  • This topiary tour of Linda's garden is for those of you out there who are thinking of starting in Topiary and considering which varieties to choose. You all know I'm a boxwood babe, and Texas sage is another favorite in my topiary garden. Check out the Southern Living Plant Collection for links to some easy plants to help you get started.

Omg lady...♥ Thank you for all the details in narrative. You answered so many and every question in my head before I could even form it.
I sooo appreciate the specific names of the trees and details of care and etceteras. People have enormous gardens in TH-cam channels, they try but they run through the garden and talk gibberish in circles. You make ONLY sense with passion. Took a million notes in my garden journal 🙌🏻 THANKS sooo much🌳 💯% 💟

It’s a wonderful garden, really something to aspire to! Some people enjoy pottering about their gardens with a pair of secateurs in their hand - I certainly do - so you give folks like us so many clever and elegant or quirky ideas. And what you do is very much what gardening is all about: a collaboration between wildness and order. Thanks!

Love how you also appreciated making your own plants or finding self planted specimen. I do the same and keep finding little things gems in my garden. Question, I have transplanted a good size topiary boxwood (large leafed not sure of which cultivar it is) from one end og another end of the garden. I have prunes very little. Should I let just grow this year and prune next year and give it a little rest before I start shaping it some more?

I have three 5ft Green Mountain Cone Shape shrubs and have had them for years and are planted in the ground, there doing great. I bought the boxwood at the end of fall last year and I can't remember the name..lol anyways i'm trying to make them globe shape.

I'm new to your channel and yes I'm inspired. I'm looking at boxwoods differently now. I just retired and have been gardening like crazy these past 2 months with great joy. I have to say in all the previous homes I've purchased, including my current 100+ year old farmhouse here in Central Texas, I remove boxwoods instantly. I've always looked at them as the dreaded boxwood in yet another home purchase. They're never well taken care of and they've always looked quite drab. Because of your channel (seriously) I just purchased two Sprinter boxwoods yesterday in just 1 gallon pots. Now, what to do with them. I have a question and hopefully it's not stupid but topiary style gardening hasn't been an interest until now. I watched your entire topiary series this morning, which has left me curious about the double pouf. Wondering if you can cover that in more detail? Thanks so much. Regards, Penny

    • @LindaVater

Most of them do fine. Some of the really old ones in terra-cotta may crack. But our temperatures typically don’t get too cold that I worry about it much:)
