@ hey you added me back on linkedIn. Would you be fine with me sending you personal messages on there to also questions? Or is it something you would rather just have shown here on TH-cam in the comments?
You're correct, it's a single phase mill. It doesn't have issues cutting anything at all. It's a great machine, the only thing I would say is it does have low torque so you're limited in the depth and engagement of tools. If I had to start over, I would buy a cnc machining center from auction for 5-8k. This mill runs me a decent amount per month for what it can do. I also wouldn't have been able to start my shop without it, so it's mostly a blessing. Just small and low torque. It holds sizes really really well and runs flawlessly
This is a race to the bottom. More machines: more competition. Some of those "partners" will be working at a lost just to make machine payments. The "partners" are doing self-inspection which brings up calibration issues. And "partners" are going to find perfectly machined parts not per spec at the other end. Good luck with this multi-level marketing.
@@AscendedTechnologies There are hundreds (probably thousands) of posts all over social media about xometry and people who jumped through the hoops but ended up taking less than a few jobs a year. As more people try this, those who depend on it are going to be greatly disappointed.
In all honesty I have worked at large facilities and some of those have put out garbage work. We are a 2 man shop and while yes I am mostly inspecting my own parts, I am confident to say much of what I put out is as good or better than much of the larger companies. Not to say we never have a part get rejected, but it is rare. I think there is truth to a lot of what you said, but it's not a 1 size fits all scenario.
@@motivemachineworks6890 Whatever works. These types of videos show one small (20% ?) segment of precision machining. Everything goes right the first time, high hourly rate and that is about all there is to it. What a load.
Watched a few vids, haven't heard a disclaimer about your affiliation with Xometry, (Maybe i missed it) Are you paid by or partnered with them in any way?
I don't know about anyone else, but the shops and guys i know that have spent the time and money to get iso certified are not trying to get Xometry work. I also don't know how Xometry claims to be able to get poeple itar certified. You CAN NOT get itar certified working out of your garage. Just like iso, everyone i know that's itar are not trying to get Xometry work.
Xometry sponsors some shops to get itar. I'm one if those people. You can obtain ITAR in your home based business. It's a combo of cyber and physical security that complies with NIST 800-171, and a written manual. I'm compliant and just need to pay the bill $2,250. I just ow of a few shops that have AS9100D, ISO9001, AND ITAR that take work from xometry to fill in lulls. I do agree tho, most of those shop do not need xometry and are doing just fine.
@AscendedTechnologies i don't know, I've been told no since 2018. Beacuse I'm attached to my home and if an audit needs to be done they are not going threw a person's home. Visitor logs are required with itar.. So do you log, badge, and maybe background check everyone that comes over to your home? That's another reason I was told no. I was also told itar is for the holder of the certification. You can't umbrella everyone you work with and "compliant" dosnt mean shit anymore. Companies want the real certification. But still, it dosnt make sense. My Xometry score is 98. I've never made more then a $1000 on a job with them. My first job with the labs was 50 pieces, 6061, no plating, no outside sources, 3 weeks to complete, and paid 10k. Paid 90% of my tormach with the first job. Xometry can't do that.

Of course, thanks for the support!
I love your content man. I appreciate the extra work you're doing to show us xeometry like very few have.

Haha love that intro! Thats some top tier editing right there. 😂
Haha thanks! I had fun making it

Hey bro, is your machine single phase power & if it is do feel like it has limitations on some materials?
I’m thinking about buying the same machine

@ thank you for answering my questions
is Xometry worth it in Canada? or will i get killed on shipping.
You can't be a partner in canada at this time as far as I am aware

It is quite difficult, it's a good start for some smaller guys and some larger manufacturers make out well

Seems like if you’re a boomer you’d get lost with this lol
race to bottom
For my start-up shop, it's sustaining me to get with larger customers. I would have gone out of business by now
There for sure a bunch of competition
I see this argument/complaint a lot. Isn’t that just part of how capitalism works?
