Honey from your bee's of the sky , Bass caught on your line from the seas, tomatoes grown by your hand from the earth . All cooked and eaten in your D.I.Y home on the road. The fruits of your labor Alex , it's been great watching this new chapter mate and I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with it next.

I just finished watching the van build playlist and throughly enjoyed how you kept it real, how when you didn't know how to do something, you didn't pretend to and instead either sought help or researched how. Adding the tidbits of your adventures while taking a break from the van build and showing your frustration it all made for an engaging series. May your travels be full of fair winds and many blessed days.

I have to confess I started watching the can conversion mainly for the comedic factor and didn't think it would turn out that great. I apologize because it actually looks really good and functional. I am blown away by this episode where I realised you've made your own honey, grown your own tomatoes and made your own knife. I didn't give you enough credit but you should be incredibly proud of how everything has turned out. I've just come back from a trip to Spain in my self converted van, and let me tell you how important ventilation is. Source out a roof vent that you can run to bring air in or out in conjunction with the wind deflector idea. A lot of moisture is created when you sleep in the van and that can make things mouldy, so a fan or vent will be crucial. Also think about a heating solution if you are going to do winter van life. Good luck. Subscribed.

I feel like you need some sort of tarp that clips onto the rear door and you can hang it up and pull it around like a shower curtain to protect you from the rain. And also you might need to install a chair leg that you can pull out to give more support for the table when pulled out.

  • @steve810810

A pull out side awning or magnetic attached plastic sheet over back door means you can cook in the rain outside. A pull out table over your current table will save your back when working or maybe a table that attaches to the steering wheel if it’s not too cramped. A brilliant little van - very inspiring! 😊

    NICE ONE !
Essential additions. Pan splatter guard.( can also be used to put a plate on over pan to warm, and on its side as a wind deflector for stove)
A stainless steel moka pot ( use with ground coffee no need for kettle)
Some strong magnets some of those large beach towel clips and a couple of metres of black curtain lining. (Make blackout blinds / cab divider, wind blocker, light weight blanket etc )
I just fitted windows to the slide doors in my van. Makes a big difference. Looking forward to your travels. Ed.

Finally, having a fresh water tank, small sink, and grey water tank will be so important if you are planning on longer adventures - washing up, washing hands, brushing teeth. Not sure what you are planning to do for WC and Showering - I guess if you stay at camp sites they will all have those facilities.

Just a word of warning to the wise the Orion and smart solar will get very hot being enclosed in a drawer especially the Orion unit I would have them mounted on the van walls somewhere to allow some heat to escape I have both on my boat and even wall mounted they generate a substantial amount of heat the solar looks good you can utilize the load output if set up so it disconnects sockets if the voltage drops too low I would personally put larger cables into the Orion unit yours look a bit worryingly thin these units are designed to take a max of 16mm square cable less resistance in larger diameter cabling I have a fan that blows under the Orion unit up the fins to dissipate heat as output is limited when the unit reaches 40 degrees and also have mine mounted on a cement board backer
Keep up the good work and I'm enjoying the content if I wasn't into boat life I would be an avid van lifer 😁 enjoy your travels

Van is looking really good Alex. Maybe u could use some tarps and tarp poles( try DD tarps) for when u got the boot open and cooking just to keep the rain away, and save everything getting wet. Create a awning type thing. Will be small and compact as well. We love watching your videos. Be proud of yourself.

I did not see that in another builds around, but fot rainy days and cooking, thinking in the type of rear door that you have, I would try to find a solution for cooking outside (maybe some sort of curtains hanging from the door attached with magnets). Do not know how you could find the way there but I think it would save space, smells inside and so on. You could use that curtains for outdoors shower too. I think if you find the way it could be incredibly useful. It would also protect your stove from the wind cooking outdoors.

Alex dude you can get a splash guard for your frying pan and then you can minimise the splashes. Congratulations on finishing the van looks excellent 👍

Alex! I got an idea for the rain part! Make like a fordable tarp that is connected to the back door so when you open the back door the tarp folds out like a tent and makes a little cabin to the back for cooking and such maybe add like windows to the tarp or such out of clear plastic

whan it's raining you can open the back door and sit under it to cook, can also get a tarpaulin or tailgate tent to give more protection from rain and extend the size if the van when parked.
great videos and cool van build 👍

I really enjoying watching your videos. For someone doing impromptu, your cooking looks delicious. To remove food smell from your van since you cooked for a bit with your doors closed, you can put a bowl with charcoal and an open baking soda box to deodorize your van. Just a kind tip which might be useful.

Van looking good. How about a small flip up extension with a bit of foam/padding to extend the top half of the bed.

Maybe consider small awning to extend the sides of the tailgate
