- This is one of the rarerest of the rare, the famed (and little seen) Susan Anton-Johnny Mathis duet that appeared on the 3rd episode of "Presenting Susan Anton" a Spring 1979 variety show that catapulted the beautiful blonde into the limelight, and set the stage for her first starring role in the 1979 film "Goldengirl". Here Susan Sings a duet of some of Johnny Mathis's most classic hits; including: "The Last Time I felt Like this" (from "Same Time, Next Year"), "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late", "Misty", "Wonderful, Wonderful,"Where Do I Begin" (from the film "Love Story"), and several others. You won't believe your ears when you hear Miss Anton sing. What a career she should have had...WOW!!

Here we have an example of something we never see anymore; Two talented people who can actually sing! No autotune, no lip syncing. Just beautiful and natural singing. I miss it.

Sublime showcase of true talent. Johnny is legendary but Susan did not let that diminish her formidable talent. Her tone and ability to sing harmonic rings around the melody is stunning and when she belts...look out, its the real thing. Superb clip.

I can remember seeing this when it was broadcast...my father and I sat absolutely astounded by this pairing...Susan is gorgeous...who knew she could sing HARMONY with Mathis? Unreal and beautiful...Thank you for posting this...a treasure to be sure and a lesson for al these so called singers today...THIS is how you do it.

I loved his voice the most in his late 30's and early 40's , it was sealed in by then ,although it would never have disappointed me if he had never made a duet recording with anyone, I like Johnny best when he sings alone

I've been lucky enough to have performed with both of them. My band and I played for Susan in the 1980s. She was and is a very good singer.
I just performed with Johnny on July 20 and will perform with him again in November. He's 81 and looks like he's 45. Still a fantastic singer and a great and gracious man.

I loved Susan then and I still think she's amazing. Her career got sidetracked after her relationship with Dudley Moore, I believe. As for Johnny - my favorite singer of ALL TIME and this clip reminds me why.
Susan Anton's short term relationship with Sly Stalone didn't help much for her career either (other than end her first marriage)

I had my son watch this and he said it really wasn't his type of music. I am saying that youth today don't know what good music is. I teach music and we need to have more music appreciation classed for youth that educate them on good music. what is some of the music of today doing to our youth? It is nonsense and brainwashing them.
Susan Anton and Pia Zadora were mid-to-late 70s phenomena who were pretty, blond, cute and likable, who got heavy handed promotion, but the public wasn't so keen on them. I forgot who said it-- probably a few people said it-- that only the public can make a star.
A Krenwinkle Quite the contrary. Susan Anton built a decades long career performing in Las Vegas. She is 5'11" of blonde beauty who was first a former Miss California and 2nd runner up at Miss America. She has a great voice.
Frankly speaking They were and are not stars. Did I say either Susan or Pia didn't get work and had no talent?
+A Krenwinkle You're correct about them and a lot of the "buzz" about them AT THE TIME was manufactured (though with Zadora it was her multi-millionaire husband paying for the promotion and not the studios as with Anton.) However, the critics and public weren't really buying it - they were being promoted beyond their talent. Barbi Benson was another one with could be in the category.
I think her beauty, and statuesque figure hindered her music career. She had a beautiful singing voice and was quite talented at it.

sorry but shes a mediocre singer at best. She was given the easier bits to sing and she scream sings in the wrong places. She is tall beautiful and a model...actress? singer? sorry no.
