Is it a fully electric pickup truck? Does it have steer-by-wire? Does it have a ludicrous 0-60? Does it have towing capacity to match most ICE pickups? • @anthonylosego
      @anthonylosego หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Everyone is also forgetting that robotaxi is software. Not hardware. Meaning robot taxi dashes can be placed in any 48V vehicle, which is right now cybertruck, the compact, possibly a van, and the refreshed Y (when it comes). I assume 3, S, and X will get a refresh to 48V as soon as they get their suppliers making more 48V parts. They can swap out a dash on any product line. They DON'T have to make an entirely new car for robotaxi. So yes, it is the same platform as "robotaxi" and "model 2" but it's the same for all the vehicles. One dash for controls and one without. That means they can make any car going out the door one or the other depending on demand.

I disagree with you on the speed of robotaxi adoption. There are hurdles with insurance liability, with government regulations and with consumer confidence which need to happen before revenues from mass adoption start rolling it. These issues will take time to resolve and I am not talking months here.Dan is worried that foregoing Model 2 sales for the next 24 to 36 months will cost Tesla to lose significant revenues unnecessarily.

  • @TeslaEVolution

Robo-Taxi will be INSANELY BIG, but what you fail to realize is that, factor in is the TIME-VOLUME-FACTOR, THAT even if Tesla got "Robo-Taxis" approved TODAY and it worked, there are only 6 million Teslas on the roads and many owners might NOT want to do RT for various reasons - and as long as Tesla don't do ANY MARKETING, or PR (PR is kind of marketing though), it will take a LONG time for this to have a meaningful impact on the PNL for Tesla. 5 year timeline for robotaxi could be a fair estimate considering the time from unveil to first delivery for the last 7 vehicles:
    Model S - 3 years (2009/ 2012)
    Model X - 3 years (2012/2015)
    Model 3 - 1 year (2016/2017)
    Model Y - 1 year (2019/2020)
    Semi - 5 years (2017/2022)
    Cybertruck - 4 years (2019/2023)
    Roadster - 7+ years (2017/ ?)
Might be sooner, but probably 3 years minimum (with the time it takes for regulatory approval, and building wireless charging/ robo fleet infrastructure) Hope it takes longer to keep buying the dip ;)

The concern over the Model 2 situation is legitimate. My investment thesis has been that Tesla stock offers an asymmetric risk/reward opportunity because of the combination of the very high upside combined with the relatively high floor. Most investments with such a high upside have a low floor-for example any VC investment. The high floor is because even if FSD/etc doesn’t pan out Tesla will still be a very profitable company with their electric cars. Elon’s (possible) decision to shelve or delay the model 2 puts my investment thesis into doubt. Baron Capital agrees. This past week they said basically the same thing. As a daily FSD12.3.4 user I doubt the first Robotaxi ride will take place in the next few years. Elon has a long history of being wrong about the timing of FSD, so the fact that Tesla thinks it’ll be solved soon doesn’t give me a lot of confidence. Steven is very happy with the progress of FSD even though he doesn’t use it🙄

Incidentally, why doesn't the Australian government get rid of import duties on new cars?. Anyway back to Osborne, back in the 80's Osborne showed off their current release of PC, which looked great but they mentioned in the same promotion video that they also have an even better, cheaper version just around the corner with more memory. Why, you would wait, wouldn't you. Why buy something now when you can buy something new later with better bits and cheaper. This could affect the 3 & Y sales directly.

The underdog had their day, turning the world on its head amidst the white-knuckle drama of fluctuating market expectations. Every moment felt like a knife-edge, with decisions steered by the adult in the room, Elon Musk. As tensions reached a fever pitch, the narrative took a turn into a nightmare scenario, where each challenge seemed like opening Pandora's box. Yet, through it all, Tesla emerged against all odds, turning what could have been a Greek tragedy into a fairy-tale ending with surprising profit margins and innovative promises for the future.

What I mean is, a semi on side streets to a loading dock is a tall order, but if a driver takes it to the highway and it's 500 miles of highway driving before it needs to charge or deliver, that portion I can definitely see FSD handling once more improvements are made.

It always annoys me when people say there is no need for a Model 2. It's more than just the cost of the car. I live in Portugal and own a Model Y. It's just too big for this country. Most of the roads are old and narrow. But the worst thing is parking the car. The parking spots are just too short and narrow. It's a pain in the ass parking in the city. Most of the cars are just smaller here. They need to make a smaller car for the older cities of the world. Plus people will still want to own a car even if robotaxi actually comes. Uber and others like them exist and people still own cars. Lowering the price slightly is not going change things that much. I like my car. We do not need money today, we are sowing our current money into a super fertile farm (Tesla) in order to reap at some later date. Plant your money into TSLA and have the assured ripening in due course.

I don't understand why it's a part of the responsibility of leadership of a public company to provide a *stable* stock price...what is the thinking? I understand it will make borrowing money easier, I understand it will help uninformed investors avoid making bad choices, maybe, but on the other hand it seems to actually hurt those who truly understand the company, because it would give them great opportunities get in and even selling for profit, occasionally. Why are we as a society, in the west, so friggin obsessed with stability, it's caused many weird things, like the modern western social credit score or "monthly available amount", that does not count investements at all, only wages...I detest this risk-idiotic approach..

The biggest issue for tesla is Tony Seba robo taxi prediction, were everyone is just using robo taxies to get around, instead of owning cars, and there is 1/10th the car ownership out there. The only question is will people be willing to give up personal ownership of a car and just not own cars, knowing there is always a robo taxi on the street waiting to take then somewhere. I'm skeptical, people will give up personal ownership, but even if a good portion of people do, due to the significant cost savings and it's say 1/2 the people, well that nearly 1/2 the personal car market gone! Never to return, add China into the mix and the precipitous race to the bottom, like that which happened to solar PV, and tesla could be in deep trouble, not just tesla of course, others are even even worse trouble. As for robots, issue is tesla doesn't have a monopoly on robots, others are already coming out with automatous robots, I doubt robots will save telsa.

First time since I started buying TSLA I'm seriously scared for the company. If shareholder vote does not go through with a big margin, we have no idea what Musk will do. I mean its a trust and support vote is it not? Is the vote even binding in any way? I don't think so, but if Musk feels he hasn't got enough support from shareholders, future of Tesla is not looking bright. He said he is building a AI / robot juggernaut and needs to have control of the company. Is he comfortable doing it with 13%? Dude has unlimited money, he could start a new company tomorrow and even though I know it has many problems, he wont make the 5T Tesla if he feels that control of the company can be taken away from him. What do you guys think?

We just do not have enough information on this, Elon must have much greater knowledge on where Tesla is with Robotaxi. Let’s say he does unveil Robotaxi in August and it does what it says on the tin. All we need then is regulatory approval, this could be very difficult to obtain. Politicians will have to sign off on this and a lot of politicians are very anti Elon and Tesla and they have all sorts of spanner’s they can throw into the regulatory procedure, l don’t think they will be able to stop the process but they can certainly delay it.

I hesitate to share my thought about this whole Tesla story because in the long term it doesn’t even matter. And I will not sell any of my shares during the next 5-10 years anyway (and I’m already 67 years old :-) What if … we need a Model 2 even if the Model 3 and Y are approaching the announced inflation corrected pricing already. What if … Model 2 would nevertheless be introduced … what if … the Model 2 is really as important as the Wall Street traders think … what if … Model 2 and Robotaxi are being build on the same platform and the difference is a drive-by-wire unit either left hand or right hand side … what if … the announcement of Model 2 would stop customers from ordering Model 3 and Y today … what if … you have two similar EVs and one is causing the Osborn effect as mentioned and the other is beyond the imagination of 99% of people because they don’t understand FSD, AI, AGI, data lead, etc, etc … then … just announce the reveal of the Robotaxi … and … make f-ing sure you can introduce the drive-by-wire version to market within 6 months. But I’m not as smart as Elon and I’m sure that Tesla is doing the right thing for the planet and its shareholders.
