Thanks for this video!! My brother moved to Spain in 2020 and was able to get residency before the brexit cut off because we are dual citizens of Canada and England.
I’m currently living in Mexico and I want to live in Stiges with my brother.

Just found your channel - going to binge watch - was initially drawn in by your videos about toasty (since that's what I want to do when I retire next year) but then saw that you've moved to Spain - I'm also planning to walk the Camino next year; walked the last 100 km in 2018 loved the experience & love Spain so these videos entice me to dream a bit - hummm maybe a possibility - few questions please 1. I will fully qualify for a non lucrative visa but may be thinking of starting a You Tube Channel - is this permitted or is it looked at as a form of working by the Spanish gov? 2. Is it hard to find apartments in Santiago de Comp. ? I loved the vibe of being in a university city but don't know if I'd enjoy relocating there . 3. Are you taking Spanish lessons? 4. What's your actual cost of living monthly?
    Thanks

As a holder of the Spain Non-Lucrative Visa, you are classified as a tax resident after spending more than 183 days per year in the country. This status implies that you are subject to Spanish taxes on your worldwide income. The tax rate for income, including pensions, starts at 19% for EU residents and 24% for non-EU residents. Tax rates may vary for other forms of income.
    Key points:
Tax residency: More than 183 days in Spain per year.
Income tax: Starting at 19% for EU, 24% for non-EU.
Capital gains: A minimum of 19% on worldwide income.
You must file an annual tax return if you meet the tax residency criteria. You may also be liable for wealth tax, depending on your assets and the specific autonomous community where you reside.

Hi, I have two questions that many would also benefit from an answer and few videos talk about:
    1. If you are already a permanent resident in Spain and at this point you are just renewing your resident visa every five years, do you still need to have a certain amount of money in the bank to meet IPREM requirements ?? 2nd, if you become a Spain citizen does that still require you to have a certain amount of money in the bank and are yearly taxes incurred with the citizenship perk ?

Awesome questions. Honestly, I'm not sure about the IPREM requirements for permanent residence renewal, but I imagine that you have to meet some minimum requirement. I'd be surprised if you didn't. Citizenship is a whole other thing that we haven't looked into deeply, but my understanding is that once you become a citizen, you're treated like any other Spaniard. You have access to all government programs (like healthcare) and there are no more minimums or requirements to remain. You are Spanish.

If you both did the NLV for Spain, how are you still earning money with affiliate links and your buy me a coffee page? I thought the NLV was retirement visa - meaning 'non-working'.

Affiliates are considered royalty and non-lucrative work.

Nothing on a person from the US and Spanish taxes. I suspect that tax rates are very high....40% or so....how is that an advantage? Without knowing the tax rules, nothing else is important.

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

There are tax treaties so that you are not paying double tax. Yes, the taxes are higher in Spain but if you do not want to pay the taxes, then there are other places to live.

Does owning a fully paid home (no mortgage), count as financial means to support yourself in Spain? I own a home in Houston and own a business too. Looking to move my family of 3.

Absolutely. That’s why we like Marina. She’s super transparent about pricing. We spent less doing it ourselves, but the difference wasn’t that much because we made some mistakes with translations and unnecessary documents. It’s always worth talking to a pro if you’re worried or confused about the process.

If you are a US citizen with no "special" problems it is easy to yourself. Just get your FBI apostile sone first as it may take 3 months to get it back. From the time of submission to approval was 21days.

21 days is really great! For some people it can be fairly straightforward. For others, it's more complicated and they want some help. Thanks for watching.
