbon fiber!
At 50:42 that plot screams a disconnected antenna at the far end. I would still expect to see some type of resonance dip somewhere like what you saw on the fibreglass pole. Maybe for a quick sanity check switch the antennas to make sure the kronos is ok? That being said, you did a wspr test and it seemed to be fine... I am not too familiar with plots of random wires, I work with fan dipoles, loops or OCF's. EDIT: It also looks like the coax to the carbon fibre is 3x long, and that wiggle nearly looks like 75 ohm cable.
Same exact cable, same exact antenna. Literally the only difference is the mast the Kronos is connected too. Both deployed in the exact same spot and same way.
Wow, an hour of Jeem and Ape. Very nice to see. I know CaHR keeps you both busy, but you should do this more often!

Great Live thanks guys
Walmart curbside pickup and delivery is a mess here too.

The resin in the mast might also be causing loss. I know epoxy on transformers can do wacky stuff.
