I have watched this bit many, many times. Every once in a while, like tonight, I will think about this and come to it on TH-cam and still just laugh my butt off. Mr King was very funny.
My wife and I went on our honeymoon to Las Vegas in April, 1982. We saw Alan King at the Riviera. He did this in his act. We were sitting in the front, and he asked my wife to read from the newspaper article he showed her. Mary Lou passed in November, 2015.
I saw him do this bit in Las Vegas in about 1974. Just hilarious. I was also at the Friars Club in NYC where Alan had a routine prepared to deliver in front of Ted Turner who was being honored. However, Ted left before Alan could deliver the routine. Alan got on stage and cursed Ted out with language that could have made Red Foxx blush.
From Alan King's Wiki page (and, you just know that he expected it and had a sense of humor knowing it would say it,) "He was survived by his wife-appropriately a theme of one of his most famous routines-Jeanette Sprung, whom he married in 1947, and their three children" Even though I have no personal knowledge of them, I'm guessing Mr. King would been feeling bereft had it been the other way. R.I.P. and thanks for all the Final Warnings, Sir.
Wow the obituary of Ludwig Heinrich Edler von Mises, the founder of the Austrian School of Classical free market Economics, who died when he was 92 is one of those obituaries! ..... survived by his wife! But only by a few months. She also died in 1973 like him.
No one delivered a line quite like King. He was one of the Classiest, smartest, funniest speakers I have ever had the privilege of hearing.
Alan King never failed to make me laugh. Sadly, he died in 2016. He was survived by his wife.
Haha, he was right! R.I.P Mr King
@@belleepoque2544: Hahahaha!!!! 😅😂 lol 😂 !!! Soooo true …!! ❤❤❤❤
I still love his humor. Died in 2004.
Omg..I laughed So hard

One of the all-time great stand-ups and a very fine actor. An extremely clever bit.

Prince Philip age 99, survived by his wife.
Recognized that voice immediately as Steven Reign in Rush Hour 2.
Who is the man who was 104 from Cedar Rapids, fought in the Spanish American War, Boxer Rebellion, WW I etc?
Just the facts
His obituary said the same thing survived by his wife
Just means men marry younger
I thought the same thing...

Does anyone know how to purchase this routine? Survived by his wife? I did purchase one on amazon but it did not have the survived one by alan. Thanks
Very funny! If only men didn't marry women who are 10 or 20 years younger it'd almost be true.
Exactly...
Old Jewish Comics..........the BEST
