Chain of Memories is definitely one of the weaker games in the Kingdom Hearts series due to its poor design choices, no doubt about it, but I wouldn't necessarily pan it as one of the worst games ever created. On my seven tier scale from S to F, I would give it either E Tier (Bad) or D Tier (Mediocre). As for my rating from 0 to 20, I would give it a 7/20.
Re:com is not my favorite kh game, and I haven't even f8nshed kh2 yet, so so far, re com is my least favorite. Also, you are welcome for the 358/2 days cards
Honestly, I hate it. The card system was a bad idea. I mean, it's different, but not in a good way. Also, the 0 cards? They're way too risky. They break any attack, BUT the enemy can just immediately break it after you break their attacks. Also Captain hook? Screw that fight. All in all, I'd give this game a 2/10.
For the enemy card farming, you get a small chance for one to drop off the last enemy you defeat in battle and it will always be the card of said enemy There are 3 cards that increase the odd by quite a lot, almighty darkness teeming darkness and looming darkness
I am so glad someone else gets it. This games core gameplay feels so restricted for so long. It ruins the whole game for me. You explain it way better than I can. I am currently trying to 100% it and I am gonna be so happy when I am done. I wanted to complete all the games I could before KH 4 Also wanted to say for the Tigger bounce mini game. A notepad and pencil/pen is enough from what I can tell from what you showed me is he jumps rather slowly.
"That design choice that limits my combat abilities; yeah that's limited by *blank* too, which only increases after *blank*". "And let's say you don't wanna deal with all that, right?". "The cards(stickers) all do a set amount of damage-- no real sense of progression; you just get more cards(stickers)". "--Because get this; cards(stickers) aren't just used in battle--". "Both options are a waste of time, but at least one's a little faster". "And here is the absolute worst part about the cards(stickers)". I know I'm not the only one who noticed Tony's rant about the card system may have been inspired by Charrii5's rant about Paper Mario Sticker Star's Sticker system. Whether that was intentional or not, I don't care enough to comment on it; both rants was both necessary and fun to listen to 😂
Just hearing your description of the game sounds mortifying. I definitely hope you get a well-deserved break after trudging through this. A fair tip when you do decide to play KH II, the Tutorial goes on for about 30-45 minutes when playing NORMALLY. Guaranteed, that’s a pretty well-known factor in the KH community, but I’m just warning you in case you’ve (somehow) managed to avoid spoilers. Sorry if I sounded condescending when I wrote this, I’m really not trying to if I did.
3:11 THIS IS LITERALLY THE BATTLE SYSTEM FOR PAPER MARIO STICKER STAR! 6:43 And THIS is literally the Paperize ability from Sticker Star also replace map cards with Thing Stickers and you can see why people hate that game and its battle system 🤣
41:39 You're right. Paper Mario: Color Splash was better. Paper Mario: Color Splash is also overhated like Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Mario Party 9, and Mario Party 10
I gave the OST a listen and yeah, Re:CoM's OST rearranged the MIDI tracks of KH1, only with real instruments instead of soundfonts. Also, Rikuplica doesn't have a heart. He's a copy made with Riku's memories, but nothing more. Namine releasing his true memories did briefly incapacitate him, but he got back up.
Haven’t completed the game yet. Currently I’m after the first Riku replica fight and the game is okay. I got used to the card system and the story is pretty good but man the boss fights suck! They’re either unfair or so easy. The boss lineup is way worse than the first game and it really brings the game down. Edit:Finished Sora’s story and overall I do think that the game is okay. The cards is good and even though it’s not perfect, it’s a different way to play the game and I like it, the story is great in my opinion and though convoluted,I loved the characters and the story and even though it’s a bit repetitive, I’m happy that they attempted to make the worlds a little different but the game isn’t perfect, even though it’s a little different, It’s still repetitive to go through the worlds and the card system does have problems which I won’t mention because you already have and the bosses are still horrible! I had to use a guide to beat the late game bosses! That shows how horrible the bosses are! I will give my overall thoughts when I beat Riku’s story but currently the game is okay.
I do still like the game. But i can understand about the whole card system thing not being good and i can agree with that. But tbh im surprised you didnt say anything about Vexen, Axel, and Larxene can be healed if you hit them with the magic that they are using. I learned that one the hard way.
I learned about that myself too, and it didn’t bother me because it felt natural. Fire user is immune to fire. Ice user is immune to ice. Like, that makes sense.
Thats true. I also felt like the game could have been better if they give it more time on the whole card system thing and some improvements here and there. And i also agree with Marluxia boss fight and Larxene being annoying in general.
Am I the only one who was actually fine with the card system in Chain of Memories, considering that both Disney and YuGiOh got me into this series? Seriously, this was my first game into the series, and to be specific, the original GBA version.
@@tonysonic456 I think you can hear it a bit better at 8:36. I don’t know if that’s just me or not. But I do hear some phone notification sound effect there.

In my case, yes. I'm pointing out what I view as problems with a game's story and gameplay while also giving praise to the good parts. In other cases, well, they tend to differ. GamingSins and GCN are kind of reviewing games just in a mostly negative sense. Dartigan is in denial, and Charriii... Well, Charriii is Charriii.
Edward Bear is actually the name Pooh originally went by when he was first introduced in a story called When We Were Very Young made in 1924. He adopted the name Winnie the Pooh two years later.
Rikuplica? did you use the name that "he-who-shall-not-suposed-to-be-named-in-this-chanel-again"did? did you also saw his terrible KH videos and his convoluted way of explaining things?
I don't think I can view cards the same way again after this game. Anyways, how do you feel about Re:Chain of Memories?
