Aoki Kubo thank you from the bottom of my hearth for this magical song , also my hearth goes out to everyone from the manga creators, musicians, singers, actors, crew and director that help create the miraculous eien no kino. God, I just finish watching this masterpiece. It's totally devastated ending, not gonna lie, but funnily enough, I don't felt despair or tragic fate or something like that. I felt.... reliefs, knowing that keeping Koichi in his state will make Machan a selfish if I dare to say. Cause Koichi didn't want it, he want Michan to continue with him life (being a doctor and meeting his another number one, even tho it's not possible lol) and for the Koichi own sake, he can't living like that, being forgotten one by one by people around him. Then we get to see Michan 5 years later, continue his study (like Koichi want) but one thing that he can't promises is, Koichi is still his number one, that fact will forever embedded in his live. Then we saw Michan in his camping vacation (just like what he do with Koichi). His clothes is similar to the ending clips, but the different is, there's no Koichi. God the ending is like telling us that **IF KOICHI IS STILL ALIVE THEY'LL BE CAMPING TOGETHER LIKE THE CLIP, TOO BAD THAT'S NOT THE CASE** T,T

1:33 2番の出だしの歌詞は、まさにドラマでのみっちゃんそのものだよね。
最終話でみっちゃんが海岸で物思いにふけるシーンで「sunshower」が流れてきてまず涙、その後の浩一のモノローグで浩一のみっちゃんへの想い、浩一の生い立ちが分かった後で、この「遠い夏の日」が流れてきてみっちゃんへのキスでまた涙、さらにエンディングのバーベキューシーン、2人がビールで乾杯してダメ押しの涙。浩一が事故に遭ってさえいなければ、あの日雨で出来なかったバーベキューが大人になってからやり直せたんだよね、ビールで乾杯出来たんだよねってことだもんなあ。
浩一が、旅立つ前に名残惜しそうにそして愛おしそうにみっちゃんにキスするところでこの曲が流れてくると本当に泣けてくる。本当は最期まで愛するみっちゃんの側にいたかったのだろうけど、自分の遺体がみっちゃんのベッドで見つかると迷惑かけちゃうというのが浩一らしい。
