I have the OG Hitch Hiker and still use it on occassion. Richard's new HH looks like a much better design. I am very tempted to invest in one. 🤔 Thanks for sharing and keep yourselves safe! 😃👍❤🌲 Randy
The screw on the backside of the climbing device is not for adjustment!!! It's for the lubricant! So the device won't get hot on fast descents and the rope gets water-resistant too... Best Design ever! 🤣Cheers, Reto
I've been wanting to try the Hitchhiker. Even though I'm a mechanical engineer and am drawn to completely mechanical solutions, the Hitchhiker seems to work very well and is probably more rope friendly than say a Roperunner. Pro. I do want to see the new Buckingham descender first before I buy more gear.
I’ve been running a zillion for years with ditty bag. More rope the better. Add a petzl snap. Love it and you can still bring a steel flip. Nice to see you running new gear and showing others 👍 be safe everyone!
Great job Damien, still the best hround guy ever. Even when climbing. But we all need to take a moment of silence for the flower pot. Haha. Yall stay safe homies.
I love my zillon, but... as an east coaster with east coast trees i have to be careful about side loading whenever im in unusual positions or awkward limb walks. It is easy to bump and adjust without warning. Like most devices, i wouldnt recommend for a new climber. Could use a better rope too but i suspect its not meant to be a primary lanyard in place of a steel core, nor should it, but its an amazing piece of kit
@Damien: French pronunciation of Zillon, ...since it is a Petzl thing: zee-onh (onh=nasal sound ...with no hard N sounding) ...and I like that "double cut" 16 inch firewood size chunking method. Not hanging the saw on your harness for every cut, and only lifting it off the harness once for two cuts. A real energy saver.
The HitchHikerXF works perfectly on my MB harness, attaching to the ring on the bridge with a 'biner, like it was made for it. Very effective, with minimal sitback in SRT and as smooth as can be in descent, using DRT. Very happy with it after nearly a year in use. The friction adjuster is a work of mechanical genius, but I find a thin elastic cord in a girth hitch a more convenient attachment than the (otherwise useful) heavy rubber band that came with it. The plug is attached to my MB suspenders with the little 'biner Mumford includes. Thanks for confirming my bias on this machine!
I've been running the hhx for a while now, so much better than the rope wrench, in my opinion, works in drt without having to remove anything plus no extra friction when on limb walks pretty compact too. 👍
Another thoroughly enjoyable and educational video. Damien's bridge is getting a little fuzzy, just wondering about your criteria for retiring rope. I'm also thinking it would be cool to put worn ropes in your testing device, "Monkey Beaver rack" to see when failure happens.
Damien August: just one things: I don't like all ropes hanging below the arness near the line of fall of those branches. Prefer them dressed and packed at the arness and dropped when needed. Note: it works for climbing ropes no more then 10.5mm. Along the years it happens witness weard situations with falling branches that get stuck with the ropes. Better to avoid to live longer. Hugs.
Hey August, would you ever consider giving some tips for starting a tree business? I’m starting a small business up in NW Washington and it’s a little daunting. I have been watching your videos for the last eight years and have learned so much. Appreciate you!
Does that zillion really work? You can slack under load? You made me squirm a few times watchin ya up there just slackin out like nobody's business lol
Jeff is really good man. So hard to find a groundsman that skilled. Hope he is paid well.
Enjoyed the video. Nice perspective from Damian's point of view.

Your graphics and clear explanations just keep getting better and better.

6:50 "no, it's you." taht shouldn't have made me laugh as hard as that did. but i appreciate the laugh.

I think I'll try a ditty bag with my Zillon rope. Clean things up a bit.

Hey August, Hey Damien, nice work! And Jeff too!
Nice throws! The El SASINATOR launching limbs like a sniper!

Beautiful work guys. Have a great day.
You guys are ROCK STARZ!! God Bless. 😊
Neat presentation to do two videos showing the same job from two different points of view.

Didn’t realise at first that it was another at perspective from the video the other day. Nice surprise. Thanks guys 👍👍

Looks like August found the car keys the homeowner lost @ 1:28 lol
Like both views nice job guys 👊

Yes you can. It's the same principle as the zigzag. Plus you can use it like an srt configuration and choke off the end of it around a tree.
@@alotl1kevegas860 well you cant use a zigzag srt without a wrench or the chicane
Ikatan Tali gantung yang sangat bagus dan aman
If ya cant do tree work....WATCH TREE WORK😛😛😛
I'm like Mario ima numba one
