I'm 39 years old and been doing bodybuilding for the past 10 years. I'm due to a open heart surgery with a quadruple bypass and 2 extra if the surgeon feels it is needed in the upcoming weeks. After the news my world fell apart. I am currently trying to get past the deep depression I'm feeling, always asking myself question. The only thing that keeps me alive is my 5 kids and a wonderful woman that supports me. Thank you for showing me that it is still possible after it.

How are you doing? I had a heart attack 3 months ago. I almost didnt make it. Was a sac of potatoes, but I have been working out 6 weeks after the angioplasty. I know about the mental side. For me, Ive had people turn on me, but oddly Im used to that. Ive had cancer twice, broke my spine, twice as well, with the fusions. I try to motivate others, at how resilent the human body is as a machine, but it does suck. And I know the thoughts. So, just reaching, from one to another that gets it.

I REALLY want to know now too. Last time I commented was before doc told me I need a bypass. I havent worked out in a bout a month, lost weight...Yes, I suppose for selfish reasons, though, that I could get back to lifting, but not just. I am hoping youre doing well, even if I never lift weights again.

I had my Aortic valve replaced and a triple bypass in July last year, 2023, aged 53, I started training in September, 8 weeks after the op, only to split my incision beneath my skin I have what looks like a round hole in my chest but I'll have to live with that now as I'm not stopping training, I was quite a big bodybuilder in my 20's and 30's around 240 lbs on what was a skinny frame, back into it now and I've gone from 13.5 stone post op to 14.5 in a few months, really enjoying it. Hope you're well mate, looking good. Good luck for the future.

Damn. I had a mitral valve replacement at 34 (last year) and felt pretty frail afterwards. It felt like my future was done for. I caught covid while homeless, that turned into something like pneumonia which plummeted my immune system and let a bacterial infection in my heart take hold. Specifically ate away my mitral valve and I was given a bioprosthesis. I was lucky not to get sepsis. My body was regurgitating blood like crazy. My lower half was so swollen it looked like someone shoved two ping pong balls up my dick. Nightmare. Now I'm worried about how fragile I am. This interesting. The body really does have the capacity to heal itself in all circumstances if given the right conditions.
Right now I'm still living in a car but am working and trying to stay as healthy as I can. I'm gonna dig myself out of this shitty mess if is die trying.
