More Anneke and her solo project and project of her band as The Gathering,The Gentle storm or Vuur. You will love it.

Beautiful indeed, one of the best duets out there! Gotta love their stage synergy.
Speaking of which, have you heard WT's song "Paradise" with Tarja yet? The live version at M'era Luna 2016 is something else.

Sharon's guest and friend Anneke was the one to inspire scores of female lead singers to front metal bands in the 90s and 00s after Anneke paved the way with The Gathering from 1995 to 2007. Sharon, Simone and Floor were among those.
You could fill an entire day of the week with a weekly 'Anneke' day for at least a year if you're interested in where she came from, and where she all was and is to this day. It's all annique vocal splendour anyway. To start of on an Anneke journey, this video may offer the best entry for a first reaction:
    th-cam.com/video/Y46Lft_BZxo/w-d-xo.html
Travel is from The Gathering's 3rd album with Anneke 'How to Measure a Planet' (1998). And this performance is done in their 25th anniversary concerts in 2014, with Anneke in (emotional) overdrive showcasing one of her and the band's best songs (albeit it's merely one among the scores of musical gems they produced together). At the end you'll see other singers and band members join in for the closing harmonies. After that, you may be interested in checking that full concert (going from doom metal to trip rock and anything in between), or their 2005 'A Sound Relief' concert, which won them and her various awards.
Next to The Gathering and her huge range of solo work, Anneke is best known for her collaborations with Devin Townsend and Arjen (Ayreon) Lucassen. Those are very renown musicians in their won right and worthy of another day of the week for a full year. Just to tickle your senses in some first reactions to their work, here's two suggestions:
'Grace' by The Devin Townsend Project: th-cam.com/video/E1Gwtep2oXw/w-d-xo.html
'Isis and Osiris' by Ayreon: th-cam.com/video/Z6YFbgMzkZY/w-d-xo.html
    Enjoy!

Thank you so, so much for all this, I really appreciate it. I've heard of Devin, that will be a must reaction as well. Much appreciated for this!

OMG I was so excited when I saw you posted this! I completely forgot I’d suggested it, too, so what a nice surprise 😂 Thank you so much for doing it!!! Their voices TRULY are just…unbelievable. They compliment each other perfectly and their chemistry is so fantastic, they look so happy to be on stage together. It really is the most beautiful duet ever.
As for the meaning, I believe in the description for the video they actually put “dedicated to anyone who has lost someone.” I don’t really have thoughts on whether it’s meant to be about lovers or a mother and child but, in general, definitely the loss of a loved one and the very particular agony that comes with not knowing. It just makes me think of like, on the news or even on crime show dramas, when there’s a person who has been missing for a long time, their family and loves ones always say that they just want to know what happened, because even if it’s horrible, it’s less painful than living with the questions and never having that closure.
Anneke’s name i believe is pronounced like Anica! She’s actually another huge name in the Dutch metal scene and was a huge inspiration for Floor Jansen. She has a solo career now but I believe her former band The Gathering started about 10 years before Within Temptation and Nightwish, so Anneke and Sharon and Tarja were all very much influential in starting this wave of female singers that’s now kind of become one of the core traits of symphonic metal. I haven’t listened to a lot of her work, but I’ve heard she has an absolutely insane vocal range.
So that’s another reason this duet is so incredible-just for the fact of having two singers of their caliber and fame on stage together. It’s one of the things I love about the symphonic metal scene; all the women from the big name bands seem to know and adore each other, so there’s tons of crossover! Sharon specifically seems to have performed with literally everyone at some point or another 😂
Sorry this comment is already way too long but one last thing cuz you had questions about the song: it’s from WT’s album The Silent Force so to my knowledge Anneke wasn’t involved with the songwriting. She’s not on the album recording either, but they’ve performed it live together a few times throughout the years and even during WT tours they’d use her voice recording for Sharon to sing along with.
