Caran D'Ache Neocolor I & II Swatch & Comparison, plus Timelapse Roman Szmal & Neocolor I Painting

- Today I swatch out the 32 Caran D'Ache Neocolor I crayons I got in my recent art haul, and test out their properties alongside my Neocolor II's.
I videoed a quick little sketch at the end, using the Neocolor I's as a wax resist for Roman Szmal paints.
I'm delighted to have the different properties of both sets, and think they are high quality, beautiful products, especially useful in mixed media art.
I just wish there were more colours available in the Neocolor I's!

I'd go for Neocolor II's, plus a white Neocolor I for resist work, if I was starting from scratch!

Hi Helen! Just wondering if you’re using the neocolor 1? I am considering getting some of the summer since the 2 get so sticky in my hand in the heat…
I do have them, and they're beautifully smooth, but I don't use them very much, just because I really like the water solubility of the 2's. I guess it depends what you want to be able to achieve with them.
