Well done! I would be scared to cut the paint with the knife. You mentioned some good tricks for avoiding that. I am thinking of a stealth wrap for my white Y.
Hei! Im contemplating whether to send the car to a shop or do it myself. I've wrap my own bicycles before and I can say im not new to wrapping. Just wondering how much should I buy to wrap a Model Y? Would you mind giving me the measurements and eventually extra measurements in case i mess up.Im thinking of wrapping the A pillar to the upper section of the trunk black and the main color wrap all other parts of the car. Thanks in advance!
50 ft is what I normally buy and that should be plenty - always good to have some extra though, especially if it will be your first time wrapping a car. That would be a cool combo, like a top hat wrap for a Model Y. Good luck with it!
@@wrapitupok I have a question. How do I prep the car before wrapping it? And I only have an open garage. Should I be worried about the dust going to stick to the car while wrapping it and causing bubbles?
You want to remove the side cameras and clean the entire car extremely well with 70% isopropyl alcohol. All crevices and everything. You should be fine with the open garage, just try to install on a day that isn’t super windy and wipe down every panel right before you wrap it.
Wow. I was so confident until I did the trunk. That bottom side under yhe spoiler area was all wrinkles....such a pain to get done. Not sure it will last. If not paying a pro. Don't ever want to wrap the trunk again. Lol. Everything before that was so easy. Rear bumper today shouldn't be bad. Then front bumper is last...that could be tricky....gotta do some inlays.
Yeah you have to stretch the vinyl around the edge so there is less excess on the bottom. Another way you could do it is wrap the bottom in one piece, and use knifeless tape to lay a seam over the top to wrap the top in another piece. Look up laying inlays with knifeless tape and that’ll show you how 👍
Hope everything went well on the bumpers! The back is easy but you have to put inlays around the small air intakes/passthroughs on the front bumper. If you stretched the vinyl in all the way it’ll have too much stretch and will come up after awhile.

First time wrapping a Model Y, I’ve been wrapping cars in general for years tho. Next time my shop gets another Tesla in I’ll be sure to make a few more walkthrough videos 👍
Thanks for sharing. I was planning to tackle the same way, although I did remove the lights as per i1tesla....probably could have avoided that. Oh well. Lol Looks like wrapping that sharp edge of the trunk wasn't so bad. Saving the bumpers for last. :)
Sorry 😂 I messed it up a bit on that part tbh and skipped over it because I didn’t want to show what NOT to do lol. That back curve is pretty tough. I will include the whole thing in my next videos though now that I know how to actually do it.
Ok having tossed 3 pieces and getting it finally on the fourth try, this video skips by FAR the MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND DEMONSTRATIVE ASSISTANCE required to do the job lol! Its almost cruel 🤣
@@wrapitupok All good, sorry I was just tilted when I wrote that lol, It's a lot easier to me now having wrapped a couple of M3s. Fantastic wrap by the way!
Great work and well done. All the best! Planning on wrapping a Tesla Model Y myself so most helpful! Thanks.
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful. 🙂

Hey and hello from Germany.
Really great. Here we can see that great results can be achieved with calm and care. 👍
I'm wrapping mine the same color right now! By Avery, not 3m
Doing the trunk tomorrow. Then bumpers, then done! First one. Coming out great!

Thanks! We purchased it from fellers 🙂
Do you have a video of the inlays on the front bumper?

Good job 👏
Thank you! 🙏

Did you use heat at all pulling out and down the trunk?
Yes! Used heat for the center in the bottom
Impressive 😎
Thank you! 😁
damn you just straight skipped the part where you glass it lmao
Do you remove any parts on a Model Y?
Yes, but very few. We only had to remove the cameras on the side and the emblems.
What brand wrap is that ?
3M matte military green
the biggest part is no show in video
