The combination of MIDI Remote and Control Center is so powerful. I originally bought my Maschine Studio to do exactly this, and I never could outside Maschine software itself. Glad I did not sell it. :) I just wish I could use the jog wheel to move the cursor. It works great for "AI Mouse control" though.
so cool! Shame the quick controls are only limirted to 8. I have a rocksolid audio controller and want to midi map my vst channel strip eqs, which I would need 10 or 12 minimum. Im sure I can do this I will deep dive in cubase settings...
Great video! I've tested this on my Komplete Kontrol S series and while the 8 knobs can be mapped as Quick Controls Focus, the moment the instrument track containing an instance of Komplete Kontrol VSTi is selected, the focus ability is broken. It's like the KK hogs the smart focus ability until the track is no longer selected. For example, I can control a compressor applied to that track but I'll have to make sure the KK track is NOT selected, or the focus will be lost to controlling the parameters of the KK instrument again.
I have the P1 as well and it’s great. I’ve been looking for coloured buttons and sliders like yours but no luck finding them. Can you tell me where you got them or did you paint them yourself. Great Videos!

The best controller for Cubase 12 - after the production of the Steinberg CC121 has ceased - for me is the PreSonus FaderPort V2 (one fader) together with the new version (08.08.2023) of the midi remote script written by Werner Mairegger with the extensions written by Christian Oestmann. x-touch mini contoller has 2 layers, you can assign both layers by adding more buttons and assigning them, then switching layers on the controller,outputs seperate cc.. .example, fader as filter cutoff on layer 1, fader as channel volume on layer 2.overall finding controllers doing what they should of 10 years ago
thanks was hoping it would help people as isnt much info on which controllers are worth getting.i found the x-touch mini best one ive used so far, also got the akai midi mix with modded knobs and had an icon g2 pro. ive had custom overlays printed for the controllers which takes them to a new level and would recomend most people make their own using available templates.ive found just having seperate sections blocked off and labeled for controls with colours gives a whole new vibe to how i use the controller.
How can I import/export my Midi remote MAPS (not the scripts, but the MAPS)? I can retain the Focus Quick controls and some other global features like Edit, of course----but when I map out my other 24 controllers for a VST instrument, then go to a new project, that mapping is lost. There doesn't seem to be a way to import/export like we had in Generic Remote. Am I missing something?
Am I right in thinking that the focus quick controls are the closest equivalent to Ableton parameter mappings (and macro mappings) then? Are you really limited to 8 of those? That's a shame if so. Other than that it all looks great!
Well done. I wish I had seen this before spending the last couple of hours setting things up for Launchkey mini mk2. Now that I have set up my knobs to be faders (and I get how to make the pads do other functions) can I still use the pads to create drum beats? If so how do I set this up? I have the pads imputed on the remote device screen but I can't get them to make a sound. I am not sure what to add through mapping assistant. Any thoughts appreciated.

I read the manual 3x (I did not understand much! Yes, I am dumb in electronic stuff.) I called Cubase, they sent me a video. I watched it. I tried it. Nothing. I watched other TH-cam Videos and still, nothing! My guess is that (besides my being so dumb) I am not making my gear communicate with CubasePro12. The only button I got in the map does not react at all. Everyone seems to be able to add buttons, sliders, and knobs by simply touching them, the Voila! factor skipped me. I have a Nektar P4 similar to your P1, I was curious if you are still using the intergraded software from Nektar for Cubase or you just using it as a generic controller and mapping everything now with the midi remote? Seems they (Nektar) stopped updating the software so maybe this method might be a little future proof.
Yeah, the old Nektar software integrated perfectly with Cubase but they stopped supporting and started developing a new software that wasn’t as good… so yes, I now just use it as a generic controller.

I guess the controller made a midi connection to your soundcard, but what connection are you running further to your PC/DAW? I am one of those idiots with a SaffirePro24 without midi and it connects to PC via on current mainboards no longer featured firewire anyway so i ended up running a second PC only to operate my beloved soundcard crap and if a usb connection is enough for the midi interface, i can spend my money on Cubase 12 pro. Look like a lot of fun

I hope they don’t get rid of them just yet, but yes, I’m sure they will implement the ability to map to 3rd party plugins that are not in Focus in an update soon
I’m far from an expert on plugin development, but as far as I know most developers have their own proprietary methods for dealing with presets in their plugins - so I think for a DAW to be able to access them it would have to be on the devs side to implement
Anything that can be automated or scripted in the logical editor can be mapped to the midi remote. So faders - yes, banks is dependent on if the particular plugin allows them to be
if anyone reads this ...where do the scripts 'reside'. my mk3 script weeks in developing simply became disconnected and then couldn't be connected and now has disappeared completely from my mapping (lower pane). if anyone has experienced this i'd sure like to read of any solutions.
What is your thought about Ableton Push 2 with cubase 12? As Cubase 12 and Ableton 11 don’t support rewire anymore, do you think Push 2 will have any use with Cubase 12? If so, an advice about it would really welcome. Thank you
I no longer have a Push 2 so I can’t say for sure, but if I remember correctly there was some setting on it that just sent midi out. If that is so then it should work pretty well

@@uk.leonardosants I don't own a push, but I still had an old apc mini here which I have now added. I was able to insert it without any problems and now I have the option of storing 64 macros on the pads. Have now started filling it with shortcuts and I'm in the process of labeling each pad :)
Does the Midi script work for everyone? when I import the script it doesnt recognize my midi controller but I can see the Midi controller works with Cubase. Just curious if everyone has had any issues with it?

do you know how to change vsti presets with midi remote? I´ve tried the Preset next/previous command in my 2 mici controllers but nothing happens in any of my vst synths.
@@circaxx85 What I'm having trouble with is losing the not the FOCUS QC but the other VST controls that I've mapped. I've got a 24 knob controller. The FOCUS items stick, as do "global" things like EDIT and OPEN CHANNEL Editor---but individual settings I've made within a soft synth are lost. In Generic Remote I could import/export those settings. There's no way that I can see that you can import/export the unique mappings.
@@steinwaygoat there is an import/export. I found it by accident the other night. I don’t remember exactly where is was, sorry. But I was able to import some settings and export/save my current setup. It’s there. It’s just that everything is new and not in memory yet

Is there a way one can map the drum pads to play the 12 notes of a key and have buttons to change the octaves?
I believe there is a +12 and minus +12 in the logical editor that you could map

I just left my pads unassigned and they continued to play regular midi notes

No, the controller does not connect to the soundcard. It just connects straight to the computer/DAW via USB

Cant get it to work with Korg Taktile...maybe its just to crapy as a midi controler...you get that working Via USB Or Midi connection I/0?
I don’t think they are getting rid of track quick controls I think moving forward you’ll only be able to access them via the new panel.

You have to press the Internal button in on the top right hand corner of the P1 for it to control the midi remote

Not sure if you are asking a question or not… but, no, neither of the controllers I showed in this video have keys
do you know how to change vsti presets with midi remote? I´ve tried the Preset next/previous command in my 2 mici controllers but nothing happens in any of my vst synths.

Focus quick controls instead of just quick controls will follow whatever plugin you have in focus for control

@@circaxx85 What I'm having trouble with is losing the not the FOCUS QC but the other VST controls that I've mapped. I've got a 24 knob controller. The FOCUS items stick, as do "global" things like EDIT and OPEN CHANNEL Editor---but individual settings I've made within a soft synth are lost. In Generic Remote I could import/export those settings. There's no way that I can see that you can import/export the unique mappings.
@@steinwaygoat there is an import/export. I found it by accident the other night. I don’t remember exactly where is was, sorry. But I was able to import some settings and export/save my current setup. It’s there. It’s just that everything is new and not in memory yet
