Taylor or Valle is the one big selection dilemma for me for Zagreb ( I think the rest of the team picks itself) At 27yo Taylor has very much hit his ceiling as a footballer. He isn't terrible and I do not share the same pathological hatred for him that many Celtic fans seem to have BUT he does have some serious limitations for a LB playing at CL level football. Namely his lack of pace & lack of height. These are simply physical limitations that no coach in the world can really do much about and the player himself cannot do much about it either. Ok so play Valle then? Well he's slightly taller and is certainly quicker..... BUT he's a bit of a bombscare in possession. He doesn't "look after the ball" as they say. Unlike Taylor though, Valle's limitations are things that can at least be worked on and be improved over time But they're not likely to improve in the next few hours! So it's currently a bit of coin flip for me and I can see a scenario whereby whichever player starts on the bench will be the player to emerge from the game with the most credit I'd probably plump for Taylor at this stage just due to experience and pray that Zagreb don't have the latest Croatian superstar playing at RW! As an aside: I have come up with the "Greg Taylor challenge" The Greg Taylor challenge is - Go on to any Celtic forum, TH-cam channel, Facebook group etc... and post something mildly positive about Greg Taylor and then watch the meltdown ensue! Don't go OTT with praise, just say something really milquetoast like "That was a good pass from Taylor to set up Hatate's goal..." that sort of thing. Don't criticise any other player when doing so and do not elaborate on Taylor's general ability (or lack of) just make ONE mildly positive statement about Greg Taylor and see what is the most deranged response you can get. I've been doing it for a wee while now and it's very amusing
one thing ive always noticed with hibs, and it kinda annoyed me, they always raise their game against us, unlike their counterparts who usually down tools against their big cousins in glasgow, Celtic is a cup final for them for some reason pretty crazy that Alans data backs up my ostensibly mad observation
There's definitely an element of them raising their game. There's a human nature aspect to it, Celtic park in front of 50-60K is bound to get the juices flowing more than say Rugby park in front of 5K on a plastic pitch..... But as Alan alluded to, There's also the clash of style. Hibs are pretty good on the counter attack and if there is one team in the league that gives teams a chance to counter attack It's certainly Celtic. So it all adds up to Hibs "raising their game" in the eyes of the casual observer
Ah but the relationship between us & the wee Hibs & that of their Edinburgh counterparts with the auld deid Club is COMPLETELY different & taking the latter first, the wee Swinecastle rabble were formed only a year after the auld deid Club & grew up just wanting to be EXACTLY like their Glasgow counterparts & all the ''aye ready'' stuff, whereas the wee Hibs hated us for pinching a few of their players when the world famous Celtic FC were founded & they hated us so much that roll on to 1952 & their then Chairman most happily trying to put us out of business for good after the ''Irish tricolour controversy'' at an Old Firm game & all buoyed by the fact that dear old Belfast Celtic were actually forced out of existence for good in 1947.
Please forgive my error, it was 1949 that Belfast Celtic were forced out of business for good, not 1947 as I said in my original comment & so a couple of years closer to the events of 1952 & never mind Fergus McCann & his £9 million saving us from bankruptcy & going out of business for good in March 1994, he quite literally wouldn't have had a Celtic FC to save if events had turned out differently in 1952 & what saved us then were two things, first & foremost, the most principled stance that then Celtic FC Chairman Robert Kelly took in standing up to the corrupt evils of complete anti - Irish & anti - Catholicism & the support he received in this regard from his counterpart the then Rangers chairman...
My fear is that we are riding our luck and depending on our goalkeeper too much recently. One day it will not hold. Fingers crossed it will not be this week.
Have we got to the stage where SPFL teams cannot punish us under almost any circumstances because of the lack of quality which has been going down in Scotland because the same money buys players that are not as good? What does that say about the viability of Scottish football as a separate entity from England since 1874?
If I remember correctly, it wis George Clooney back in the day when he wis an oot & oot Holywood A Lister & when asked did he read the reviews of his movie performances, he said he had stopped reading them a long time ago, simply because, as he explained, he never believed he was ever that good when getting all the praise & just as importantly, he was never that bad either, since he was a professional actor of many years standing, but if oor George wis a fitba fan & particularly of the woeful & dire SPL, even he, with his common sense & pragmatic approach to life, would have to admit that Celtic Football Club really are that good & ALL the rest of them really are dross & complete dross & I say that with ONLY sadness....
@frankbrennan1619 the wage bill disparity between the top 2 and the rest has existed for a century and more but have prize money from UEFA competitions and the advent of big fees meant the disparity is so great that Celtic cannot lose? Rangers are in the same position with their relegation form this season but have a Celtic shaped cloud permanently hanging over them.
@@John-qy9nw Well certainly NOT this season can we lose & I don't say that with ANY sense of arrogance or complacency & as I've said already, how on earth can we lose to ANYONE domestically when ALL of them are ONLY dross & complete dross & so in that context & ''context is everything'' as dear old Alan most rightly frequently likes to remind us, not only should our current Manager win us yet another domestic Treble this season starting on Sunday, he should also ONLY be delivering of us another domestic Invincible season to emulate that of 2016 - 2017 & if he doesn't, then most rightly, the most serious of questions as to why not, will be asked of our current Manager.....
Excellent video, yet some Celtic fan media was wanting the defenders changed at half time, & of course the keyboard warriors have the knife 🔪 out for Engles
The ONLY debate to be currently had aboot £11 million Engels are the reasons as to why he is NOT performing ANYWHERE near & with the consistency too, an £11million pound signing should be performing at & particularly in a domestic context & the dross & the complete dross we face week after week, season after season & yes I know the £11 million price tag has nothing to do with him, but like it or not, he's got it & it's never ever going to go away & indeed for me, he's NOT even at the performance levels of a £6 million signing & the amount we first bid for him & then somehow we end up paying a huge big whopping £11 million & for why exactly, since there just wasn't a huge big long queue of other Clubs desperate to get him?
if hibs are paying for packing info then its a waste. how many times do they get to do that? against 2 teams all year? and when they do the the chance theyre not even ready for it as you can tell by their finishing
I don;t know what their packing data looks like versus other teams all i know is that against Celtic they are better at it than very other relative team in Scotland. With a defence like that and the keepers they have had recently, it probably doesn;t help overall!
They did 1 podcast per week for free before, and now they do 1-2 podcasts plus some extra stuff on the substack for free per week. Why should whatever extra stuff they want to do, which isn’t monetisable even through the paltry TH-cam adsense, be released for free too? It’s like saying you’re stopping watching Celtic games (if they were free) because Celtic also sell football shirts.
@@cybereye2 Ok but that logic can be applied to everything in life that has a monetary value attached to it. Some people can't afford it, or don't think it's worth money etc... etc...
Pierre Gabriel at left back for Zagreb. Sledgehammer of a left foot.
As long as he's switched on, he can't have it that 'the lights are on, you're not home...'
Great show again guys. Celtic to win 3 - 2
HAIL HAIL Lads 🍀💚🍀 excellent again
