Explanation for Ho Chi Minh city: Ho Chi Minh city was once called Saigon and was the capital city for South Vietnam. After the North won against the south during the Vietnam War, they renamed it to Ho Chi Minh in respect for the late communist ruler Ho Chi Minh
And in addition, Hanoi was actually the capital for way longer than that, when in 1010, King Ly Cong Uan (or Ly Thai To) decided to move the kingdom to Dai La (modern-day Hanoi) and later renamed it Thang Long (flying dragon). Today, we still refer to Hanoi as Thang Long in our history books. Edit: I do mean Hanoi was the place of the kingdom since the 11th century, we just don't call it the capital at the time.

2:14 Hanoi is capital of Vietnam since 1945. Ho chi minh city (Sai gon) was capital of South Vietnam when Vietnam was divided into 2 parts: North and South. When the North and South Vietnam reunified, Hanoi was still picked up to be capital of Vietnam. Most of Foreigners think Ho chi minh city( or saigon )is capital of Vietnam, maybe Ho chi minh is the well known name that they have ever heard at least onetime by war, movie, history,... Thanks for including my country Myanmar(also know as Burma). *Just Knowledge *People think think that people from Myanmar are called Burmese. It is actually wrong. Burmese is just one of the ethnic group native to Myanmar. As Myanmar is a multi-ethnic country there are 8 major ethnic group which have their own literature, language and culture and land. These 8 ethnics are Kachin, Karenni, Karen, Chin, Mon, Burmese,Rakhine and Shan. So just call people from Myanmar only base on the country name which is Myanmar. Or ask them which ethnic you belong to. Example for me I belong to Rakhine ethnic who are native to western part of land in Myanmar state name Arakan state. So if I am In another country I will identify myself as “Rakhine from Myanmar” or Arakanese from Myanmar. Which mean I belong to Rakhine ethnic but my nationality is Myanmar.
