3:27 he was 13 but due to being a premature birth he's smaller than most boys his age. It's been over a decade as he's now 24

I knew that one day this moment would come. Le Million coming in hot and giving everyone that much needed hope. A true hero like All Might.

One of my favorite episodes of Season 6. Mirio’s back!! The last sequence with Best Jeanist monologing and the You Say Run remix (combined with Bakugo’s theme I think) playing in the background was absolute 🔥🔥🔥

Everyone is giving it their all. I love how even the villains were making fun of Bakugo's hero name. But Mirio was the only one who appreciated it. Bakugo thought of Izuku being in danger and now he's got reading rainbow sparkles for his explosions.
Dabi giving Shoto a nice hug like an amazing big brother. Truly a role model. Spinner trying to wake Shigaraki up by chomping on his head is hilarious. We saw how close those two got during MVA. So the fact that Spinner is worrying about him is honestly really nice considering how their relationship started off with him ignoring Tomura's order to take out Izuku because Stain respected him. But all Shigaraki had to do was think of his house. Of his father. And he needed to destroy that itch.
All of the heroes were talking about how their comrades who fought hard allowed them to get this far. But towards the end of the episode, we get some narration from Mr. Compress that seems to suggest that he isn't going down easy. For Spinner, for Toga, for Dabi, for the fallen Twice, for Shigaraki, Compress is about to give the magic show of a lifetime.

I seem to recall Spinner actually thought the hero name was kinda cool. (Which is also hilarious a guy inspired by Stain can’t help but still have a soft spot for some hero stuff just like Stain himself. Stain loves hero entrances and the inspired/inspiring heroes.) But that may have just been the translation I read.

Well this episode gave us a….hmm. Variety? Still trying to press on that gas, but I’d say this episode is a SLIGHT bit of a mixed bag.
We start off with a recap…which while I’m fine with, I’ll just put it simply and say this should’ve waited a few more episodes. I do like the overwhelming sense of we have done SO MUCH, but the conflict isn’t even over! We have to jump into a lot more interesting things!
Ok, but then there’s Best Jeanist who OUT OF NOWHERE decides to have the most styled superhero entrance in the show. I watched that entrance twice for this analysis because it was so freaking good. Taking the stage from Dabi, who OWNED the stage, launches spools several times his body size, and freaking SKY DIVES onto the battlefield with NO PARACHUTE and to top it off? LANDS on his wires like a tightrope. Putting his drop at about 120 mph if he fell stomach down and 150-180 mph head down. Which in terms of heroes that are frequently and actively breaking the sound barrier doesn’t SEEM like much, but this man is missing a lung, not at full health, has been off the field for months, had no equipment AND LANDED ON A TIGHTROPE. And let’s not forget, STOPPED DABI’S PROMINENCE BURN AND CAUGHT MACHIA AT THE SAME TIME BEFORE HE EVEN LANDED.
Which leads us to his quirk fiber master. Which AFO just wrote off as too much work and ultimately not worth it. But what fiber are we looking at today? Try steel fiber. His arms aren’t much thicker than his wires, and he’s got so much he can COMPLETELY WRAP MACHIA. He is NOT messing around. In a single move we know EXACTLY why he’s #3 hero. Which we REALLY had no idea why prior.
And it takes ZERO seconds for Dabi to get to a heat that melts through INCREDIBLY thick steel, and we have ourselves an Agni Kai start IMMEDIATELY. Now I have no idea why his CLOTHES are intact but let’s just assume the MLA provided a coat that could withstand…star level heats. Ok still weird. Shoto has an excuse with trying to keep his body cold as he gets close. AND occasionally we still SEE the ice. So that HAS to be negative kelvin. No ice is EVER seen that close to stars except maybe comets. And comets tend not to make head on collisions with desirable results. And Dabi is just DETERMINED to make it literally rain bodies for Endeavor to see.
Dabi is literally LAUGHING LIKE A MANIAC as he fights Shoto. It HAS to be fire on fire in this showdown because there’s ZERO chance Shoto can maintain his ice to Dabi’s fire. We saw what happened with Geten and he trained for decades for the Liberation. So Shoto just has to hope he finds a weak spot….which is immediately irrelevant once Dabi just says “Who needs cheeks?” (Also INSANE voice acting from these two.)
We have Shigaraki back in command. (Do we even care to keep track? That THING is AFS.) Who awakens Machia after a hearty…bite to the skull…Spinner what the heck? But it also summons the Nomu over as they awaken to take down Best Jeanist. And Jeanist LITERALLY can’t do anything with Machia right there. Deku shouts he won’t be useless, which is actually like a shout he won’t let Bakugo or others bring him down. (Worthless/useless is what Bakugo calls Deku when he says the name Deku.) But saving Deku, Jeanist, AND Burnin. We have one of my bigger issues of this episode.
Mirio Togata! He’s back and with his quirk! Does his early reveal have the same issue as Best Jeanist last episode? Well it WOULD be if crunchy roll didn’t OUTRIGHT SMACK HIS FACE ON THE NEXT EPISODE THUMBNAIL. But that’s crunchy roll. I’m going to admit this outright. I don’t think his early entrance is flawed. I think his return in of itself is flawed. Not because it was inevitable, but because where they put him. We know for a fact he was at the villa fighting…somewhere. He should have returned there. Because THAT is a place where we know he’s not at an immediate disadvantage. Where they could have showcased him better like in season 4 where he can solo 5 people. We know for a FACT Mirio is at a direct disadvantage to the Nomu, Machia, and AFS. So he lands some cool shots…but then he’s forced to ask for help. And while it’s cute and funny…for a grand reentry to the field? This…is not a good thing to do. This is where you remind us how powerful he is. Not throw him to the side for jokes. If he emerged in the mansion battle before Machia woke up, he could be properly showcased, and THEN he could show up here for some comic relief. And we KNOW he was on another mission he could’ve been showcased with the Nighteye agency. It’s emotional he’s back, but it lacks weight…and I’m going to admit it. (Namely AFTER you get past the initial thrill.) I think his return is the biggest issue of this entire arc because he changes so little for a big return that was inevitable. Not in anime, in the story.
That being said the fact that Mirio’s motto is Nighteye’s dying words is an IMMEDIATE tearjerker. THAT is a nice touch.
Also once again for a reminder…Eri has a rival for THE most powerful quirk right up there with AFO and OFA as their greatest asset…and a genuine weakness to them both. She can freaking home in on a SINGLE gene and restore damage to it. And if she’s that practiced, she can do the reverse and effect everything BUT the quirk gene, which is what would be needed to restore All-Might to this story…but also AFO if he god forbid gets to her. Sadly whatever happens to OFA is almost always mirrored with what happens to AFO. And while I’m sure Eri WOULD restore All-Might, I know she has no choice if AFO makes such a decision. He has a quirk called forcible quirk activation….and if you recall what happened to Kurogiri in season 3…that would probably be the scariest thing in the WHOLE SHOW. (Needless to say this is speculation not confirmed)
Ok but now we have Bakugo. He has a quirk awakening and is BACK on the field with what looks like very CHAINED explosions. And I LOVE it looks just like one of his moves in his round 2 with Deku in season 3. Yknow. Except with rainbow sparkles here. That fight REALLY opened up the possibilities. And we have a HERO NAME AT LAST FOR HIM! Setting aside have TWO pretitles to his title being hilarious and yet ANOTHER Japanese pun that makes him sound absolutely crazy in English, Dynamight is an AMAZING hero name very suitable for him. But also for it’s intentional misspelling for including an All-Might homage in there.
I love how Deku and Endeavor switched places for their bound duty battles. Endeavor has to save his kids but Touya is causing him genuine panic, so Deku decides to once again involve himself in the Todoroki business with a line that means EVERYTHING to EVERY Todoroki…except Touya who could not give any less of a crap by this juncture. He goes in WITHOUT arms being functional and even takes a partial heat blast from Touya himself. Which…holy crap. I know OFA is an armor not just a weapon, but JEEZ…I see why Endeavor thought Touya COULD have succeeded in his dream for that to happen. Even if WAY less likely on All-Might’s metric. Actually maybe not. AFS got fried by Endeavor. Not PRIME, but very possibly injured All-Might level. Deku seems to be displaying something new too. And his froppy style while INCREDIBLE tenacity to employ…is a perfect example why he’s so out of this fight.
Meanwhile Endeavor returns the favor and uppercuts Machia who is apart of Deku’s fated assignment. (Not that he’s aware, just who he knew he could attack without shame or fear.) And SEEMINGLY knocks him out. He doesn’t. Endeavor is Injured All-Might level sure at his best with his biggest moves, but Endeavor is out of juice and even with an adrenaline attack, we know Machia wouldn’t mind too much. And he didn’t. No mark to be seen. Luckily the sedative FINALLY worked. He likely needed a double dose for the intended results. But we got him! Their biggest piece is FINALLY off the board and the all that’s left is basically the league and Nomu.
This episode is good. But I’m not going to pretend it doesn’t have its flaws. I wish they handled some things differently but for what it did, it did its job.
