As a violist, contrary to the comments other violists make, I quite love double stops and cool syncopation and challenging rhythms! I’d gladly take the viola part for great harmonies over melody any day! (Just please never give me waltzes- I really don’t like waltzes)
Thank you for sharing this awesome arrangement and performance. My Chamber Music students found this and would like to perform this duet. Would it be possible to get a copy of the sheet music?
You must have had fun arranging this! I quite enjoyed the opening section. You kept the flow of the chord structure which I quite liked. My only comment is that the tempo marking of 88 BPM is much too fast. If I play the video sped up 25%, that’s only about 84 BPM. The performance speed is closer to 66 to the dotted quarter! Of course this is only an issue for a student, and hopefully the teacher would be able to correct it. It just doesn’t hurt to have those little editorial details!
For something simple like this it doesn't matter too much. @lorijensen3215 don't worry about it as long as the rhythm is notated appropriately. It could be safely written as triplets in 4/4 or 2/4 and would sound exactly the same performed by a competent musician, which you clearly are! Well done :-)
@@ohnoitsalobo You're completely wrong, the comment was made in good intention and you're ruining it by trying to pointlessly one-up it by giving genuinely horrible advice. Shame on you.
@@lorijensen3215I have to tell you that after a lot of research, I took your notes to present my audition on wednesday with my violin teacher who will play the viola. I totally agree! There’s fun in every part of music (except waltzes 😆).
As a violist, I am so sad that us violas never get the melody and I wish we could just be the lead for once.
I agree. But at least we get the C string, right? 😉
@@lorijensen3215 I guess
@@sarahchao2634 I agree though. Viola repertoire is limited compared to other instruments. It’s a shame.
please take lead, us violins dont want it. i prefer how viola sounds anyways, you guys are so underrated

You're welcome. :)
As a viola player I am upset that I never get to play the melody so I would just drown out the violin with raw C string.
Haha, right? 😂 I have some arrangements with some melody in the bottom part but I haven’t recorded them yet.
Really bro just because you chose an instrument without a lot of melody doesn’t mean you can drown out the melody because your jealous
I can play the violin, I just don't have one
Didn’t say you couldn’t just said don’t ruin the performance because your selfish enough to drown out the melody
@@c4clipz95Easy for a melody player to say! I say we C-string havers unite to drown out the melodies in a rising C-tide!

It's not in 6/8 the time signature is wrong. It's in 12/8, with double the note values.
Oh yeah, that makes sense. I wasn’t going off of the official score. Thanks!

I agree. There’s another medley video out there with viola melody. th-cam.com/video/VMMheCbJ6l4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bPImfgIA866kJQis
I have a question, at the slightly faster time how many bpm does it go?
I had it written at 80 for a dotted quarter note but I think I played it slower. More like 72. Hope that helps.
Thank you!!
Could I have the sheet music?

just a question is this in first position or second position?
It’s mostly in first position. I did shift in a few places (like the Andante section) to avoid string crossings.
is it possible to get the parts separately?
Sure, I’ll upload them soon.
Done. They’re linked in the description. 😊

Why the viola be mad out of tune
As a violinist, get carried.
Haha, right?
Why tf do u gotta rub it in our faces? I’m glad that as a violinist you get to play lots of melodies but why go out of you way to say “get carried”
