The “Folk Dance” opens with a repetition of playful melodies performed with a strong and dancelike rhythmic drive. Pedal point-like creations and a catchy beat in the bassline suggest a pastoral peace, which is repeatedly interrupted by curt intermediate sections and hefty leaps in chords. Two fervid final chords close the piece.
