Loved the movie. 💕 The only disappointing part was the food or ‘axone’. For those who don’t know what axone is it’s fermented soybean and 👆🏽not how you prepare it. There’s so much better way to prepare and it taste amazing once you acquired it.
Akhuni/ Axone is known as kinima among the nepali community and is widely eaten. Just to clarify as Sayani said “nepali log nahin banate na”. Get your facts right.
Nepali also cook this food it is called" kinema " some eat it some don't and even though I don't eat or like the smell of axone I don't have any problem in smelling it and it does not include any type of meat so why the problem?

Enjoyed the movie. It was nice to see the Northeast being represented and in some measure getting a glimpse of the culture from there. But wish it was mentioned someplace in the movie (unless I missed it, but seeing comments below probably not) what Axone is made of. It did get me curious enough to google it and learn more but without that curiosity anyone watching the movie would continue to believe( "arrey, wahan ke log kya kuch nahin kha daalte") and that would perpetuate the bias that already exists. Hoping to see more such movies from all parts of our country but especially the Northeast.

But in India everything is divided into two parts. High caste -lower caste, rich-poor, veg-non veg, relegion enmity as well as discrimination against minority section in india.

Almost every Oriental cuisine will have a fermented soyabean or fish ingredient which is a probiotic diet much alike the curd and cheese eaten in many other cuisines. There is no need to make a great issue out of food habits as is happening in some countries including India...this just shows that most of the people have not widely travelled or have mingled very less with the rest of the world. No wonder to some people the smell of cheese processed in very traditional way in some European countries are just unbearable. It's all about taste adaptation and not about cultural alienation based on food habit as is happening here.

We have a similar dish. We call it kinema. People from eastern side loves this most. I got lucky to taste it with pork when i visited Nagaland. But in Nepal people don't cook kinema/Akhuni with meats or i might be wrong. By the way it's a delicious food though it smells bad.
In fact Nepalese people eat similar kind of food called "kinima". It's prepared by fermenting soyabeans. It's very delicious and healthy as it contains probiotics.

this happened to us in guwahati. me and some girls from arunachal and naga were trying to cook fermented beans and our bengali neighbours complained about it and we were banned from cooking it anymore. 😞

I don't think with its nerve wrecking smell, fermented soybeans and pork it tastes even okay. But except this I just love ne Indians very good natured
Jitna dikhaya gaya utna bhi bura smell nahi hai ..yeah it's pungent but purey building mein failne jaisa smell nahi hai ...it only smells in the cooking area or kitchen .

Hmmm ..a girl playing d role of a Nepali n manipuri women in d movie were cooking axone n an Arunachalee girl who wants to eat axone on her weeding day no matter what makes complete sense😂..the movie maker should have done little research before making a whole movie.
@Sourav Kumar 😂😂nope..its basically fermented soybeans which most of the tribes of North East do eat but the kind of Axone dish they are making n d name axone itself is exclusive to naga community of NE. I don't think nepali people are into fermented soy. Although Manipuris n Arunachalee eat fermented soy but Axone with meat is exclusive to naga n not everyone can cook dt dish. So d movie was a bit disappointing bcoz so many basic stuff were wrong in it...Axone was d focal point but all three girls (two cooking n d one for whom they were cooking ) wasn't even Naga. N even d nature of marriage was so stupid 😂. Trust me no Arunachalee girl would wish to hv axone on her wedding day.

@@moimoi3681 there is actually no rule on how to eat it. It goes with everything. Each individual has own way of preparing kinema. It goes with everything ( soup, curry, pickle, with veggies, with meat etc etc)
