I listened to that heel scrape like twelve times. The sharp, gliding sound coming to an abrupt stop creates a sense of precision in-and-of-itself, but it also brings to mind figure-skating and the mastery of an art form through the mastery of the body. Didn't mean for that to sound so pretentious, but I think you probably know what I mean.
Years later, this is still one of the most insanely beautiful music videos of all time.

I always cry when I listen to this song. The part "didn't I do it for you" describes the relationship of me and my mother perfect. My whole life I always tried to be the perfect daughter for her but it was never enough. I never got any love or attention from her. I still would do anything to hear a simple "I'm proud of you" or " I love you" from her even tho i know she will never say it. Watching all the other girls with their mothers will always break my heart.

It came from having a public relationship as a celebrity. Hence, the title of the song: "Cellophane." Their relationship is "all wrapped up in cellophane..." A thin, see-through plastic. People can analyze it and scrutinize because a lot of it is public.

I found this song fall 2019. After a really bad break up. The whole drama surrounding her and RP is incredibly heartbreaking. I love this song, it’s always there when I need it and it’s such a beautiful video and song. a lot of people are picking sides on the whole montero “copying” thing but I think it’s really interesting to examine how they use the same imagery (teasing heaven then falling to hell) and similar visuals to portray such different meanings. like this video (along with the song ofc) is sad and intimate. it feels almost voyeuristic to watch, and relies on the audiences understanding of the traditional concepts of heaven and hell to symbolize and portray emotions. montero is about reclaiming the concept of hell, playing with that which is used to punish and control people. it leans into campy and is much more fun and light. I think they’re both really interesting, and their similarities actually help to juxtapose their deeper meanings

4 years later and the emotion that this song still conjures is truly amazing and insurmountable.
6 years ago I used to sit in the dark, heartbroken, listening to this song on repeat for hours. I thought I would never rid myself of that deep ache in my chest, but I was fascinated by the fact that the beat of this song, the lyrics, the expression, EVERYTHING matched so perfectly to how I felt. It was oddly comforting knowing that I wasn’t the only one feeling this way. I still think of that time of my life and find myself filled with gratitude that I’ve grown out of those circumstances and become a woman capable of change and evolution. I can never thank twigs enough for contributing to that, she will have my love for eternity.

@@aztre just to play devils advocate I feel like he gave a pretty honest response. He said they were just trolls who are obviously investing themselves in putting others down. He did mention that if it was on the street it would be different but when its a random person on the internet there's not really much you can do but ignore the troll (by paying attention you're just feeding it)

I did read that ahe started out her career as a ballet dance..so that may have helped..jlo trained to use a stripper pole for her movie Hustlers but only for a month or so. A year would not be needed to learn.
