Those "buckets" are actually made for that purpose. There stands for the maintenance crew when they take the engine out. I was a gunner on the Leopard 2A5.

(I believe the gyro came in 1991 at least here in Norway, however it wasn't fully introduced until 1992 or 1993) Sweet times, except for belt changes on ice filled with wet mud, in a ditch! ;)

this engine is a very strong duable and powerfull with few problems. This powertrain weights about 6500 kg. when the cooling fans goes in 4000 rpm and more they take about 300 horsepowers from the engine witch has 1500 hp.. plz ask if people need more info about the powertrain

47,6 liter på 12 sylindre i V formasjon, med andre ord 3.96liter pr sylinder hvilket er 4,4 Ford øko motorer (900cc) pr sylinder! :) De store firkantede sakene på toppen er kjølevifter til radiatoren osv. Vi hadde en slik ut av vogna og inn igjen på la oss si under en halvtime, jeg husker ikke eksakt men det gikk sabla fort :)

The Leopard PRTL had a 'small' Mercedes diesel to drive the on-board generator, main engines for all Leopards were MTU as far as I can remember.
