- I taught this hula at the Cerritos 'Ukulele Festival 2008. When we were pau, we went into the dance studio to share it with dancers from other workshops. My haumana opted to video tape rather than dance so they would have something to practice with since they only had an hour to learn it. Perhaps being able to watch it on www.youtube.com will help.

Gorgeous... Must.learn.this.beautiful.dance. Thank you so much for posting it.
Mahalo nui, I'm an island girl trapped in Ohio and I absolutley loved this, brings me home to the islands..
Beautiful!! Greetings from Holland to all of you!
Mahalo for sharing! First heard this song when visiting home (Oahu) at the Pan Pacific in Waikiki, just this past June. A Kumu hula from Japan danced it and I fell in love with the song. Bought the cd...Hoku is fabulous..and hope to have our kumu choreograph a hula. My congratulations for your version. Absolutely NANI!
I love this song
Mahalo Ku'ulei for your kind words! Hoku Zuttermeister's voice and Uncle Kawaikapuokalani's mele are the perfect blend for any hula! I truly appreciate your compliment!
Very beautiful hula danced to a beutiful mele, such a story in the mele!

wow that is beautiful
Mahalo Aunty Wanda for watching the video! Yes - it's a classic romance. Uncle Kawaikapuoklani included one of my favorite parts of the story (Verse 3 / Ua lohe paha) with Malio playing her ka pu lau'i (ti-leaf trumpet) to woo La'ieikawai for her brother. =)
Mahalo ia 'oe! =) He la maika'i i ka ho'olaule'a 'ukulele ma Cerritos!
