Octavia is bigger than A3. It is a mid-sized sedan and not a large-ish compact like A3. I love its liftback practicality and large boot. It feels like a sunken SUV. Its bigger wheelbase means more space inside too. this is the first review where the verdict was "small rear legroom". That's because not only the driver is 6'5", but also seats quite back compared to others with outstretched hand. I am 6'1 and would have no problem sitting behind a 6'1 person in this.

Very nice, comprehensive review. I just put a deposit on a Lava Blue Limited wagon. I’m getting rid of a 2yr old Mazda CX-5. It felt great to be back in the wagon. I found it reminded me of my Saab 9-5 Aero estate. I look forward to more reviews. Lloyd

Thanks for the reply Alex. As a car nut I’ve driven many cars and often feel as your review indicates, when confronted with new controls. More so now as I’ve been a professional car detailer for the last five years. Remember, after you own the car, adjust all the settings to your liking, and then use it on a day to day basis, the complications will go. All cars have their idiosyncrasies - particularly Porsches and Maseratis in my experience.

Interesting to see how similar and yet very different it is to my British version of the Skoda Octavia. Mine is also a hatch back, SEL First Edition, manual and 1.5l petrol. But I'm sure the petrol tank is 55 litres.
It's nice and economical. I get 62 mpg on motorways (??l/km) and around 40 mpg in city driving. I agree about the infotainment system. I wish I could adjust the a/c with a knob and not needing to push several buttons. Interesting you didn't like the steering. I find mine very responsive and not "whaffty" at all. Great for parallel parking. I can't imagine they have different sort of steering for different countries. I like the rubbish bin, though. We don't have that! Lastly, just done the currency conversion. You are getting a much higher spec car for the money than we do, and it's definitely NOT a small car.

It's always interesting to see how carmakers spec their cars for different markets. Usually it feels like we get a bit short changed in Australia... Thanks for watching!

What do you find better to drive ? Hyundai i30 n-line premium sedan or this?

    • @4wheelsandaseat

The Skoda is a bit more refined, but the Hyundai is more fun to drive with better dynamics and engine performance. Thanks for watching!

Did you find the Hyundai to have a lot of road noise? I've got the n line sedan and find the tyres loud

You must have had the drivers seat set right back…… there is loads of legroom in the back

Why are all car -journalists about 2 meter, thats far from average and makes even reasonable big cars(like skoda octavia) small ?

If you have 2.0 TSI 4x4 DNNA engine - gen4 (version from Audi TT 197hp gen3b): Stage1 304hp/425Nm (Power on demand option) and DCC+ H&R Sport Springs ,you have performance like Audi S3 and 600L trunk. Haldex6 90% power on rear wheels and 85% one wheel. On street look like every Octavia 🤣.

Rubbish. I have a 5 year old Octavia RS, which has done a bit over 100,000 kms now. Best car I've ever owned in over 50 years of driving.
