I’d catch the sea trout when I was off shore on an oil platform, and land one out of three whole fish. The sight feeders under the platform would hit them on the way up and bite them in half. They are just the wrong color to be swimming around among the bigger fish.
Got really lucky there! I knew you were getting a ticket for sure with how long he was taking. Nice trout too! Merry Christmas and hope your 2022 is stellar.

Not for sure about being sealed, but my Shimano Curado's have held up for a long time (with proper care and rinsing) in the salt. May be work looking at the Shimano Tranx as well.
Make no mistake about it, while these Troopers were nice and were pretending to be your best friend, their whole purpose is to try to catch you doing something wrong to generate revenue to justify their job. I understand you being polite and asking them if they want to be on camera, but you should video every incident with police or game wardens. They lie to you, or lie in court and it's your word vs theirs and guess who the judge is going to believe. I had a game warden threaten me when I was 11 or 12 for getting my grandfather a bucket to put fish in while trout fishing. Turns out a game warden was watching him snag trout and he had over the limit. The game warden was hiding in the woods and snuck out to the truck where he got me one on one and threatened to make sure I didn't get my hunter's permit next year if I didn't tell the warden that none of the fish were mine and tell on my grandfather. I had another instance when I was hunting a management area and had killed a small 8 point. My buddy helped me drag the deer out and we were parked 10 feet from the closed road walked in on. I took the magazine out of my gun, ejected the shell. and out of habit just popped the mag back in because I had a hole in my pocket. The game warden drove in right before we crossed the berm dragging the deer. He asked to see our licences and we showed them to him. He then said let me check your guns. I handed it to him and saw the magazine in the gun and you could see the excitement in his eyes. 10 feet from where it was fine to have a loaded gun, he was telling me he was going to write me a fine for having a loaded gun on an open road. My buddy was defending me but the game warden would have none of it. It was then that I pulled out my Georgia Weapons permit and showed it to him and he was pissed off, because he knew it was legal for me to have a loaded weapon on me anywhere, even on an open hunting road. He then snapped at me 'next year they are fix that wording and loophole, because that's only supposed to be for handguns only'.. I said 'well good me for it's not next year, huh?' He walked away with his tail between his legs because I was completely legal and there was nothing he could do to either of us. When he walked away, my friend just started cackling at how fast that warden changed tunes and took the loss in a big way. Point is, never assume that just because you are being nice they will not try everything in their power to throw you under the jail.
Damn you must have not gotten good experiences. There will always be bad eggs but every encounter with game wardens me and my family have had I have never gotten that feeling or seen from their actions that they wanted to manipulate for their benefit or what have you that you were saying.
@@BarSpringOutdoors The first interaction as a kid was what started to shape my opinion, but after more and more encounters, I just don't trust game wardens and DOT officers. What do both have in common? They don't have to abide by the 4th and 5th amendments like normal law enforcement, the game warden can enter your property without a search warrant. They can enter you boat or commercial motor vehicle for inspection at any time without reasonable articulate suspicion. That leads to officers who would normally be concerned with making sure they step on people's rights getting to do just that and they are encouraged to do that. When you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail. We do have a really good game warden here in North Georgia, Casey Jones, and he was the Georgia officer of the year a few years back.
General note to anyone You have the right to remain silent. AKA shut the f up. L.E.O. never drops in to be social. And most cases depend on evidence you give them. And unfortunately most give it freely.
Even though I am I big supporter of LEO's with several family members in that field, you would be surprised at how many of them to not follow the laws that they preach about (including said family members). Every cop I know violates traffic laws when in their personal vehicle. On traffic court day, I can catch many state troopers especially, rolling through the stop sign near the courthouse in their state cruisers. One day, six of them in a row rolled right through the stop sign before they turned into the parking lot to park and go to traffic court. After years of witnessing this, I finally decided to ask them about it. As they were entering the building I asked "are any of you here for contested stop sign violations today?" They just looked at me. I said "if I were contesting a ticket, I would stand out their on the corner and film all six of you rolling through the stop sign". They were not happy and did not respond, just scowled at me. My uncle was a FL state trooper and everywhere he went he drove 10-20 mph over the speed limit. I use to love to ride with him when I was a kid. The few times he got pulled over, just a flash of his Lt. badge and we were off again. Those were the good ole days lol
@@bransonred1 1 of my neighborhood local bar hopping groups included a state trooper. He was ALWAYS DESIGNATED driver going home. Never worried even a little.
All the enforcers(LEO) in our country are part of a paramilitary organization that DOES NOT WORK FOR THE PEOPLE, they work for the corporations that hired them. Their loyalty is to the corporation that pays them, and their blue line gang members. Yes, you pay their salaries with your tax dollars that the corporate government steals from you. But, they don't work for us. They're enforcers of/for the ruling class, and nothing more than paid mercenaries. No matter how unconstitutional the whims and whimpers of the ruling class declare, the enforcer class will enforce it on us, even if it means to brutalize, torture, hospitalize and/or murder us to make us obey it. These enforcers are the standing army our forefathers warned us about. All enforcers will violate your/our rights in a heartbeat. There's no law, code, edict, whim, or whimper, of the ruling class, that the enforcer class will not extort, arrest, brutalize, torture, hospitalize, and/or murder you for, even if it's made up in the enforcers head. There's only one way things will ever change. "We the people", have been peacefully protesting for generations, and we've been voting for change in every election, and nothing is ever different. Every day we lose more and more of our rights, freedoms, and liberties'. They will never give our rights back to us, and will continue to take them away, one by one until they're all gone. We live in a police state worse than in 1930's Germany, and it's becoming more and more tyrannical and oppressive by the day. There is only one way we can get them back as history has told, over and over again. We will have to take our rights back by FORCE like we did between 1775-1782. And fought again in 1812-1815 when the British came back. No tyrannical government in the history of the earth has ever given their people freedom and liberty. The people had to destroy the people in power(Ruling class), and their enforcers (Enforcer class), to win their freedom and liberty. Our government will never give back that which they have stolen. The "Declaration of Independence" gives us the reason, power, duty, and ability, to reclaim our liberty and freedom.
We had an interaction with an AL water trooper this winter wjile fishing with a local guide up in the bay. It seems that he was displeased that we were fishing on the edge of the channel ( we were the only boat anywhere around). The guide told him that he'd been fishing there for thirty years and wasnt aware it was a problem. Short story, we moved, apologized and the young Trooper motored off to battle more evildoers. Lol
When I go out with folks I always give them a safety briefing and emphasize that everyone is responsible for the safety of the boat and passengers. I always keep the air horn within arms reach of the helm and it has prevented several collisions by distracted boaters.
What a shakedown!! You are the most legally conscious person on the water. I know its their job but they always seem to pick the most legal people. You are definitely law abiding.
This was a great reminder and might have triggered some of us to do a self safety check to avoid not being prepared. It will just impress the heck out of our enforcement guys when you have all your stuff in order. Thanks to them and you. Merry Christmas 🎄
Stopped for probable cause is fine. Write warnings or tickets. I still have issue with any cops boarding a boat without a warrant. The government decided to grant itself permission to violate the 4th amendment. They claim they need to enforce vessel 'documentation laws' and that boats are different from cars so they need to board them. They keep expanding on this violation for safety inspections. How about having an annual safety inspection at a local marina - just like cars go to a garage to have an annual safety inspection?
When a cop says “Im filming you too” well theyre not, they are only carrying the device, the filming is done by the camera and that footage belongs to the people, unfortunately there are those in the higher ranks who understand this and will delete, hide, object to release and sometimes even destroy it.
In 30+ boating and fishing all over New Zealand years I have only once been asked by fisheries officers if they could come aboard for an inspection.. Yes they must get permission and only to inspect the fish but usually they hang out at the ramps and they target the dodgy folks. Licences are not required for fishing, the boat doesn't need to be registered and it is perfectly legal to drink alcohol. Life jackets must be worn in small boats when underway and then at the discretion of the captain. But. If you stuff up the maritime police can prosecute but it has to be serious. It's a self policing system and it works. Police will never stop you unless you are blatantly or dangerously breaking a speed restriction or being a total ass but you usually never see them anyway. Coastguard you pay to belong to or they will save anyway if you ask. They tow you home basically They're the good guys. have no legal power but watch out for the Harbourmasters, they have egos like you wouldn't believe but you can tell them to eff off and just drive away. They're toothless but might call the cops but usually the cops don't care about them because they know they're dickheads.
man stop making crap up.. just looked it up and here you go... "Everyone, of any age, must carry a valid New Zealand Sports Fishing Licence with them (or be named on a family licence with the primary licence holder present) when fishing for sports fish in New Zealand." people like you make others believe stupid shit that gets them in trouble all because you dont know what laws where you fish and dont really care to learn them...
@@jarrodpitts5632 That is only for fresh water trout fishing. The fish are bred and released into the waterways. The licence fees go to pay for that. It is the only fish one needs a licence for, you can pick one up for the day. You need to read up more than the headlines child. But hey. Trout taste like mud so I don't care for them.
I love Specks, in the early 70's I would catch them almost every cast. No limits back then. Many of the small bayou's off Choctawhatchee Bay around Niceville were full of them. A few Redfish and Silver Trout. I miss the Fishing, land locked in the Rocky Mtns since the Army. Great videos.
Treat law enforcement with a little courtesy and they might cut you a break, like here. Years ago I was running a yacht after repairing an engine for a guy and didn't realize I was making too large a wake in the ICW. Was stopped by Florida Marine Patrol (now FWC). I didn't act like an idiot so, instead of a ticket, I had to take a boating safety class from the USCGAux. Ended up joining them and eventually taught classes. Safety isn't something to take lightly.
Hi ! They would need a search warrant, they're not fishing, game or department of natural resources which doesn't need a search warrant. They're search warrant is when you sign up ,your fishing license gives them permission to do anything they want. You lose a lot of your rights when you sign that
I like the fact that you answered his statements with, "Yes Sir," I think half the people I stopped don't know how to respectful talk to a law enforcement officer.
I’m a big fan of the slow jig technique for trout like you were doing. Got a kick out of the “good cop bad cop” approach for the officers-but there’s enough buffoonery out on the water it’s good to see them out there doing their job. Merry Christmas!
Hey bama saltwater! Just wondering, was the ultra light setup recommendation from me? Because I remember recommending it, anyways. I hope you have a great Christmas with your family and I hope you keep making great content like this!
That was good. More about awareness and education than display of power. Life jacket whenever big motor is running. Fire extinguisher….meh, gotta check that!
On fire extinguishers, ABC dry powder units, the powder must be loose inside. Packed powder is totally USLESS. Check by tilting horizontally for the movement of powder. If no movement tap on all sides with a rubber mallet till movement is achieved.
You should get a Fell Marine MOB kill switch system I have one and use the neck lanyard xFOB put it on when I leave my house and always protected on the boat super nice .
Wait, the State Police told you that you are required to wear a flotation device anytime the motor is in operation. They had their motor in operation when they pulled along side of you. Where were their flotation devices?
It was good to see what went on between you and the troopers. It was professional on both sides. That showed that they are not there to just meet a quota and give a ticket. They are doing their job with safety inspections and explaining what is happening. Good job on your part and theirs!
●●● Might want to think about attaching your fishing license, cell phone, etc. to a short piece of foam "swimming noodle", when handing it over to LEO's. Just using a couple rubber bands or a short lanyard should suffice. 10-cents worth of pool noodle and a couple rubber bands could make the difference between your cellphone floating or sinking. Just a thought.
You need to try out Deathgrip Jig heads. Razor sharp lasting hooks and the life you get out of plastics is insane. The design of the lead keeps the head small and the plastic will never slide down the hook. Try them out you will not be disappointed

General note to anyone
You have the right to remain silent.
Dude, please seek help.
see how that interaction went when your courteous and professional both parties have a pleasant experience non hostile.
Lol
Good idea from the officer to make sure your passengers know where all the safety equipment is as well.
Always, usually the first thing I tell someone when they get on the boat haha. Cause ya never know when something might happen.
Very Nice of them, good holiday spirit...I guarantee I would be shutting it down hundreds of yards out now
You handled that well.
Appreciate it ! I like to leave the arguing and "he said/she said', if it came down to it, for the court room! Thank you for watching.
Fishing buddy’s are for ever stay.safe!
New Zealand sounds really cool,😁
man stop making crap up.. just looked it up and here you go...
@@killdizzle Bullshit.
@@frankdesbaux ty for proving what he stated was wrong... saying you dont need a license makes many think you dont need a license at all...
NEVER ask government agent for permission of “if they mind” being on camera.
"OK, you're gud to go. Ima just stand here and pose..."
Cop was tweakin balls lol
I love Specks, in the early 70's I would catch them almost every cast. No limits back then. Many of the small bayou's off Choctawhatchee Bay around Niceville were full of them. A few Redfish and Silver Trout. I miss the Fishing, land locked in the Rocky Mtns since the Army. Great videos.
Awesome, thanks for sharing your experiences
Pulling alongside with no bumpers speaks volumes...
Crazy luck, dropping your hard card in the drink (need a lanyard for it too ! 🤣).
Love your new boat BTW.
IKR, lol it sunk fast. And thanks, I do too!
Retired law enforcement here! Thanks for the respect to the troopers. Love you videos
Thank you!
Respect is earned not demanded. Our employees need to get that through their heads nowadays.
Surprised they didn't want to look in your fish box
Ikr, they could’ve cared less about the fish it seemed haha
Hi ! They would need a search warrant, they're not fishing, game or department of natural resources which doesn't need a search warrant. They're search warrant is when you sign up ,your fishing license gives them permission to do anything they want. You lose a lot of your rights when you sign that
Yup, they’ll get there though. Just watch.
I'd love to have that State Trooper boat, that thing looked awesome. .
This actually opened my mind as to how important those safety measures are.
Lol
I like the fact that you answered his statements with, "Yes Sir," I think half the people I stopped don't know how to respectful talk to a law enforcement officer.
I’m a big fan of the slow jig technique for trout like you were doing. Got a kick out of the “good cop bad cop” approach for the officers-but there’s enough buffoonery out on the water it’s good to see them out there doing their job. Merry Christmas!
Love that Gold Alabama badge!!! Where can I get one of those??
MY BAD !!!!
They had a reason to stop you !!!!
Not just the random inspection
Pirates. Modern day pirates
Great fishing video with some nice trout
Thank you!
Those Troopers were nice. Love them boys from the South!
Hey bama saltwater! Just wondering, was the ultra light setup recommendation from me? Because I remember recommending it, anyways. I hope you have a great Christmas with your family and I hope you keep making great content like this!
Yeah man ! It was, thanks. It was pretty cool I was able to land a nice fish on it too. Thank for watching and You Too!!
That was good. More about awareness and education than display of power. Life jacket whenever big motor is running. Fire extinguisher….meh, gotta check that!
You know what's funny. Every fish is so beautiful. Could be uglier then terd but it's beautiful lol.
On fire extinguishers, ABC dry powder units, the powder must be loose inside. Packed powder is totally USLESS. Check by tilting horizontally for the movement of powder. If no movement tap on all sides with a rubber mallet till movement is achieved.
Yup! Learned that in Captain's School
They were talking about having your kill-switch attached.
Do you have to wear your engine cutoff if you have your main engine shut off and trolling motor on?
It was good to see what went on between you and the troopers. It was professional on both sides. That showed that they are not there to just meet a quota and give a ticket. They are doing their job with safety inspections and explaining what is happening. Good job on your part and theirs!
forget the lecture. give me a ticket and be gone
I think 10 minutes into the third kill switch lecture I would have been tempted to ask him to just stop and write me a ticket.
😂😂😂
You need to try out Deathgrip Jig heads. Razor sharp lasting hooks and the life you get out of plastics is insane. The design of the lead keeps the head small and the plastic will never slide down the hook. Try them out you will not be disappointed
Goldeneye hooks are great but deathgrip are in my opinion the best. Lots of people have never heard of them but every one needs to try them out
