- On June 18, cellphone videos of a man being attacked by a mob in western Uttar Pradesh's Hapur - around 70 km from Delhi - went viral. It showed a meat trader, Qasim Qureishi, being thrashed; the 45-year-old died later. The crowd also beat up another man, 65-year-old Samiuddin, at times pulling his beard while shouting abuses at him for allegedly killing a cow.

Alan Sangma, but according to Indian constitution article 48 cow slaughter is prohibited.Because cows is an important animal for farmers as it is used for agricultural propose and india is still a agricultural country which produce food for 1.3 billion people in very limited land mass(compared to China and America which have 3 times more land mass than India ).
avinashpv pv, nothing wrong in eating beef but if the cow is young and usable in agricultural propose than it's illegal to kill her according to Indian law. eating beef is perfectly legal. so you can eat imported beef or eat by killing an unusable cow (which is normally older than 15-20 years).

There is a very old and time tasted say that 'When in Rome do as the Romans do', It can also mean that when you are in an unfamiliar situation, you should follow the lead of those who know the ropes.
Though Indian Muslims in India do not staying in a foreign land but it is wise to honour fellow neighbours' sentiment and customs in order to get respect and avoid hospitalisation.
So what you say is that the Muslim must follow the custom and sentiment to get respect but the Hindu don't? Even though they are still Indian but they have a different faith.
