That's adorable, and the guy did the right thing, too! Mama deer sometimes leave their babies in people's yards or close by humans because they know other predators don't like us, so it's best to just leave 'em where you found them. What little cuties!

I have no problem if they let the animals run and get the chance to feel free. Most animals are not meant to live in a house. They will be much safer in a home and definitely live for much longer but they have wild instincts. It's better for you to visit them often rather than living with them in the same house. I found an abandoned baby deer on the road one day a few years ago. That deer has lived with me for 4 years now and he's never been better. I get some weird looks though because nobody expects somebody to have a deer with them. Now just to clarify: The mother completely abandoned the deer.

We found a new-born fawn next to the spigot at side of our house in spring of 2023, it was late morning. Baby fawn sooo frail - couldn't walk, she just lay there curled up against the foundation. My wife was startled by the little fawn when she went to unwind the water hose for the burn pile. So, what did we do? We went about our day - yard work, cleaning the yard raking burn pile etc. We kept an eye on her, but we stayed clear and NO touching. Mama showed up around mid afternoon - and fetched her little baby ... she got up immediately wobbled over to mama and the feeding began. These two still come by almost daily - they are doing very well.

However, it’s still recommended that people don’t touch fawns because the added scent could draw predators. Fawns have faint scents asa protective measure. Getting human smell on them defeats that purpose.

yeah I hate to be a naysayer as well, but perfectly healthy fawns usually stay put and play dead. They have everything they need from mama and are taught not to move for anything. The fact that these fawns got up and interacted with him (looked like the one was looking for a nipple to nurse on), makes me think they actually needed help. They might have been hungry, something may have happened to mama. Their ears looked a bit dehydrated. I really hope they made it, but I'm afraid something was wrong here (mama dead).

Bruh Moment well, that they are doing is cutting down trees, but they legally have to replant them most of the time. the forest is going to grow back. and you can see in the last shot as well it is severely overgrown.
They actually have to to maintain a healthy forest. They don't usually cut those trees down on which there are nests and usually they cut 1 out of 3 or 5 trees, they'll also prioritize those which are already dead so it's not that they're destroying forests.

Found a dear like this once. Was really worried for it because it still had its spots and didn't have an adult deer anywhere near by. I sat a ways away and observed the deer, fed it a few maple leaves, but no adults ever came back for the baby. I figured it was a predator as it wasn't hunting season. I was too young to take it back and raise it, but it did go to a shelter, and I got a chance to hold the little guy and wait by the road with him. I've noticed that baby deer are weary, but are desperately looking for a guardian when they lose their parents. They follow because you came to them, reached out, acted slowly and did not harm them. The one in the woods followed close by me after I fed it (I waited 4 hours without approaching and it walked up to me) and talked to it gently. I'm pretty confident you could have convinced them to jump in the passenger seat with you. Baby deer are as sociable to humans as rabbits can be, and are very loving creatures. I feel sorry for these 2, as they probably didn't last long after he drove away, but such is the way of nature and it's never fair. I can take peace in knowing that they will feed others, and eventually become part of the earth so the other creatures may eat the vegetation that grows there. Death in nature is never fair, but at the same time, it's never in vain.
Their mom was probably watching them the entire time. That truck was so loud, those babies might not have heard her calling them back into the woods so their natural curiosity took over. Luckily the person they encountered was a kind soul and they weren't harmed or taken as pets. Those babies were healthy. I've had my share of fawns under my care and I know what malnourished, abandoned babies look like and these guys are fine. 💕

I feel horrible for those babies, for all you who do not know their mother is most likely dead. thats one of the saddest things about hunting and traffic incidents is the fawns that sometimes get left to fend for themselves. which in this case they would probably be dead as well maybe a few days after this video was took, if theyre lucky.
Lol. Nah Mom leaves them in the weirdest places. I worked over in a zoo that had breeding exotic deer over in the free roaming area and they would often have their young sit in the train tracks. Gotta stop the train and spook the baby out from the tracks. In the wild this is natural to leave them hidden near bushes and such but on the road these fawns were easy enough to spot. So him leading that one off from the road was a good thing.
Does often leave their young in safe environments and then go out for food. When I was staying in America on a student Visa (I live in Switzerland) there was a baby dear always next to the school I went to and every day at 3rd period the Doe and the fawn would walk onto school grounds, the fawn would sit in some bushes out front, and the Doe would walk off until school was over. The Doe obviously put the children in the bushes, but the Fawns must have walked out. The Logger was very kind to lead them back into the bushes and off the road.
It's actually requested by most wildlife organizations that you do not "save" young animals that have been "left behind" In most cases, the parents are only making a trip out, and plan on coming back. Imagine their distress when their healthy baby suddenly goes missing without a trace?
Hunter Strait hunting whether that may be regulated or not, is still a psychopathic sport that is so unnecessary. meat eaters already have enough choice on the market of farm animals being processed (cows, sheeps, pigs), now those choices aren't enough to people either (how greedy), hunters got to hunt other animal species either for pure sick enjoyment of watching another animal die (i mean if we hunted human beings, made it into some kind of game, we'll just automatically go to jail) or to eat? Like there isn't already enough dead animals available to eat, people got to go out of there way to kill more lives? all so unnecessary. This was a delightful video. Smart logger too. He knew not to touch them, put his scent on them, which would cause rejection from their mother. They plant more than they take. Believe it or there's a lot of thought in logging. How can a logging company continue to exist if there are no trees? They plant and harvest in batches, normally 15-20 different ones so at any given time 1 batch is full growth enough for harvest.

I see lil Fawns all the Time! Few Nights Ago throwing the Trash out I felt something was starring at me and a Deer and her lil Fawn where walking over to say hi just on the otherside of the not very wide Dirt Road. Sometime Deer Sleep 30 feet just off in the Woods from my Front Door, because there is something after them enough, they want to sleep by me, infact to comfrontable with me to the Point they'll Wake Me! Walking just Feet by my Window! But the Thing is they think I am like them and can just smell them or know what there Steps Sound Like, so they will let themselves be known to me, and now I assume it's the Deer, but before I would hear all that Sound in the Woods, and be like Okay what's Out there! But eventually I put it together it was just the Deer letting me know they were there (at Night!) and no longer even attempting to be Quite!

We found a new-born fawn next to the spigot at side of our house in spring of 2023, it was late morning. Baby fawn sooo frail - couldn't walk, she just lay there curled up against the foundation. My wife was startled by the little fawn when she went to unwind the water hose for the burn pile.
So, what did we do? We went about our day - yard work, cleaning the yard raking burn pile etc. We kept an eye on her, but we stayed clear and NO touching.
Mama showed up around mid afternoon - and fetched her little baby ... she got up immediately wobbled over to mama and the feeding began.
These two still come by almost daily - they are doing very well.

Getting human smell on them defeats that purpose.

yeah I hate to be a naysayer as well, but perfectly healthy fawns usually stay put and play dead. They have everything they need from mama and are taught not to move for anything. The fact that these fawns got up and interacted with him (looked like the one was looking for a nipple to nurse on), makes me think they actually needed help. They might have been hungry, something may have happened to mama. Their ears looked a bit dehydrated. I really hope they made it, but I'm afraid something was wrong here (mama dead).

Bruh Moment well, that they are doing is cutting down trees, but they legally have to replant them most of the time. the forest is going to grow back. and you can see in the last shot as well it is severely overgrown.

They actually have to to maintain a healthy forest. They don't usually cut those trees down on which there are nests and usually they cut 1 out of 3 or 5 trees, they'll also prioritize those which are already dead so it's not that they're destroying forests.

Found a dear like this once. Was really worried for it because it still had its spots and didn't have an adult deer anywhere near by. I sat a ways away and observed the deer, fed it a few maple leaves, but no adults ever came back for the baby. I figured it was a predator as it wasn't hunting season. I was too young to take it back and raise it, but it did go to a shelter, and I got a chance to hold the little guy and wait by the road with him. I've noticed that baby deer are weary, but are desperately looking for a guardian when they lose their parents. They follow because you came to them, reached out, acted slowly and did not harm them. The one in the woods followed close by me after I fed it (I waited 4 hours without approaching and it walked up to me) and talked to it gently.
I'm pretty confident you could have convinced them to jump in the passenger seat with you. Baby deer are as sociable to humans as rabbits can be, and are very loving creatures. I feel sorry for these 2, as they probably didn't last long after he drove away, but such is the way of nature and it's never fair. I can take peace in knowing that they will feed others, and eventually become part of the earth so the other creatures may eat the vegetation that grows there. Death in nature is never fair, but at the same time, it's never in vain.
Their mom was probably watching them the entire time. That truck was so loud, those babies might not have heard her calling them back into the woods so their natural curiosity took over. Luckily the person they encountered was a kind soul and they weren't harmed or taken as pets. Those babies were healthy. I've had my share of fawns under my care and I know what malnourished, abandoned babies look like and these guys are fine. 💕
Amen, but please referrr. To Fawns not babies. The vast majority of commmenters have only seen wild animals in cartoons and they jump at the chance to apply human traits to wild animals they dont’t know a damn thing about.

I know this bastard, whom asked several hunter acquaintances to get him newborn deer. "The best meat, I don't care if it's legal" he said. That statement cemented my resolve to end our friendship.
I feel horrible for those babies, for all you who do not know their mother is most likely dead. thats one of the saddest things about hunting and traffic incidents is the fawns that sometimes get left to fend for themselves. which in this case they would probably be dead as well maybe a few days after this video was took, if theyre lucky.
Lol. Nah Mom leaves them in the weirdest places. I worked over in a zoo that had breeding exotic deer over in the free roaming area and they would often have their young sit in the train tracks. Gotta stop the train and spook the baby out from the tracks. In the wild this is natural to leave them hidden near bushes and such but on the road these fawns were easy enough to spot. So him leading that one off from the road was a good thing.
Does often leave their young in safe environments and then go out for food. When I was staying in America on a student Visa (I live in Switzerland) there was a baby dear always next to the school I went to and every day at 3rd period the Doe and the fawn would walk onto school grounds, the fawn would sit in some bushes out front, and the Doe would walk off until school was over. The Doe obviously put the children in the bushes, but the Fawns must have walked out. The Logger was very kind to lead them back into the bushes and off the road.
It's actually requested by most wildlife organizations that you do not "save" young animals that have been "left behind" In most cases, the parents are only making a trip out, and plan on coming back. Imagine their distress when their healthy baby suddenly goes missing without a trace?
Hunter Strait hunting whether that may be regulated or not, is still a psychopathic sport that is so unnecessary. meat eaters already have enough choice on the market of farm animals being processed (cows, sheeps, pigs), now those choices aren't enough to people either (how greedy), hunters got to hunt other animal species either for pure sick enjoyment of watching another animal die (i mean if we hunted human beings, made it into some kind of game, we'll just automatically go to jail) or to eat? Like there isn't already enough dead animals available to eat, people got to go out of there way to kill more lives? all so unnecessary. "old enough to fend for themselves", that's sick a gun vs. an animal with no sense of weaponry or understanding is not a fair fight.

I went to live with a family in Europe who regularly hunts for sports or either use the animals to make some type of decorative art. They plant more than they take. Believe it or there's a lot of thought in logging. How can a logging company continue to exist if there are no trees? They plant and harvest in batches, normally 15-20 different ones so at any given time 1 batch is full growth enough for harvest.

I see lil Fawns all the Time! Few Nights Ago throwing the Trash out I felt something was starring at me and a Deer and her lil Fawn where walking over to say hi just on the otherside of the not very wide Dirt Road. Sometime Deer Sleep 30 feet just off in the Woods from my Front Door, because there is something after them enough, they want to sleep by me, infact to comfrontable with me to the Point they'll Wake Me! Walking just Feet by my Window! But the Thing is they think I am like them and can just smell them or know what there Steps Sound Like, so they will let themselves be known to me, and now I assume it's the Deer, but before I would hear all that Sound in the Woods, and be like Okay what's Out there! But eventually I put it together it was just the Deer letting me know they were there (at Night!) and no longer even attempting to be Quite!
So cute. Just want to hug and pet the little fawn.
