Beside all the items listed,it also comes with aluminum suspension hinge pin mounts, chassis support, different stand-offs and steering mount, ball bearings steering link, and hard suspension arms, definitely worth the additional cost.
Ari, I'm not a fan of the mint livery of the stock kit, however, the custom paint really sets this off in the best way I've seen; great build sir.
Thank you. Did you notice that I had 2 of the wheels on backwards.... I"m such a dope... LOL...
Came out great. I agree, there is nothing like building up a Kyosho rere.
Honestly this is the first one I have really liked. That paintjob looks amazing. Really sweet!
The older kits look so much better than all the generic new stuff.
It's a sign of the times. No creativity. Even Tamiya has suffered a little in that department. It was all down hill when 1/10 off road adopted aluminum chassis and cab forward bodies. Now 1/10 off road vehicles look like 1/8 gas buggies. U.G.L.Y.
Great video RC Retro, I was just going to go online to find a comparison video and there was yours, answered every question and thought I had with the modals.
So I pushed the subscribe button, thanks again!!!
Ralphie
You did a great job.
I don't know about US kits of the normal Optima Mid but i got universals, not dog bones as you mention
I think its worth it's money with the options especially. Kits of a similar style demand similar prices with similar options. Attach some terms like "limied" and "anniversary" then chuck in a few one off color parts and I'm sure it increasingly gets harder to scratch such a beauty.
Very nice Mid! Way too nice to run 👍 a little more expensive here in England sadly at £478 but think you’ve managed to persuade me to get one, in fact going to place my order now! 😊
Nice. Glad you're deciding to get one. You will not be disappointed.
Awesome job - looks great mate! I held off on getting one, but after seeing yours, I'm having second thoughts. 🤔
That's a very cool body color👍
I also got an Optima MID 87' world spec, but haven't built it yet.
I want to build after seeing your work🔧🪛
It's a piece of art. Love it. I'll have fun taking out my frustrations on my old Tamiya bashers
Beautiful. I fully agree about Kyosho re-re's. I have all of them except the pan car 60th. I can't bring myself to pay $700+ that's being asked on Ebay for that car. Fingers crossed for the Triumph.
They are a nice build to do. I like how the body came out with a mix of both styles and really is cool. None of the other anodized parts you can buy for this thing are remotely worth getting in my opinion as they are WAY too expensive. I went to go buy them all just to finish it off a bit more but spending half the price of the car again on some bling is stupid. Car here in Aus is $799 the grey option parts only are $455.
My local shop has one and I'm wanting it, problem is....I bought the white one before the word's was released. I bought all the option House parts, I mean all, dual ball diff, Titanium rods, carbon upper and lower decks and 2 sets of universal drive shafts fron and rear, aluminum hubs, all the extra bearings etc. I even picked up the Lemans 240speed control and the 240 Gold brushless motor. I can tell you from experience buying the world's is a cheaper way to go. They only thing that pissed me off is that it's impossible getting parts for this car. I had an original Optima mid se back in the day and raced it for years and regretted selling, so this was my chance right! I've bought and extra belt and tires, body. Unfortunately I wish Kyosho released more parts. I might still get the world's just because the Mid is my favorite car from the era, even over my Kyosho Lazer ZXR. I do agree Kyosho is definitely a cut above, the fit and finish, the over all quality is just outstanding! We just need more parts lol. Mine is probably going to be a shelf queen for the most part, but I do want to stretch it's legs once and a while.
Great video, Cheers!
I am in the same boat with SE. I raced one as a kid and just picked one up and am doing some minor fixes to make it like new. I even got the box and manual with it. It is hard to find certain things for them. Bodies, tires etc. I have ordered those from Marwan but takes a long time to get stuff from middle east. I have the white 22 rere and still in the box. I thought EXO conversion kit would be a nice way to spruce that up if I ever build it.
For the era, kyosho is and will always be light years ahead of tamiya. Best re re buggies as well!
I wish kyosho would re release nitro kits.
Man that turned out awsome, nice to see a twist on the box art 👍 i kind of agree Kyosho have the edge in rere kits, but i was dissapointed with the 870c schumacher are right up there, for shelf queens, there a bit cheaper, but if your a serious racer, they have the upgraded transmission. I was dissapointed with the mid as the diffs will strip easyly unless you run a lot of slip. Or pop in the gear diffs and its bullet proof.
Love the paint scheme! Looks way better than box art. Having built the Re-release Optima Mid I agree...these kits are top notch. The only issue with these buggies is installing modern electronics. Great build and I love the way it turned out.
Looks great. Nice build 👍
Awesome buggy! Body came out great!
Love the video!! Do you know if there’s gonna be a rerelease of the TOMSE?
nice build man.
This is on my want list
Raced mine a few times ball diff didn't last long. Changed to the gear diff and shorter optima belt. Only rear suspension broke after a day on the grass. Good buggy came 6th against modern day buggies.
Looks fantastic bro. Nicest I have seen!
Looks awesome great colour scheme 👍 I’ve been after on of these since the release and just know purchased one after some hard saving!! Thanks for sharing
That car came out really nice Ari. Paint scheme really hits the mark too. Thanks for sharing this content with us.
Such a nice paint job!
Awesome...looks great. Love the paint. You need to swap the RF and LR wheels.
Turned out beautiful. ❤️
Looks great!
Looks amazing 👍 The boxart variation body completes it perfectly 😊
Looks really good!
Yep this buggy is amazing. I built an Optima turbo with the gold bling after this and it just doesn't compare. The Mid is superior in every way.
The Turbo Optima is a gorgeous metal artwork but this is a vintage race weapon.
I hear the paint if you want it box art is very hard to duplicate.
Yes it is and I didn’t want to deal with that headache. Plus I didn’t like the box art layout. So I used the same colors just a different paint scheme.
Paint looks mint 😊
Great Job, came out 🔥🔥🔥
I have an optima MID re-release and thought about buy-in one of these. As you mentioned, it is expensive. Which is why I did not get one. However, you also mentioned the optional parts which makes this a more interesting kit to get. I think you can still buy one of these even though it is a limited edition. Thoughts?
100% i mean i love my OptimaMid, but i wish i got this instead! :)
It looks fabulous!! I love the paint job and the buggy itself without the body looks great too. I skipped this one as it was a bit too pricey and I had not connection to it but it does look like a very top shelf kit! I also agree the Kyosho legendary kits go together so nicely and it something doesn't fit or line up then you know you did something wrong as they click together like Legos!!
Such a beautiful buggy!
How’s the house coming along Ari?? Hope you’re all doing well
Work is actually gonna start this week… Insurance has been dragging their ass
That is pricey! But it looks soo good!
Hey I like the paint job, is there any pros out there who can paint mine to match?
Would purchase one of these toys but i don't think I would be able to put it together.
Have you built other RC's before? If yes, why not this one?
@@RCRetro always interested to do so but I'm never get into it.
Love the body. Have you got contact details of custom Rc graphics please?
kustomrcgraphics@aol.com
Can a sand viper body fit on a td2? I heard they can
Vary nice buggy. I to think Kyosho does the best at re-release.
Are you gonna run it in the deep woods?Racewayou have done any of those videos on that.
I think you need to swap the left rear and right front wheels, they are the wrong way around 👍
I am such a dope! Initially I had them the right way on then took them off to do the white letter righting and put them back on before filming the end and had them on wrong. Damn it. Thanks for letting me know. I"m sure I'll get a tone of comments and be ridiculed in the RC community LOL 🤣
Prefer the 870c re release
Not feeling it, sorry.
I would love a re-release of Tamiya's TRF 1/10 4WD buggies.
