I am in the same boat as @Jo C; "Im having trouble with getting the shape killing tool to work like you did at 8:17 - 8.38. Im getting these small edges poking out at diagonals or the shape killing tool goes within my lines and damages the parts of the pattern I want to keep."
I'm at my wit's end. I don't understand what I missed. What can I do?

Hi, Im having trouble with getting the shape killing tool to work like you did at 8:17 - 8.38. Im getting these small edges poking out at diagonals or the shape killing tool goes within my lines and damages the parts of the pattern I want to keep. I cant seem to cut at the angle I want with scissors or alter the end of the lines. How do I cut using the vertical lines you put down before you used the shape killing tool?

I'm having the exact same problem! I'm glad that I'm not the only one!

Excellent tutorial, thank you. How does it look when you try to make sharp points like a square? Do the corners look okay?

The way the pattern brush works you would need to create a "tile" for the corners. AI gives you spots to make custom tiles for corners and end points for your pattern brushes. I got a few books by Aidan Meehan since I made this tutorial and now if I get a chance I think I could make an easier-to-do method of making celtic brushes. If you are into it check out his books: www.amazon.com/Aidan-Meehan/e/B000AR9AJU/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1

+DigitalDidactics thanks man I'll check it out. I also noticed that when you selected a color, say dark blue, it would use a lighter shade of that color (light blue). Why doesn't it use the actual color? Can you make it use the actual color?
