Let me rephrase what I said previously. The largest tire you can put on that rear rim 150. It's not wide enough for 160, 180, or 190. The tire is both taller and the curvature is greater. The patch touching the road during riding is not that much greater, and makes riding on the edge impossible. It may look better, but it reduces acceleration slightly and may also affect the speedometer.
Trust me, it felt better grip when comes to patch touching the road during riding and makes riding on the edge very comfortable and possible. It looks so much better and i agree with the reducing pick-up but thats obvious and thats completely depends on priorities. No, it doesn't affect the speedometer.
Yes, you have a better grip but not acceleration. Be careful when upgrading to bigger tire. When you have a bigger tire, you must chang also your mags or rim to wider width. Why? It affect the handle and the balance of your motorcycle when riding. You feel the lateral movement of the bike because of bigger tire and smaller width of rim. If you change your tire to bigger again, it will consume you more gas. When changing to bigger tire, take note to change your rims to bigger width. You dont feel the instability when driving at low speed but in high speed you will feel it Be careful when modifying your MC
I completely agree and I can tell you he doesn't have the knowledge he thinks he does the tyre size is the size it is for a reason you many factors play In why you should leave the tyre size alone the you have to think about how much extra force is needed to make the tyre turn so that's extra fuel now you have to thing contact patch are you puting in enough air which varies depending on your goal and because the tyre is wider now you've just limited your leaning because you didn't upgrade the rim the even bigger problem is you havent upgraded or adjusted the front tyre so now the alignment is off on both tyres the tyre isn't even balanced now so congratulations youve thrown off the bikes handling and increased fuel economy and I didn't notice any difference the bike has a 321 cc engine that isn't designed to pull the wider tyre and why does it take 3 of you to change a tyre in short don't touch a motorcycle or modify it unless you actually know what your doing I say this for your own benefit and safety. Weird question but why modify the tyre first instead of the exhaust, handle bars maybe a r6 throttle tube ect why not upgrade the sprockets and chain for faster acceleration or top speed why slow the bike down if you want a bigger tyre that much buy an r6 or r1 or any 600 or litre bike .
there's no way that's not pinching the profile? My SV650s cannot have a 180 rear without a rim conversion otherwise it pinches the profile and that's a 160 stock.
@@sohinmandepudi Doing some research on this rim size it allows a 160 at most without profile pinch. Your contact patch is going to be decreased compared to a regular rim. Just because you've personally had no issues doesn't mean there isnt any
@@Rempai420 bro i agree, but actually mods are not recommended for any vehicle as per brand manufacturer but we do it anyway, every mod like an experiment.
It doesn't look wider at all,. The reason being your rim is only 4" and it will look like a donut or it will become taller and narrower but not wider ,.unlike bikes with 5'5" rims and 180 tires those look wider because the tire dont get pinch..
@Travis Olander But the sidewall flexes when you put air,.160 tire is for 4.5" rim..if you compare both tires one with 150 and the other with 160 on 4inch rim ,.the 150 will look flatter wider and the 160 will look taller narrower..
What a horrible idea. First of all, your rim is too narrow so you're making the tire far too circular, effectively shrinking your contact patch. You'll never be able to use the full tire. My guess is that it also drastically slowed your lean-in. This is one aesthetic modification that severely downgrades the performance of your bike.
yeah going good, not changing the front tire anytime soon, but If I do, I 'll upgrade with little bigger one and I don't have any issues with the stock one, fine with leaning angle too.
did you just used the stock mags 4.5 with the 180/55 tire
Yes

Just ordered 5,5" Wheel for 180/55 set up from japan
@@MoodSwingZX as long as you have a 5,5" rim forr the 180 tyre this is perfect. Would love to order it if you don't mind sending the link.
180 tire needs 5.0 or 5.5 rim to be exact but if you want stock you can do it but at your own risk
Sounds like a tire downgrade. Did you test lap times, or acceleration times at track before and after? Would like to see how much slower bike is now.
I just did that for look, not expecting any better performance since i use it for street only 🙂
Good work. Most people need a shop todo this tire change, including myself! Very smart. And good save not letting the bike fall!
Thanks mate :)
4.5 rim ?
Its a stock rim

No, it is not punching, and its the stock Rim, i have ridden 1k miles till now. There's no problem at all

@travisolander4749Look at my comment Mr high and mighty mechanic. I said you can get a 160 on this bike.

What about the rim?
its the same stock rim

I am about to change mine to bigger tires tomorrow 😊 thanks to this helpful video mate !
I have the exact same color r3. And I also have a Civic Si hahahhshs
what a coincidence :)
Is that a Type R Civic ?
Nah bro, its Civic Is
Still riding good? Do you plan in switching the front tire?
yeah going good, not changing the front tire anytime soon, but If I do, I 'll upgrade with little bigger one and I don't have any issues with the stock one, fine with leaning angle too.
Did you edit out the part where you went to go change your underwear
Lol Yes, Those are shorts btw :P
I saw another video where the rider upgraded his rim to a 5.5 inch for the 180 55 ZR17 tire. have you had any issues with the tire and stock rim yet?
I don't have any issues with the stock rim.
If good film making is taking out the boring parts, you offended every sensibility.
Is it a good idea to go for bigger size in stock rim
yeah man, saved a lot of money!!
NO.
160이 최대입니다. 180끼니까 160낀거랑 폭이 같네요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 순정림사이즈에 180타이어 끼면 말려서 위험합니다 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Sorry I don't understand that language, could you please translate to English. Thanks
This is how you do the tire upgrade
