The Sulaco model would only be 16 meters long in 1/24 scale. no worries

Wow is all I can say. Aliens has to be my favourite movie and yr modelling skills really do it justice, now could you do a 1/24 scale of the Sulaco plz lol. Seriously tho amazing work, you have a new subscription.

I'd like to see something at a bit smaller scale for the drop ship. I'd like to see one the APC can load into. 1 meter is a bit too big to maintain. I might recommend the TRX4M rock crawler as a chassis. That said your ideas are great so don't change on my account, I've just got a limitation where I can store everything. The details were great. I'm very much enjoying your build. I'm excited to see the lighting. In most cases I'd hardware LED's, but perhaps in this instance you can set up a display base with a coil for wireless LED's? Might make your life easy for a static display.
Thanks for the great comment, it's really appreciated. The beauty of 3D printing is you can scale the parts and print them any size you like. So you could go for a 1:48 model which would be half the size. Great tip re the wireless LEDs, thank you I am checking them out now. 😎

About youre question: wich one we like more APC or Dropship?
my answer would be... Both. You just can't have one without the other.
Those 2 ,are for me, the best of James Camerons designs...
if somoene didn't knew it by now... yes APC and Dropship were designed by Cameron himslelf. He made drawings of APC and with dropship, as he say himself, he had the problem to grasp Dropship shapes with many scetches attempts, so he just went to modellershop in the studio and scratchbuild it...
Both the APC and Dropship have their challenges and both are really cool. I honestly couldn't choose which I prefer. 🤔😎😎

I use 0402 SMD led. They are tiny and don't use much power. You can wire them in to almost any voltage as long as you have a resistor. Online calculators to tell you the right resistor

command station takes more space than space allocated for troops, that is so military, I was always curious to see the interior of APC ( one of my fav vehicles from sci-fi movies) and thanks to you I can visualise it now.

Thank you so much for the great comment. Resin printers are great, take a bit of getting used to . Not so good for large parts though. FDM is more suitable.🙂

Wow, The APC, AND the Drop ship ! (do you sleep?) ;-) With the lighting, if you have space inside, a Arduino nano and a Li-ion polymer battery - all good remote control over the (hardwired) lighting.

@@StaplesandVine Raspberry Pi Pico ? These micro computers are really handy, once you get over the programming interface. And there is heaps of example code scripts out there :-)

New to the channel and I love what I'm seeing reminds me of back in the day when I made Warhammer terrain I'm glad to see that you decided to do the dropship as well as the APC the dropship should just blow my mind if done half as well as you did the APC keep up the good work and I'm glad I found your Channel😁👍

Maybe fibre optic lighting might be easier, 1 light source and filament to the external lights... can't wait to buy these files and have these 2 kits...

Do you plan a version to open and close the side Door ?
Thank, glad you like the build. Aircraft ejector seats are the default for all sci-fi vehicles - they crop up everywhere. I'm not sure what the Falcon has. 🤔 Certainly the gunners seat was an ejector seat as were those used on the Milano. There will be two side doors, one open one closed. Making it slide would put unwanted holes in the exterior. 🙂
WOW! Great modeling Skills! I working on Batman Forever Batmobile i 1/12 right now! Had to rip the 3d model out of a Game! Cleaning this up and make it at least half decent to print is Nightmare! Wish i had your Skills!

@@StaplesandVine There are, but not detailed enough! I thought it would be easier to use an already existing model that is accurate! btw the last parts are on the printer! However i hav to clean up the parts and meke them fit again! adding "thickness" to the cut parts in Blender made them not fit together in the real world!

Great videos so far, really looking forward to this being completed, would love to build this myself. Those commander screens are asking to have an LCD screen behind them displaying moving images, something like people do for DIY cockpits for stimulators (1 screen to cover them all but with programmed visuals for each section). Keep up the good work 👏
Thanks for the great comment. I think in 1/24 scale there just isn't enough space for the LCD screen option and I don't want to go any bigger as I'm making the Dropship in the same scale. It would be very 😎 though...

what I find confusing is where is the gas turbine engine the APC is suppose to have to provide power when the batteries (which are in the rear) are low and recharging
I have no idea... It's sci-fi. They have conquered gravity in spaceships so everything else must be pretty easy. 🤔

On the topic of the "transaxle"... In this future context of a hybrid electric vehicle with hub motors the transaxle may be an assembly that combines the functions of a transmission, differential, and axle in some way other than we'd think in a modern context, such as being called this because its a mechanical assembly but with a built in ECU electronically coordinating what's normally handled by transmission and differential, while being part of the axle mating the wheel to the hull, or where the ECU just handles the role of the differential and each hub motor effectively has a transmission or gears between the hub motors and the connection to the vehicle hull. Alternative its supposedly have micro turbine generators supplying electric power to the motors, and its possible the transaxle is part of the linkage between generators or between the generators and wheels, where there isn't any need to criss-cross through the troop bay of the APC if it were a typical transaxle. In the first context the damage could have occured in either a mechanical transmission or axle portion of the transaxle and have the kind of result we hear. In the second context, if we assume when operating at top speeds, those generators are running hard to provide their maximum amount of power, a break in some kind of transaxle linking them could just require Ripley to ease down to the point where the vehicle can operating on limited battery capacity and limp away.
I think your second suggestion is more accurate. Independent wheel modules would be more efficient to manufacture, maintain and be interchangeable. Governed by their own ECU with a centralised MCU to regulate speed and torque. A centralised generator would also be logical. Ripley could have damaged 2/3 wheel motors in the scene. Clearly the APC has some drive, limp mode / 1/2 active wheel units as we see it come to a halt under its own power.

Thanks, glad you like the APC. Re the Milano I had a design issue regarding construction strategy for printing. I have a plan now so will be back on it soon. Maybe not with much physically but an update on the hull design work that I'm doing. 🙂
This is splendid work. I've always thought the interior didn't match the the vehicle... but you've sorted it out quite nicely.
in fact, actual vehicle on set only had room for 3 of the actors.

Yes, ironically it was mainly taken up by the engine which isn't in the sci fi APC as it has hub motors. 🤔

Sci - Fi... There is a power unit next to the gunner and drivers seats which supply the wheel hub motors. 🙂
Just be careful using clips from movies bud. TH-cam has closed a channel I was subbed to for this. They've changed the settings without telling content providers. The one that got hammered was called carstarz about cars and other vehicles used in TV and movies. Loving the build though . I was thinking about scratch building an aliens apc in rc so your build may inspire me. 👍
Yes, I subbed to that channel as well it was heavy on movie clips. I think there is a maximum amount of footage you can use. I'll keep an eye on that. Glad you like the build. The RC APC should be a lot of fun.😎

Not as it stands... There's a long list of reasons why it wouldn't work, BUT it does look very 😎
@@StaplesandVine Yes it does. As far as i know they built the APC from a vehicle which was used for moving planes on an airport, after it was replaced by something more recent, they even got the original driver, who lost his job, to drive it.
I knew about the base vehicle but didn't know about the driver (see episode 1) poor bugger. Still he did get to be a part of an amazing film. 🙂
Where is the engine ? IN-WHEEL-MOTOR driven ?
Yes, in-wheel-motor. They are certainly big enough to take it. 🙂

APC with crossroad capabilities of a sportcar. That thing was designed to look cool and futuristic, easy and cheap to assemble on set. Anyone who knows just a little bit about military vechiles will tell that this is garbage design.

🤣🤣🤣 No, not yet. 3D printing is a great tool to have in your arsenal, but it's not the only game in town. In next week's video you will see something completely different mainly using traditional techniques. 🙂
