Awesome videos of your sagas to (yet again) get to Glen Helens, & congrads on yet another win Ike~! You always inspire everyone you meet. We met up in Canada during the early 2000`s when you used to bring your Motocross school up here when it got real hot down there, you had your YZ250f & I had a YZ250 2-smoker. You got me a bunch of time to help out on the track for your school (as well as obviously helping me out when you found a minute or 2) too, but maybe you don`t remember. I was the guy who started up riding & racing after 20 years out of the saddle & got faster every single ride. I was about 2-3 years back into it by then. I still remember you told me to go down there to Glen Helen & try to qualify for the Over-40 & said I had a great chance to do real well (if I didn`t spill it in a corner, lol), ..well....`bout a month before I had the chance I had a nasty/fluky spill up here @ RJ`s & had a(n undiagnosed) broken leg & missed going down for that race, & had to sell my bike, but I`m back now again thanks to hearing about you, your inspiring vids, & a buddy who got a big KX450F & needed me to help with the bike @ the track this year~! I still might give you guys a visit, but like last time, it might take a few years first eh~! ....Cheers & all the best from up in Canada,....& here`s to wishing you win the over-80 as well~! ....You ARE ....THE MAN~!

Brilliant Ike, long way from SA boet. You’re a true inspiration, just like my good friend back in South Africa, Rod Bergstrom, he’s also still going strong at almost 70. Brilliant adventure guys, great to watch.

That’s awesome! This is one of my goals. I normally race harescrambles and enduros but I would like to throw my hat in and try motocross. Good job guys.

JK what is cool about this track honestly, the way they have it set up is that guys that have a strong background like you do well. The jumps are rolled over and you would probably do well because the track gets very torn up over the day. And you would probably do well with those hills.

MotoHQ Channel thanks. I come from Kansas and we have great dirt out here, there are some sandy areas but where I race is mainly Missouri and Kansas, I’m headed to New Mexico to race with some friends next year in the WEBE series (off-road) there old 50 plus MX guys getting into off road racing. It will be interesting. How was your suspension set up? Soft, hard etc looked like a rough track. I only ask because we have big jumps out here, loamy dirt. Thanks again and great job.

Everything was soften up a bit and the slowed down. The jump faces developed kickers on them and holes on the back sides, so you didn't want the suspension to react to quickly. Also a lot of big breaking bumps with edges on them developed every where so we needed the suspension to absorb that. The faster riders could get up on the breaking bumps like whoops but I couldn't. You really had to choose your line and looking back at the video, I can see where I could have changed my line in several places and made things a lot smoother. As I watched the video I asked myself several times... Why didn't I ride over there and not take that rough line every time.

Ike DeJager this is good to know. I have rewatched some races and have said the same thing, this sport is the Best, I raced a harescramble few weeks ago, it was Hell, muddy rocky , wet roots every where. I ended up in 4th my buddy who is 60 was in 8th there was a huge turn out for the 40plus group we were covered in mud and wet after the race and had the biggest smiles. We teased some of our friends who have the latest and greatest KTMs and Huskys and how we passed them on Old Honda CR 250s I love this sport , Ike I was watching your story and am so impressed on how you did. Thanks again for sharing.

Curious to what happen to the YZ250? All that work you guys invested and it didn't make the trip...?

So, interesting story on the YZ. It had a crack in the frame up at the head on the left side. We got it welded to see if it would hold, but after one ride on it the crack showed back up right in the center of the new weld. I'm gonna help Mark put a new frame on it soon. We learned that some years and only a few of these bike frames got sent to Mexico to be welded and this was happening to them. At least what the folks at Brewer Cycles stated.
