Dental Bur Rake Angle

Often, the details are omitted (or forgotten) of the little things that aid us in our daily tasks. Take for example, rake angle. We all expect that our burs will cut tooth material, lab materials, composite, porcelain- but - if the bur was flat, it wouldn't do much. This is a start of a few videos regarding the basics of the basics - how things work.

Cutting Dentine- definition- "the blade engages dentine and force is exerted until the compressive strength of the dentine is exceeded, at which point a crack propagates through the weakened dentine and causes a chip. The size and shape of dentin chips produced depend on the rake angle, sharpness of blade and force applied." You like Endo, "TH-cam" endohandle.
