@Onisha O’Neil did you know that humans technically are a type of animal. Also some animals have the same behavior as humans. So what she said would be more on observation than comparison.
@Onisha O’Neil So it's not the innocence that you find adorable, but only the fluffy form, eh? You are the kind of person who would still buy a fur coat and would put cute creatures in tiny cages for your own amusement.
Its probably for the best we didn't have more of the clip of the mom otter conforting the otter baby. I already watch this clip about 6 times a year at random. If we had more of the clip, we wouldnt be able to live our lives. We'd be watching and re-watching
The Mom pulled up like: _“What’s up, I was getting us a bite to eat, ready to go home?”_ *Then the baby just plopped down clumsily into the water while crying*
@Lara The baby didn’t “leap” anywhere. He tumbled butt first into the water because babies are clumsy. These photographers did absolutely nothing wrong in the slightest, and you should learn to curb your rampant self-righteousness.
This is so endearing and fascinating for two particular reasons: 1) The baby otter literally sounds like a crying human baby 2) The way the mother sweetly strokes and consoles the baby, like a human mother would
Mammals have a lot of similar behaviors because they share a section of the brain to do with emotion and social connection that other animals do not have.
These otters must be very habituated to people. I was “awing” at a baby otter practicing swimming maneuvers with its parents on a river in the Olympics and the parents tucked the baby under the far embankment and came swimming at me FAST with murder in their eyes. Adorable, but fiercely protective.
Sometime the babies get caught in fish counting traps at work and the parents are very protective. Hissing at you and stuff. Once a parent got stuck and after eating some fish it chewed it way out though the 2x4's.
The mother rushes the her baby's rescue and begins comforting the baby by stroking its back as it's clearly flustered from falling in the water. Don't tell me that other animals besides humans don't feel.
@Social Injustice Goblin Anthropocentrism does not directly mean what you just described. I clearly don't believe humans are more important than any other entity as I have direct empathy to these otters and are saying that their shows of intimacy and affection are indeed meaningful. I understand what you're saying in regards to transposing gestures humans are familiar with onto animals, but I believe it is totally warranted here.
@Social Injustice Goblin : Many studies in ethology and observations have now proved that animals DO have emotions and feelings. That’s not anthropomorphism, it’s a finding that animals and humans have more in common than was thought earlier.
@Social Injustice Goblin how vain we are as humans to think only we are capable of expressing and feeling emotions. New scientific studies say you're wrong, btw. Elephants even grieve family members when they pass away and hold their own "funeral" of sorts before the herd moves on.

@@randomcatmeow1394 It used to be more common back in the day. If you start work early and don't bother with college, why not. I think many Americans still do that (can't afford college or want to start making money ASAP) as opposed to native Europeans. In my country most people put off having children until they graduate and find a good job which sometimes means they never have any kids or have only one while construction workers, hair dressers, welders and car mechanics laugh at them with their brood. While my parents would have disowned me if I hadn't gone to university, I'm not sure I would do the same with my children provided they had a good profession in mind.
I am going to die trying to cuddle some wild thing’s baby. *edit* I hate that I even have to say this because this statement seemed very obviously a joke to me, but folks seem concerned that I might go into the woods and try to pick up and cuddle a baby bear with its mother watching. Your concern is very sweet and I truly appreciate it, but I can assure you I do not actually try to cuddle wild animals for the sake of cuddling wild animals. I have a deep love and respect for ALL life, which is why I have been involved in animal rescue for 30 years and human rescue for nearly 20 years. My body has received far less damage in animal rescue than it has in human rescue during that time. All jokes aside, if I am to die by the “hands” of a creature, it would far more likely be at those of a human creature. Non-human animals only kill for 3 reasons (to eat, to protect itself or to protect its family). They are, therefore, fairly predictable. If you avoid encroaching on them, you are probably not going to get attacked. Humans, on the other hand, don’t seem to always need a reason. :( Peace and love to you all!! Be cool and stay safe... maybe try your luck and give someone or something a cuddle.

@Onisha O’Neil did you know that humans technically are a type of animal. Also some animals have the same behavior as humans. So what she said would be more on observation than comparison.
Onisha O’Neil Ew please don’t compare this baby otter to adorable human babies thank you
@Onisha O’Neil
So it's not the innocence that you find adorable, but only the fluffy form, eh?
You are the kind of person who would still buy a fur coat and would put cute creatures in tiny cages for your own amusement.
@Onisha O’Neil Human beings are still a type of animal. Also, you literally just insulted yourself because everyone used to be a baby.
This touches my ❤! I have tears of Joy🥹. Love comes in many forms. Thank You for your video.
Its probably for the best we didn't have more of the clip of the mom otter conforting the otter baby.
I already watch this clip about 6 times a year at random. If we had more of the clip, we wouldnt be able to live our lives. We'd be watching and re-watching
The Mom pulled up like: _“What’s up, I was getting us a bite to eat, ready to go home?”_
*Then the baby just plopped down clumsily into the water while crying*

Best comment 😂
Many kudos to the photographer(s) for not "helping" the little one! Too many people think they are helping when they are doing anything but that.
Amen my friend go look at my comment
Unless they have plastic / rope on them ofc. That's human interference, thus we should undo our own damage on them.
Yep im sure its innocent enough but when wild animals smell another scent on their young they can abandoned them.😔
Ba Ri that’s actually a myth and has been disproven.
@Lara The baby didn’t “leap” anywhere. He tumbled butt first into the water because babies are clumsy.
These photographers did absolutely nothing wrong in the slightest, and you should learn to curb your rampant self-righteousness.
The "Oh my God!" 😮... Oh my Goood🥹😆 So sweet.
This is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life
I agree! You have a weakness for cute animals too, mamita?
This is so endearing and fascinating for two particular reasons:
1) The baby otter literally sounds like a crying human baby
2) The way the mother sweetly strokes and consoles the baby, like a human mother would
I hate crying babies
I guess somethings work for all animals
Mammals have a lot of similar behaviors because they share a section of the brain to do with emotion and social connection that other animals do not have.
Aww, the baby was scared looking down at the water so went butt first. It's so fluffy and cute!
Okay Karen.
Lara a lot of animals aren’t scared of humans and don’t need to be. We can coexist with our earth, we are animals too.

Damn you baby otters. Why do you have to be so adorable
That's how they get you. 😆
That's how they grew powerful enough to have their own army in that South Park episode.

Animals have Olympics?
@@85Sudi Pretty sure they either mean the Olympic peninsula in the NW U.S. or they mean when they went to the olympic games somewhere

How she pet her little after saving is great!
That Mother Otter shows more love and affection towards her baby than some Human Mothers do to their own children.
I remember reading baby otters cannot swim. They have to ride on their mother for about a year.

The mother rushes the her baby's rescue and begins comforting the baby by stroking its back as it's clearly flustered from falling in the water. Don't tell me that other animals besides humans don't feel.
Exactly.
@@No-ms3hj "Many animals do things out of instinct and survival that we find morally fucked up" and "Many animals have been shown to have emotions and care for other animals the way humans do" can and do coexist. It's not a black and white thing
I've come to the conclusion that otters may very well be the cutest things on earth, scientifically speaking of course.
I agree.
I thought the same until I stumbled into the replies of a comment above. I'm now scarred for life after finding out otters and dolphins are murderers and rapists 😣
@Laura Walker "murderers and rapists" wtf :DD

Baby otters are adorable
Because they are generally seen only in water, and thats how you see images of them, I never knew dry otters were so fluffy.
Fun fact: Mother otters fluff their babies fur, so air gets trapped in it and they float better in the water
Not so fun fact about otters: otters are known to rape and kill other otters. and im pretty shure there're also cannibalistic cant remember quite clearly though

@@randomcatmeow1394 - People can have kids young, you know.. My mum had me at 20, I’m 20 now, and could easily make her a grandmother at 40 (that would make my dad a grandfather at 43)
@@randomcatmeow1394 It used to be more common back in the day.

I've always loved sea otters. They are so sweet and they eat their food like humans do.
