Great to see these EMC's here in a mini-review. And good to hear that they actually might be improved over the original releases. I do got The New Quartet (original German pressing) but do not got that Old and New Dreams yet. Good release to contribute my 200+ ECM collection with. Thank you.
Fantastic backdrop of the new shelving Michael. Nice to hear great reissues are still being produced. ECM a legendary label. Love the jacket of the Sonny Clarke, always surprises me how cool these jazz album jackets are. I like the look of the dark ambient record Thx for sharing Michael, take care 😎
Great review Michael! Loving the shelves and SOOOOOO excited for the Sonny Clark poet since January!!! Keep watching the shipping ID, cannot wait to clean & listen! 🎉😊
Last week I bought as „blind takes“ 2 of the 5 releases you have just shown, and coincidentally they are your 2 favs. You are right. They are definitely worth taking shelf space :-)
So happy to see you give so much praise to Old And New Dreams. A phenomenal record, easily one of my favorite recent purchases . And my only pick-up from the new Luminessence series so far.
Another great video! Is the Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement, is the title Green Graves? I streamed that one after watching this. Fantastic! Reminded me of Paul Schutze.
Always enjoy hearing about ECM and the process. The highlight for myself is the Tone Poet Blue Notes and the reissues. Sounds like some great records ! So enjoy the description of the RSI - Dark Ambient sounds like it deserves some listening time. The OG shelves look great, and a nice addition to your video.
Hey Michael Great show Hope you're doing well my friend by the way I got the new Depeche mode on the red vinyl it's in the mail can't wait I was talking to jorgen the other day he also just ordered the new Depeche mode the other day. a caddy for Daddy one of my favorite titles and favorite covers awesome record
Michael, looking forward to your listening impressions of the new OJC release of ‘Waltz for Debby,’ which I spun this morning and was astounded by the sonics, dead quiet vinyl and immersive emotional depth of the music Kevin Grey musters from the source material; equal to if not more impressive than the AP 45rpm version.
I'm not sure about the Don Cherry release. The ECM website states: 'Many of the re-issues are cut from the original analog master tapes and all Luminessence releases incorporate the striking cover art which has contributed to ECM’s renown.' I can't see any reference on the Don Cherry release that this is one of the 'Many of the re-issues' that are 'cut from the original analog master tapes'. Neither on the relevant page on the ECM website, nor on the copy in my local record store. Seems fishy to me. At least with Mofi, you know what the digital step is. ECM come across less transparent here, but if anyone can point me to something more reassuring, I'd consider buying this.
Thank you for the review Michael. Do you know whether the recent Tone Poet reissues (Chet Baker Sings, The Rajah, The Kicker etc.) will be available in Europe or not?
I like ECM but my only beef with the label is the change of the ECM logo, from the large logo in silver against the green background to the current one.
Well that was a surprise on the Green Graves as I listen to some ambient but never heard of him. However, I found the compilation of the older titles, Water Witches (bandcamp ftw) to be more my taste as it is a bit more unnerving. thanks Also, I need to stop watching these as I seem to order a couple releases each time. I went with Sonny Clark and D Redman this round.
Awesome vid. Quick question Michael, since the other Mike left, are you still a fan of that sleeve company? I just bought some inner sleeves from them. Curious if you've found a better source or they're still your choice. Cheers.
Michael, have you picked up any of the new Original Jazz Classic Series titles? The first one I purchased was the Bill Evans Waltz for Debby and was very pleased. I was curious on your thoughts. So many good titles being released lately it is hard to keep up!
@@Michael45RPM It would be great to get into this a bit more to understand your reservation. A friend showed me Michael Fremer’s article saying the Waltz for Debby is the best version ever released on record. I hope the same will be true of Sunday at the Village Vanguard. All the best - Robert.
I just receive my copy of Old and new dreams and I'm confused . The new version is more lively but much too high pitch for my taste, my original copy is more deep , more musical, really I don't know what to thnk about this ré-edition.
The ECM series is not AAA. Their statement: In the capable hands of mastering engineer Christoph Stickel, the process begins with the original, analogue stereo master tapes. The masters are in excellent condition and can be played without problems. All tapes are played by a Studer A820, which is meticulously calibrated to the respective tape. The analog signal is then digitized in 96kHz/24-bit, which covers the complete spectrum of the original tapes. In each case, a decision is made between a PrismSound ADA-8XR, an Antelope Eclipse Mastering AD, and a Mytek Brooklyn ADC, depending on which one is suited best for the respective recording. No de-noising and no other restoration affecting the sound is applied. Their process is worse than MOFI.
Can’t wait for the pysch episode, forget that boring jazz! Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Great video Michael!
Thank you so much. Have a wonderful one
Great new visual environment with the new shelves! I love ECM and have some titles I bought back in the late 70s, early 80s. Wonderful music.
Fantastic backdrop of the new shelving Michael.
Nice to hear great reissues are still being produced.
ECM a legendary label.

The ECM series is killing it. Love all these reissues. Rare psych…..yes please.
You never cease to surprise me Michael (in a good way)

Caddy For Daddy !! Great release / love this album & its line up.
it might come a little short in this video.. if so sorry Jimmy :-)

The Green Graves recommendation is incredible and works so well as Sound Therapy for my tinnitus. Thank you ❤
Glad you like it Shaking :-)

Thx Daniel :-9
I love that cool car (1967 DeVille?) on the Hank Mobley jacket. Cadillac was once the dream car of many Americans, now not so much.
Thanks Michael! If I may, I’d love to watch you talking about the late Ryuichi Sakamoto’s last album “12”. Thanks!

Waiting for Coltrane/Dolphy‘s Evenings at the Village Gate on Friday. Could be interesting, too.

wow thats a statement .. its rare that a 33 beats a 45 are you really sure?
@@Michael45RPM I know! If not beats, then very close. Bottom line: it’s great! I’ll look forward to your opinion.
Hi Michael how far away is your new Turntable? Really miss you from Rachel’s channel hope to see you back there again soon
i hope to get him within the next 2 weeks Robert

Is the new shelf where the couch used to be? Where will the dogs hang out?
the couch is still in front of the shelf... so all good with the boys :-)

i would think so

That description is for a new set of downloads they just released. It is not for the vinyl series.
