Ohhhh the nostalgia, and how much I love this game. Only thing I hate is the battle system and some of the music.
That being said, I feel like most reviewers take this game 100% seriously, which is why it usually gets low ratings. Neptunia is a PARODY. If reviewers would keep that in mind, this game would have much higher ratings.
Same here its just for fun, and unlike other games this franchise is a focuses in making comedy and gracious moments
the healing item system was my fav its the first game i ever played with a prediction system where in each turn of the battle you predict the amount of damage and change the % of what healing item to be used, although i never realized it until i was near the end of the game
I've always wondered whether the 30% healing item was being prioritized than the higher % item was a bug when the higher was at 100% and the lower healing item had a 50% chance of activating
To be fair this game isn't perfect. I would give it a 6/10 at best. The writing is EXCELLENT and better than in Rebirth 1 even, but it has serious framerate issues, presentation is lacking and the game looks empty. The mechanics are nice and I love the Soundtrack and Story but I can absolutely see how one would end up giving it just a 4.
It's not as refined as, lets say, Neptunia VII.
I think much of the criticism of the game is directed on the gameplay itself
I can agree with most of this, but I think the battle system/maps were more unique than the other 3 games, how many other Neptunia games are exactly like this? I also liked the auto healing item system, its kinda like Atelier's auto healing system, without so much OCD item crafting and you can just simply set the percentages you want.
Ah the best opening in the entire series.

When i saw this intro on TH-cam back in 2010 i never imagined this would be ported to the US. Let alone be the start of Compile Heart's most successful franchise. I still am amazed every time i hear a new game announced merely because this series is so widgety that i never believed it would sell.

Compa suddenly makes Re;Birth years later... so much for the exclusivity. I wish people who got to play Neptunia firsthand from the Re;Birth ones would also experience the joy of playing these old ones.
Hyperdimension Neptunia 1 and Mk2 had good OP songs due to 5pb but since Victory came, it all changed. Megadimension is an exception though. I really love the songs there as well, especially Katharsis.
mk2 is still the best game in the series for me, i really liked the combat system :(
Nah, more like the exclusivity of the *good* games. I've played Re;birth 1 and the original. Re is just really dumbed down. Good chunks of the plot are missing from it too. They should have ported the Ps3 original to 360. That could have fixed the frame rate issues.

Most were just pissed off regarding the exclusivity thing not because they're selfish, but because they were marketed wrong. I am not a console person and only play JRPGs on my PS3. I wished Neptunia was for PC but they said it was exclusive for PS3 so you'd obviously think they aren't going to bother making PC ports and the like but they did 5 years later. /5 Years/.
And if you don't mind me pointing fingers to those annoying elitists of the Neptunia fandom who only heard of Neptunia because of the Re;Birth series lol.

This intro felt so much more cooler and badass. Re;birth 1's isn't the worst, but !F really shouldn't have made that opening. It doesn't feel cool like how it use to.

I totally agree with you on that part. I find this one better too. The new intro is pretty much the only "worse" thing of the remake.
+Marci Eri The one other thing I don't like about re;birth is the main menu. They also should have kept the slide show of the different places. Like Planeptune and Leanbox.
+Marci Eri I've been experimenting with putting this opening into Re;birth 1. Its hard converting videos into the USM format that the game requires though.
I wouldn't even know where to begin with the little modding experience that I have.
Maybe I will try to fiddle around with it if I got the time.

A friend only recently brought the series to my attention, when the remakes were coming to Steam.
Upon seeing a let's play of the original, I really wanted to see that old intro in re1 though.

im really enjoying this gmae, the story is great and its got a good RPG factor to boot. if you like heavy story drivin RPG's with an all female cast.
I was amazed by how good this game actually is. I guess I was right to ignore negative comments from most people saying nonsense like "graphics worse than a ps2" or by people who hate moe/anime style anyway.

Both the PS3 intro and the Re;birth intro for PS Vita and PC are awesome! Though I think I personally prefer the intro for Re;birth 1. :3
Yeah me too. I can't choose whether is PS3 or Re;birth intro are awesome. So, my opinion and decided is both of them because i don't have or hate bad negative. That's why i don't want to leave them alone. What about the spinoff games and crossover?

Yeah Re Birth 3 op is awesome, but to be honest all Nao songs are amazing. Even though I don't have the lyrics in front of me everytime to read what the song says, in some way it gives energy to smile even in the hardest moments... like mk2 opening kirihake gracie star.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 is old news. Victory is headed to North America next month and Kami Jigen Idol Neputne PP is the next installment in Japan.

well. all i got to say to this game is that i want this game. im ok with the special edition one but the box it self should be cheeper. of course ign gave it a 6.0 and most ppl thinks how stylish the girls are or there HDD form looks. but the RPG battle looks stunning to me. i like it. sometimes i don't care how the girls looks or how cute they are. just like my reaction on the movie sucker punch. i just like the action of this game and the movie. and as well as the characters and the plot.
Looking at this game now, it was less moe than any later installment

@obelisco001 From what I understand, though, the meanings/severity of those words are inverse from how we use them. While "ecchi" for us is fanservice-level, "H" for them is out-and-out adult material. And while we refer to anime-porn as "hentai", that's more akin to "pervert"/"perverted" for them.
Unless I'm wrong. But considering how my friend's cousin reacted to my suggestion that a girl band she was showing us was "ecchi", it seems about right.

well i might like this as an anime, they have a nag for twisting the story and making it so interesting to ppl who dosent even like anime.

well, I tried neptunia mk2 and it was awesome, I think I'll try this game, and neptunia v when it comes out.
While I admit the level design is boring and repetitive, I did enjoy the game a lot. People who don't get the jokes and references probably wouldn't appreciate it as much.

As for the conquest ending, in my own opinion, unpopular none the less, I find it interesting. I won't say what it is so I don't spoil anything for anyone else, but pretty much its concept is interesting of how you save the world. Cheerful, not at all. Unexpected turn of events,yes.

Actually that would be awezome; think about it, the players being like civilians that work for the goddess, doing quests and missions togheter with other players!. Or even the chances to get missions were you play togheter with one of the goddess to complet a mission. The whole plot in the game/anime would work perfect for such.

Sega Neptune was not going to be a successor to Sega Saturn. Neptune is a combination of Sega Genesis and 32x.
