    Excellent run trough on both strokes. First time I hear a good explanation on the non-dominant hand for both strokes. Especially backhand

    Thanks! I have been hitting with the wall and retooling my oh bh in an inappropriate manner. I will take this advice and (probably) feel less pain in my elbow. 👍👍

      Make sure you hit really well in front with a completely straight arm. Tennis elbow happens most commonly on one-handed backhands where at contact the elbow is not yet fully extended.

    Interesting video!
    A few questions regarding:
    "Players with good forehands use their upper body as one unit"
    1. Is the upper body used as "one unit" for the entire FH stroke, just during the forward swing or during some other portion?
    2. In the BH, is the upper body used as one unit (using the back instead of the chest for stability)? For the same portion of the stroke as the FH?

    • @feeltennis
      @feeltennis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, upper body is always used as one unit on both forehands and backhands, it's just that on the one-handed backhand the rotation stops earlier. It is not very intuitive to use upper body as one unit for one-handed strokes (forehand and backhand) as the player wants to "use" the side on which they hold the racket. But they dis-balance the upper body and cause inconsistent and imprecise movements. The only intuitive "whole" upper body as one unit strokes are two-handed strokes. (backhand of course and some rare cases also forehands)

    After letting go from non dominant, it should go drop wrist to 3/4 o'clock then arm then rotating wrist and bending elbow, not straight into arm. That method makes a forehand swing way more compacts and better in my opinion

  • @oivie1332
    @oivie1332 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Because the forehand has a lot more of variations in stroking techniques, so therefore the forehand is more prone to go wrong than the backhand. Even with the pros, most of the time when things went wrong, it was the forehand. Backhand is more stable and stays true to form.
