You can tell the band is feeding off the crowd's energy. One of the bands best preformances in recent memory. I'm proud of being Mexican \m/
@@MisticWays always gotta be a douchebag!!!! To quote the great Metallica "arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand".
@MisticWays Mexico brought more energy than the lifeless crowds in most of Europe and North America.
I've seen other footage of this show....Mexico was NOT fucking around! Even Kirk said he was surprised at how live this crowd was
The band and crowd are feeding off of each other. I watched this show in its entirety a few days ago and it made me want to be there.
say what you want... this performance rivals anything of theirs in the 80's. Goosebumps!!!
That performance is on par with Fight Fire with Fire at Donington 85' with Cliff...🤟🤟🤟
R.I.P. Cliff🎸
i will never get over that one part of the solo where they harmonize its truly amazing, its honestly my fav part of this song.
It’s maybe my favourite part of any Metallica song. It’s so sick. And always fun to see if they nail it live.
Absolutely. It's my favorite of theirs too! Another great one from their more recent albums is the harmony part after the first solo in All Nightmare Long.
For a moment I thought that someone was shooting with a machine gun, then I realised it was Lars. DAMN that was tight!
Brutal performance, Lars was absolutely epic. Had the chance to be there.
Lars killing it as usual. Never understood the hate he gets. METALLICA!!!!
3:08 masterpiece .
Man, when this part kicks in i feel so free between the cahos. It transcends the rough aspect of the general beat.
I love that bit from 2:55 - 2:59 where lars is playing one handed and james is just waiting for him to kick back in xD
Concerts in Mexico City and Moscow are the Best!!!
Anyone keep coming back to this video for 3:32 - 3:45?
Not exactly dave lombardo, but my god this is absolute destrction !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@hatred9427 because Lombardo play Battery with Metallica and they can't follow him.
Say what you want about Lars but he fuckin killed it here.
@@gugugyg I've been to 3 shows in the last year and Lars has been killing it
Mexico sure made metallica feel special love you guys from 🇮🇳, keep on rocking \m/
DAAAAMMMN LARS ON FIRE WITH FIRE!!! 3:30 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
+billshatcat Really jokes on you because what I heard here is exactly what I heard live a couple years ago, at a different concert though.
+billshatcat Everything in music is compressed. Do you actually think death metal drummers can hit 250bpm double bass without the help of triggers and compressors? No. Everything is edited. It's just to ensure the best possible sound. A compressor makes everything sound uniform, so one part isn't louder than the other. Lars played the bass drum, it wasn't subtle, it wasn't quiet and there are fan-recorded videos proving it.
Yes, they can, but not consistently, and the hits aren't "clean, uniform, and equal velocity hits". That's near impossible. They sound uniform to the naked ear, but once it's recorded and you're in the studio listening on monitors, you can hear the difference. It's striking to hear how different it sounds. You can even see the difference in the sound waves. All those hits are replaced by drum replacement software. That's why everything you hear on metal records sounds so uniform. Nothing about the drums are the real recorded drum sounds, except for probably the cymbals. That's pretty much it. Everything else is pretty much stripped away and replaced with drum samples. But that isn't the point. You're trying to detract from the performance Lars gave and idk why. He actually played the double bass in this and there are fan videos proving it. You said "shit never happened, I was there, it was quiet, subtle, and he was struggling to the end" when that isn't the case.
1:13 Mexicans ain't playin around. Selling popcorn in a mosh pit.
Beer, that makes every mosh BETTER!!! but is so expensive in concerts...
This should have been the Superbowl halftime show...
great audience, great dueling guitars at like 3:15, great pyro, lars is doing some of his best double bass... pretty great all around
this is one of the best live metallica performances I've seen (and I've seen a lot), they're really picking it up lately, everyone who's saying they should quit should ACTUALLY watch the video and get a harsh reality check from the greatest metal band of all time.
They've said it themselves, they ain't quitting until they physically can't do it no more, or til they die.
Disagree, I love them. They are one of the best metal bands of all time but I don’t think they are the greatest. To be honest, I dont think there is a greatest metal band
@@airconditioningunit9777 Yeah, there are too many sub genres and divisions that it’s incredibly difficult to actually have a “greatest” or “most talented”
The amazing part is that James doesn't even struggle with that lightning fast riff. He's relaxed and just has fun with it.
This video is proof that Lars can be a beast drummer when he wants.
No. It is proof that his live performances are edited and fixed for this kind of videos. Not that I give a fuck, mind you. He can suck as much as he wants or be as awesome as he wants, I don't give a damn, but facts are facts, and this video is edited.
Lmfao. You're really going on every comment and telling people that this is "edited". That's sad and pathetic. Yes, it's edited, but Lars did play double bass. As I mentioned in my other comment that you also replied to, he played it, and you can hear it live on fan recordings. The double bass in the live recordings is both fast, and sometimes it's inconsistent and obviously not as loud as this. Yes, it's been reinforced with drum samples, and compression, but that's done in every single live recording and every single metal album since Pro Tool came into existence. Every single metal album that you've listened to that was recorded from 2005 and beyond is littered with drum replacement. They get rid of the original drum sound that was recorded and replace it with a sampled sound, like a trigger but post-recording and in the studio. That's why Andy Sneap's albums sound the way they do. They do it both live and for studio recordings. That's nothing new. Yes, it's edited. I'm an engineer. What's your point?
+Scott Santos And this is clearly edited. You not being able to hear it and showing us a picture of yourself intended to make others believe that you're some sort of musician is the only truly pathetic thing here.
+Scott Santos My point is, you condone Lars' lazy approach to his instrument of choice, and obviously listen to bad music.
+Elder Yautija Lars could probably outplay you anyways, and when he is not lazy he's a beast drummer
Kirk Hammett is a one of the GOATS. Even at his age, he's still shredding. He murdered that solo, and in my opinion this is one of his best live performances I've heard. Period
1:19 Best cinematography of the year
2:48 James why you doin Lars?
Makuzi The Inuk
James was providing Lars with the energy to do double bass
Lars needed energy for the double bass and didnt want to openly do Cocaine on stage so James discreetly delivered it to him via Penis. Also called a "James Hetfuck."
3:30 I LOVE THIS SOO MUCH
@@ionpo8161 Not edited lol simply because it's Lars Ulrich you quickly assume it's edited but it's not he does it all the time.
@@fedora997 what I’ve been saying you can’t edit what he’s playing but you could enhance the audio and mix the show like they usually do don’t know why people still hate on Lars
I don’t care what anyone says, Lars is a fantastic drummer. He always kills it! 🔥
Silently Lars appears and took over, don't underestimate him, he can be a beast behind the drums whenever he wants.
Did u hear that?? All the metallica haters just got slapped in the face. Still the kings of thrash metal
Hey Lars did this song pretty well.
Thats what they should have called the band....Pretty Well. Because without Dave Mustaine they pretty well suck. Does that make sense? Yep. Totally.
@Ron Allen Mustaine is clearly an "also-ran" category (and a douchebag), they don't need him, and actually Megadeth is a very average trash band. I cannot hate it, but most of their music simply bores me.
@@ronalen7126 I think you might've pulled a muscle reaching for that joke
I remember a concert in the 80's. the atmosphere was amazing. the crowed was thinking "stage dive time" !!! I climbed on the stage and was just about to dive when kirk looked at me, I looked at him, he started his solo, came to me and we headbanged side by side through the solo, then I went a backward as far as possible, ran and jumped as high as I could in the crowed. amazing band, so close to the crowed.
isaac white Yeah we were talking about jump in the fire on swanthewhitepig's video.
This song absolutely shreds. I've been listening to this song almost 25 years and it still blows my mind at the speed and heaviness. This was really groundbreaking as I don't think any other band was playing this fast in 1984
M E G A D E T H.................F A S T E R....................B E T T E R
People always talking about james fast hand..but they never remember that kirk play side by side with him for over 40 years..of course kirk must play the same rhythm at the same speed.
There's something about the way that Lars does that double bass that sounds so amazing. Especially in here. As a drummer myself, I just love the sound of the way he does it! It always sounds like a thundering crack of a lightning storm to me.
3:30 Lars still has it
3:26 Kirk's face is just like : "we're done with this shit, bro"
crowds from other countries is in my opinion, the coolest shit ever! They have such a different type of energy but one that unites us all! Fuck yeah Mexico City, and fuck yeah Metallica! yall rock
I always wish they'd play the intro live ... such a lovely and textured sound and tease for the riff that's about to blow your face off!!!!
I particularly like Lars' accents on the main Riff 1:15 - 1:17 then at 1:28 - 1:30.
The crowd, the band's enthusiasm, everything about this is fucking awesome
The duet with Kirk and James though 🔥😮💨
one of the best performances from metallica for the last 20 years.
If Hanneman wrote this itd be considered one of the best thrash songs ever. Metallica can be brutal
i loved this song from ride the lightning but now on full volume it came after raining blood and ITS FUCKING HEAVY
It's written by metallica and it is considered as one of the most brutal trash songs ever.
Awesome guitar harmonies at 3:08, that's the Metallica I remember and love.
I remember when i was in high school like grade 8 (1982..ish)....When i heard this song for the first time, It made me a metal head for life! Thank you Metallica!
GODDAMN LOOK AT THAT CROWD 2:26 !!! Reminds me of 80s and 90s crowds !!!
hi hat is very clean.. actually drum sound is great.
This is probably the best performance of this song in their latter years.
2:41 'Then sue me!' Lmao
The guitar harmonization of this song is epic, thanks cliff 💛
I've heard many versions of this song, but this one is definetly their best performance so far, with Kirk's flawless solo, how James joins the second solo at 3:08 and that revving bass by Lars. Man, they sure are getting better with the years.
fight fire with water
If you fight fire with water on burning oil, you are going to get better results listening to metallicas words
Totally awesome. The whole band murdered this track
Shit man this is the best I've ever heard this played. The energy, the precision, the speed, the sound. Everything is fucking awesome.
This performance alone is why i love this song so damn much
I've seen a lot of videos recently of Metallica live. A lot appear that they are slow and dont have the energy or aggression that I'd expect from Metallica. But that is understandable, given their age.
This video proves they still have it.
Lars fucking kills it live!!! Screw haters, Lars rules!!!
Warpig of The Power i must warn you that this was edited later. The double bass drums here, are not the ones you heard live. So what ur saying is that the editors did a great job ( which i agree )
Rikarwb i dont think this is edited i mean this double bass was only played twice throughout the whole song, thats not too hard, other songs have to be edited though because of longer parts
dudleypunch101 for lars is very hard XD Im sure its edited because the sound of the bass drums seem so "fake" ( at least from a drummer like lars, no offense ). And besides this was the death magnetic tour ( not sure ) so they always edited the bass drum
Rikarwb yea lol lars, but because of my love towards metallica im going to act like it wasnt edited even if lars needs alot of work
dudleypunch101 i like metallica, but i wished lars could actually move his ass and practise xD ( dont come with the age excuse ) "with practise comes perfection" he is not as good as before, because he doesnt want to, which saddens me a lot :(
Best perfomance of a metal band EVER
Everything is that much better in 🇲🇽! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I couldn’t imagine to live in a time without Metallica 🤘🏼😊❤️🔥🎸
I smiled SO MUCH while watching this. This is one of the best performances I have ever seen. And to all the Lars haters, try playing this song on drums. Seriously. Lars was on fire!!!
2:54 this is why i love larz
I always skipped this song when playing the cd, but after I saw them play it live, I can't stop listening to it!
Soooo great!!! They had an awesome crowd too!!! Played perfectly! Such great energy all around
And yet people dare to say Lars sucks...
To be honest, he simplified the song entirely, and he didn't use any of the original fills. But again I'm with you on this one :)
This video only shows how much he sucks. Listen to the original version and find all of those cool and necessary drum fills here. He plays shit.
Well I think this is the best live performance I've seen from them that was recorded after the 90s
México & Metallica, siempre serán la mejor combinación!!
Todos de los miembros de Metallica tienen herencia de Mexico. No me crees? Todos son Californianos, y California era parte de Mexico. Hay todavia unos Californianos, como yo, quien pensamos de California como el Mexico del Norte. Viva Mexico. (acentos omitidos).
Pero muy fomeke
El publico mexicano
En chile se vive
El metal con honor y gloria👊👊👊👊👊
I just noticed this, 1:58 is Lars playing triplets or wtf is he doing? whatever he is doing, it sounds fucking awesome.
Double time on one pedal. It's pretty common. There is way more complex drummers these days. But Metallica always has some good basic metal drums
One of the most heaviest and much more brutal song ever by Metallica!\m/\m/\m/
Robert is luckiest person ever..
He just join metallica and now he has everything..
There's some energy right there. I love how Lars did the part with a stick in his mouth 😂 that was cool. It makes you break your neck seeing them playing like that coz the energy is on a pretty high level 😎
They were really on there game at this concert the disposable heroes effort here was flawless and this is up there too.
3:32 and I though the 2nd bass of Ulrich's set was just for decoration nowadays :O it sounds fucking great
Amazing performance, they are the soundtrack to my life
James is a good amongst men playing that fast and singing is insane we all love you papa
AaaaaaaaaAaah!!! God i love Metallicaaaa!!! CRAZY!
Love the crowd... Like the crowd from olden times. Yeah baby that's what you when Metallica performs for you... You go crazy!!
This makes me proud to be a Metallica fan!! \,,/
I love when James does his "growl" voice during the first verse🤘
Thank you Metallica for up-lifting me since i was around 10 years old, now i'm 40. Metallica is The Mother and Father of 'Em All
They managed to bring the 80's back here...fucking amazing
Who the fuck says Lars ain't still got it? 🔥
The video is actually almost 7 years old, even if he did good that day he sure isn't good today...
***** He's actually like this now. In 2015 he was suddenly very tight and did a lot of the fills he used to when he was younger. He seemed to still have it at the "Super Bowl" show.
best harmonic guitar solo of all time
Awesome. Like the dual lead between them. So tight!
De poca madreeeeeee, me puso hasta arriba😡👊
This is a song the Kirk actually wrote called Fight Fire with Eyeliner
Killer! They sounded so good. Def one of my fav's and IMO one of the best album openers ever. Brutal and fast...pure gold
Gods of Metal
Lars dropped every sigle drop on energy on that double bass at 3:30
i tought the exact same thing lol
it was amazing
