Im gonna be honest the fox recommendations are really good for a start point to work off of if you do more normal trail riding keep the pressure and maybe go a bit faster in rebound and if you’re hitting big jumps slow the rebound down a bit but the pressure is usually pretty ok but if you’re riding and see you aren’t using full travel or are using too much pump it up or let some air out The fox recommendations are pretty great for casual riders but its a good starting point if you want to adjust the bike to yourself
Also you don’t want it to be lose either cause the last thing you want it your rear shock to go missing while you’re bombing down a double black tech trail lol 😂
I feel like "fork too stiff" has a place. I'm on a short travel bike and I rarely get full travel out of the fork, but the feel is balanced which I think is important... that said I would love a more supple fork, I just get bucked like crazy when I soften it up. 120/140 is a trap.
Me riding a stoic 3 with a lyric 170mm....i have no i idea about half of it 🤣 Yeah i ride fullys but im more of a hardtail Fan for basicly everething ...only tec DH there it has to be a fully for me 🤣
The shock may have bottomed out ONCE over the duration of a ride. Where the rubber ring is located on the shock piston is not a red flag. It's just an indicator that you need to consider changing your setup. If it only bottomed out the one time, there may be no adjustment necessary. But... Whatever gets the views...
Agreed. I’ve never gone over rollers and thought “i need to be using full suspension travel to get the most out of my setup” its easy to find the sweet spot and it usually leaves you with a little “contingency plan” for bottoming out.
with that last one, what if your fork's rebound is still too fast? With my rockshox revelation, its still too fast for my liking in the rock gardens and on steep lips. Any way to upgrade the damper?
None of the springers do pecause it's pointless, it would be pretty annoyng to move by hand between the coil's slots. You just have to know by feel how much travel you use (wich isn't that easy to say the least)
If that's how you like it then keep on shredding! But it might be worth checking if you can take out a volume spacer. It won't affect the initial part of your stroke but will let you use more travel on those big impacts so you can use all of your travel!

I hate bicycles with suspension as I currently own one with just a front fork that has suspension. Every time I try to put power down into my pedals and into the chain, the torque ends up diverting to the suspension get dissipated. It's annoying as hell.
My friend had a Kona when we were younger and I swear he would always be bottoming out his back suspension going over the tiniest things, it never made sense to me
I have a friend who had the rear suspension with too soft of a spring and the shock adjusted low. One day he made a jump larger than he expected and blew up the rear triangle because he bottomed out so hard it literally broke the frame. The suspension was fine somehow and he didn't even fall off the bike so he was fine
That is something you need to determine yourself because there are too many things that can affect rebound. You should try to avoid having it too high on jumps in order to not get thrown off the bike after a heavyer landing. If you are unsure search a good jump and set it to a fairly slow setting. If you think the suspension comes back too slow after the landing, increase the rebound speed. It's nice to have numbers, but it's better to make the most off of experience both or your own confort and ease of use. If you don't do large jumps you can get away with having a faster rebound, but if you find yourself in the wrong situation it can still be dangerous.
I can't get my rear shock yo stop bottoming out even when I only hit a small drop or jump and the seals and everything are perfect still just can't get it right
Yo Lost boys. I’m 135 lbsand ride a bike with a 140mm marzocchi z2. With the correct sag, I found my self bottoming out too much on larger hits so I added 2 spacers. Now I only bottom out on really big hits but I also feel like my fork is too stiff on the top end. What can I do?
I love when the rebound launches me 10 feet over the landing.
I have my rebound always as fast as possible

One thing tho quick rebound is very useful
Dont want the bumps to outpace your rebound, or you'll run out of shocks pretty fast
What for? Getting bucked?
It's not really a red flag but you have to set your settings, most of these are adjustable.
Also make sure the mounting hardware is tight! You don't want to learn the hard way haha
Also you don’t want it to be lose either cause the last thing you want it your rear shock to go missing while you’re bombing down a double black tech trail lol 😂

that means ur whole bike needs to be softer
Fast rebound is good
Is it actually bad, if you don't bottom out? I thought it was bad, so i got my suspension more stiff (normal bike, wish i had an enduro )

Me too! Glad to see Mike still riding the Devinci 😎 I love my 2021 Troy!
You shouldn't change your suspension set up for the trail. Its should be the same all the time. So not using all your suspension is fine.

How do you fix the fork being too stiff? My Trek mountain bike has the fork that is way too stuff and I can barely feel it
