I didn't catch the match live, but watched the whole thing but still super impressed by the levels and the talents of the players.

@23:22 is Panga's favorite level "ever" haha, if anyone was wondering. I didn't hear Panga say it while watching the video, so I wasn't sure which one was his favorite. Cool level :)
Carl did a video a month or two ago that goes over the mechanisms for the teleporting. Something to do with adding and deleting tracks, and undoing commands a bunch of times. It essentially shoots a launcher across the screen at instant speed, which is why you get pushed.
This level only uses one broken track though. The main glitch is completely different to what you're talking about

I made a live comment in the Twitch chat that it was patented Panga cheese. I don't know how he manages to accidentally cheese an SGDQ race but all those lives lost in endless expert finally paid off.

Carl had a video a while ago with the tech for the spring detector (three years ago at this point gosh) but the gist of it is that when a spring falls onto a shell, having a Spring, a POW block, or a P switch above the spring causes the shell to move in a different direction than otherwise. The contraption I believe is using that tech, but in a way where its repeatable infinitely and triggers an on/off switch with janky collision. It's one of the uh, weirder quirks of Mario Maker.
Did watch the event live, it was awesome. Panga did really well, he’s hard on himself. LilKirbs was on another planet though, felt like every run he could clutch the entire level.

If you're interested in how the portal level works, check out Carl's playthrough of Super Wagon World, which I believe is (one of?) the first usage of the glitch. In short though (at least from my understanding), it uses broken tracks to teleport a POW block which pushes Mario with it.
Shojo was an absolute monster this GDQ, like last year. I'm glad to see that she got a ton of fans and support.

That was such an insane one shot you had of the final section in my level. Also I’m sorry you did not deserve what happened at the end but it made for some very good content.

ok, I think the reason why Panga jumped into the lava in that one level with the on/off is that he felt it would swap when he jumped because in most lvls with on/off switching you usually jump and then it switches but the whole lvl was about taking dmg and then it switches but I can see why he would forget with probably being nervous and haveing muscle memory of jumping and it switching.
Ah dangit, was hoping he'd be able to show the portal mechanism caus that one seems really cool
It's crazy to think that a team consisting of Thab, Panga and Aura could lose in a SMM2 race! People have been upping their game. Especially Shojo. I'd like to see Royru join one of these races one day.
There's insanely good players out there but only a few of them are also good streamers...

I'm still quite curious as to how the switch state power-up level works. I looked it up in viewer a few days ago and recreated the mechanism almost exactly (from what I can tell in the level viewer the cannon is attached to the spike trap and also facing up, which is normally impossible, so I guess it's an editor glitch? I got exactly as far as Panga did.) but since I couldn't 100% recreate it, it didn't work. But still, looking at how it's supposed to work, it doesn't make sense.
Ceave did a video on it - I think it's called the "Giant Gap"
@@adamhoughton9516 I found that, and it's quite cool, but it doesn't explain what this level uses. The comments on the video say that this is limited to mario maker 1 and doesn't actually work in Mario Maker 2 not to mention the level does not use pow blocks or springs.
I'm sure in a vague way it's similar in concept (information storage on how things spawn) but again, no idea how it works in this scenario.

Day 362 of posting a cool animal fact:
Scorpions do a mating dance! Out of all the animals you'd expect to have a fancy courtship ceremony, the scorpion seems rather unlikely but it's true! Male scorpions will grab female scorpion's claws in theirs and then sting them with their venom! The purpose of this is debated but whatever it does, it seems to seduce the ladies! Then while they procreate, they move in a rhythmic motion almost like they're dancing! Quite romantic, except for the whole stinging part.
Also one last thing, we're 3 days away from *a whole year* of animal facts! Give me suggestions for what I can do to make it special.

That 3dworld mask level was totally garbage for the race. I just fast forwarded. Not necessary to have no checkpoints, you can always include a mask check. Way too hard to be fun

I mainly watch Ryu Thab and Poo and Panga don't watch alot of the others in gdq I know I'm missing out but I also know between Thab and Panga going slow is non existent when doing levels which to me adds to the why where you Russian your not Russian lol hope this joke sticks and glad you guys had fun.

Panga has been working on a level for almost 8 years. He started it when MM1 first came out but he had such great designs for it and never finished it and instead re-created the entire thing in SMM2 and began working on it again, using the new parts and overhauling it. He's going to release it the day SMM3 comes out.

Yeah, it's a glitch. As far as I understand it basically fires an invisible cannon at you that pushes you through the screen

How does Nintendo detect a use of glitch in a level? If there is an automatic tool, why don't they apply it when a level is clear-checked so that a glitchy level cannot be uploaded from the first place?

Mario Maker 2 is dead. Everything that can be done HAS been done. There are no more good levels either streamers settle for “this was creative”.
