WHAT DOES OUR LIFE REFLECT? The writer of Proverbs 27 says: "As water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart (verse 19). That is a sobering thought because we know from our own ways and conduct that our hearts are desperately wicked (sick). Thus the writer of Proverbs 4:31 enjoins us: "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." We have much to be thankful for-one of which is, God has given us a new heart. True, we will continue to fall and stumble until He calls us home. That's because we live in the flesh and we daily struggle with indwelling sin. But as a friend reminded his Study group, "There is a world of difference between occasional sin and habitual sin." If we are born again, we can overcome and resist sin with God's help and become more and more like Jesus. And we can take real comfort in the truth that He Who has begun a good work in us will see it to completion. It helps, too, if you have good, Christian friends that will hold you accountable and vice versa. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, 2024!
