    Loved the video, so relaxing! I found a heap of those little ointment jars on our last dig too. I'm planning on making candles with them. I'd take them off your hands lol! :)

    As I was watching your vid my youngest lad (who lives in Sheffield) sent me a pic of some crockery, glass etc that he dug up while doing the garden, he always said he had zero interest in Dads hobby of bottle digging but I’m not so sure 🤔😁

    Those ointment jars look like they would make cute votive candle holders.

    Another great dig Tom and some nice bits coming up again. Such a shame those little pots have no prints on them still. I have a feeling one will turn up for all your efforts on that tip

    I really wish you could get a spotter, that looks dangerous as hell. I like the little pots your digging up for mixing paints and to wash brushes, but they are not worth the risk you take buddy! I am genuinely scared for you.

    Hi Tom, do you every sell the bottles you dig up? I'm sure you have answered this a few times. But I would love to get a bunch of those plain ointment jars to use for my wedding.

    It amazes me why some seams are like that it's like they save up all the sauce bottles,ointments,polishes and then dump in a job lot ,my money's on hotels..at least where I'm digging great stuff Tom

    Well, Tom, maybe I'm weird, but I rather like the little ointment pots! Easy to say when I'm not the one under that mountain of soil, though! You found a good poison and an interesting commemorative cup, anyhow! Nice video, please be careful!

    I guess that back in the day, someone suffered from a skin condition and got a bit of relief from that cream. There is something to be said for modern medicine. Can you imagine having eczema or psoriasis with no relief?

    Theres a tip I dig that is identical to this with the stream/brook below and dodgy banks that want to bury you every time you dig it, but a few miles away in London area. Had some nice bits of that tip over the years.

    I have never seen anyone go after delicate old bottles with a pitch fork before..that's crazy.

    • @bottlediggertom
      @bottlediggertom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using a cokeing fork means there's less surface area in the ash digging the bottles out
      Actually using a long flat chopping blade ( a shovel ) is crazy

    • @annrae8390
      @annrae8390 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen other people in other videos using a hand trowel , and gently remove layers of the dirt or ash so they don't break anything but hey I guess you know what works best in your area..i just hope you're safe under that falling dirt.

  • @liamcraddock9539
    @liamcraddock9539 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got a similar situation on a '30s top except it's embossed jar lids instead of ointments. Dug about 30 to 40 of them out of one hole and they're just the ones I've kept because they're not broken

    I'm in a dump smaller to that one. to deep , very difficult to dig and few bottles to show for it.

    No beers or minerals turning up, looks heavily scavenged, but you just don't know in tips like that, I bet there'll be something good in there somewhere 👍

    Well, unsubbing now as I would rather watch an uplifting video like Adventure Archaeology ( even when he doesn't find anything) than someone whining all the time. You should take a look at a good video for bottle diggers.
