      I just hope Switzerland doesn't follow Denmark's lead in taxing farmers on the methane output of their animals....

      @@theShepherdess I'm so glad that you are young and taking adventures. I'm 54 and haven't ventured outside of the US yet. I just started traveling the US, now that my children are grown. I hope to go overseas as soon as I can.
      Happy traveling, and God be with you as you do!

    I'm probably repeating myself, but what a magnificent experience!
    I imagine there are a few cheese varieties you will be experimenting with when you get back!
    Thank you for these videos and the work you do!

      You are definitely right about the cheese - thinking of sidelining one of my Dorpers to see if I can't make a milker out of her! Haha!

    Thank you for such a beautiful intro to shepherding in the Swiss Alps! Just got into katahdins a couple years ago. Working with one ram and two ewes. Selling the lambs every season. Keeping it small for now as I am also raising two dairy heifers that just turned a year old. We are a 5 acre homestead in Ocala Florida. Getting my rotational grazing started to see how productive 5 acres can be before going in too big with livestock. Your videos hVe been so inspiring and helpful.

    How many sleep were in the herd coming through the town of Juan? 224 is my guess.

    • @theShepherdess
      @theShepherdess  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I would guess around 500-800! Sheep really pack in tight when you have them in a close group like that :).

    Good evening, my ewes have just given birth. I would like to know what food you recommend I give them to help the mother. They are twins! I am in Washington, thank you. I have Dorper sheep’s

      Alfalfa pellets are great! Your local farm store may also sell a sheep feed which will work well as a short term supplement.
