Great video, Che. I hope you'll make more long videos in the future. My philosophy is that videos should be however long they need to be. People shouldn't pad videos out with filler, but they also shouldn't cut out necessary stuff to keep them short either. Some topics just really do need long videos to cover properly and you shouldn't hold back. The nice thing about long videos also is they get more watch time and I think this is something that's supposed to matter a great deal in youtube's algorithm.

One thing I like about this game's system is the separation of looks from charisma. Because they really aren't the same thing and lots of rpgs do just lump them together into the charisma attribute.

This game is absolutely great and does not pull any punches racism, sexism, conspiracies everything is explored to the fullest plus main villain with his philosophy and gnome questline just completely shocked me, one of the kind game in which you will suffer regardless of who or how you play
Great work, makes me so happy to see an in-depth video on this game. It might be my favourite game ever, and by far the one I've replayed the most. More so than Skyrim or even Fallout 2.
1:03:28 Heeeeyy! See Content is an awesome spell! I played strictly good wizard (no Dark Nec/Harm) and I finally found that book that damn Ogre wanted! The lore gets better if you play a powerful wizard, that won't hurt the dude, but knows what's hidden in the chest behind him. Those spells are there for replaying role playing. You know the dude's evil, because of the previous 100 times you rerolled, but now you can fit the narrative (Sense Alignment) and appreciate that that one dude you met at the pub is planning to stab you in the back. Those useless spells add a lot to the story and the rp part of rpg
Arcanum is a game that has caused a lot of real life anomalies. I'd have nightmares of being put into isometric RPG game styles. I used to record cryptid conversations, and get spirit photos. That was an anomaly too, or it'd have gone better. They weren't screaming in pain as if summoned to Arcanum. lol. Anyway, the game deserves a remake, hopefully with a similar art style.
A Flawd gem. I believe that the excitement of being able to work independently on a new game made them bite off more than they could chew. A smaller in scope, bur more focused game, would have been better IMO. Same with Masquerade.

Arcanum really is that classic example of an extremely flawed game that I still love to bits and will defend to the very end. I really should replay it sometime in the near future. It's a shame we never got to see a follow-up. I would have loved to see another entry in this series, set in the same world, with the same gameplay style and focus character customization, but with a much more polished and in-depth turn-based combat system.
I loved the hell out of this game, but it was hell to run, too! I rolled a female Elf who hated technology, and it always amazed me how the game gives you the freedom to play that way!
I am doing pretty well .. I appreciate the concern ..just some bumps along the way but I'm working on a new video ..should be out by the end of the months
Just finished this for the first time recently and I have to say I really enjoyed it despite myself. The unofficial patch does a great job making it a relatively bug free experience, I only got one quest breaking bug for the master persuasion quest not being able to turn it in right at the very end which was frustrating but I was playing an earlier version of the patch not the new 2.0 version. The only thing this game really needs now is a complete overhaul of the combat system, it's great in theory but unbalanced in practice. Everything else I loved, the setting, the lore, the music which is one of my favorite tracks ever. Might be recency bias but I found myself loving it even a bit more than the first two Fallout games (New Vegas still the king for me).
Read Aura is a higher level spell than Sense Alignment, so it makes sense for it be more powerful. Also, with Read Aura you do see everything about a character.
Still haven't found a game with setting like Arcanum. If someone know about games with steampunk-but-still-magical setting it'll be appreciated (not sure if FF6 counts though).

I made my archer ugly as heck with that lol .. idk why with the archer but why not!... wait i know why cause of those archers in ashbury castle. .thats how i got my revenge I love the circus ..in another life I was born in one
@@RetrospectiveGaming I myself enjoyed that background, bonus to strength is just to good if you plan to go pure melee fighter I actually had a funny moment mid-endgame after maxing Melee I went to magic to get teleportation but I could not since I had penalty on Willpower and level up cap on individual stat was 12 meaning I manually can add only 12 points into it (8+12=20) and because of -3 on willpower I could get it only up to 17 which means unless I get a blessing or something else I could not us lv 5 spells which need 18 willpower
I wish journey to the center of arcanum was a thing The world in this one was so fleshed out and so many ideas were cool but i really couldnt bring myself to enjoying it as much as fallout because so many of them werent very well implemented and in general it just left that weird taste in my mouth
That would have been interesting .. I read somewhere that they were planning on using the source engine for it ... I wish we got it .. Maybe one day we get at least a spiritual successor
I was in college when this came out. I was so excited for it. ... and then, the combat. After the infinity engine games, the combat here felt like such a let down. Otherwise the game was enjoyable.
