Been using ezmix for about 2 years. For someone that just wants to write a song and throw it on youtube with out studying mixing and mastering for fucking years this is a god send. Now if they only had a plugin to help me play better lol.
I been a EZMix2 user and man, it's great! But that was when I was beginning at mixing. Nowadays I know more about the craft and I prefer shaping my sound myself but as you said, no one cares if I know, the only important thing is how it sounds in the end.
Long-time channel watcher, occasional commenter. This program is awesome. I bet people think it can't be good because it is so simple. Wrong. The presets are useful, adjustable, and at your finger tips. I often A/B it against other dedicated plug-ins - never surprised it works frequently. And the guitar and bass sims are very good too.
Yes sir. I don't know why, but people often get offended when a plugin makes something easy to do. Doing less work and spending less money to achieve the sound you want is smart.
I've done the same. Sometimes I like my plugin settings better but other times their settings are excellent and are a quick way to get the sound you want to hear. The hidden benefit is also to use these as reference settings. You can actually learn by using ez mix as the reference and then dialing in what you want instead from other plugins. As you can't see how they set the gear to achieve their settings, you learn how your own plugins or gear works to get that sound. This gives a bit more confidence if the room you mix in is crap. As most of us are at home with minimal to no acoustic treatment, this can be a huge advantage to the hobbiest or even pro who needs to get something together quick.
EZMix2 has always been my first choice for pre-prod..and this video is a home run in my opinion! Thanks for sharing cool ways to use this program that I wasnt even aware of... This channel Rules!!!
Stumbled on EZMix 2 whilst on the never-ending quest to find decent guitar sims. Pleasantly surprised by the flexibility and quality of the sims with the various amp expansion pass.
So the packs do Not include any aditional fx plugins, but Only settings chains made by professionals right?.This means i can make "almost" the same chain right?without spending any aditional money.Right? What the packs offer is just aditional parameters settings and thats all.If you are knowing how the industry sounds like, you are set the parameters to make the sound you want.
I feel this still has use even with how far we have come with software and plugins. The drawback I will say and just my opinion Is the guitars. I wish you could change out the Impulse responses. If you were in a pinch and needed to do a quick mix for a client or just want to pump tracks out then this is perfect.
So I have an albums worth of songs on reason studios. I was just wondering If ez mix is compatible with reason. I’m self taught on everything in my studio so if I can get a better mix and master out without hiring someone, this would save me so much trouble
I haven't used Reason in a long time. Is it compatible with VST plugins? If so, EZMix should work. You can try it for free first to make sure it works www.toontrack.com/ezmix-2-try-it-free/
Thanks man!! Yeah I downloaded it but it only gave me 15 mins to play with it. Not quite sure how to get a song on it yet though so I’ll have to get some notes ready since I’m rushed with it. Any quick tips? I’ll try again soon and do some research and let you know If I get it. Thanks again though for the link and response
@@ryanrobinson4072 if you want remix the tracks as a whole you'd add a preset as an effect to the main mix channel, otherwise you could go track by track. Reason just added vst 3 support last week!
If one wants to use DeEssing and delay on a vocal track (multiple effects) does one need to create multiple instances of Ezy Mix on that one track or can it be done with one instance?
Is there a way to add multiple presets to say one vocal track so you want compressor, de-esser and delay but without adding multiple instances of ezmix?
Nice video. Is it possible to load a midi file, or sound file written in a midi (or anything like that), to work as a guitar file? Instead of playing the instrument, drawing the line? Something like an 'EZguitar' ?
Does this have options in the drums for working with a whole kit rather than individual drums? When we're demoing, my band are using programmed midi drums, and obviously the whole kit is on one channel there - I'd like to be able to bring the kick out a bit more without messing about in Slate or EzDrummer or whatever. I have thought about splitting at least the kick and snare out from the rest of the midi and having those on their own tracks so that I can work on those more granularly, but ultimately because I'm only using it for demoing and someone else will take care of the final mixes, I don't care enough to spend loads of time messing with it - I just want the best demos we can get with the least effort possible.
Question - If I want multiple instances of Ez mix on a vocal track, how do you do that? For example, need a de esser, then need reverb for the same track, how is this achieved in logic? Sends/Bus/Aux? or multiple instances of ezmix on 1 track?
You can probably find a preset that includes all of that in a single preset, but if not, treat it the same way you would individual plugins. Stack 'em up on the inserts, unless your trying to effect several tracks at once, then a bus.
@@BenoniStudio Gotcha! I thought it was a mixing tool. The name is misleading. I dont need presets for my instruments. Was just looking for something to help me mix my songs.
It is a neat idea. But i like the idea of just having the best sounding VSTi's that do the work for you then minimal mixing and mastering is needed. I just throw some Waves plugins on my master and it's good. SSL master bus compressor is amazing, i am sure you know that tho. I just started following your page recently after finding your videos about streaming DAW. I have still not tried ASIO link pro. but i am sure it will still give me the same issue... I can play my guitar along with my projects fine while live streaming, But when i route my audio out of my DAW into windows then into OBS well my monitoring of my guitar coming out of reaper must be off a hair, I cannot record my guitar with proper synch while live streaming, it is always off a hair and just doesn't' work... I am currently running the FL ASIO, my SSL2 interface goes input and output goes to sound card audio.. then in OBS you can pick up Application Output Audio capture with that new OBS plugin called Win-capture-audio... it works great for making songs live all my vsti synch up but the guitar i just cannot record while live streaming... It does synch up for playing along to the audio but I believe that is because eveyrthing is off by a hair going out thru the windows audio... cuz when i record my guitar it's off by a few ms. anyway... quick question sorry for all the text here.. .but If I get that setup with a 2nd interface looping back into the pc will that fix this? because then DAw monitoring will be coming out the back of my SSL2 interface right... so then strereo cables back into a Nice mixer USB then pick up the mixer in OBS as an input..? then i can just use my headphones from my interface for precise guitar monitoring and recording while live streaming... sorry... you're my only hope obi wan... Another interface will solve your latency problems. But another solution would be to get an interface with Loopback built in, like the Focusrite 18i8, Evo 4/8, Audient iD14, and others.
@@BenoniStudio ok thanks, I see you have a video on looping back with interface, i just bookmarked it for later when I can afford one. I currently use the SSL2. Thanks for the good videos tho, I like your plugin reviews too.
That's the point. Limited control. If you don't like the sound of one preset, instead of adjust a bunch of parameters, just choose another preset where those changes have already been done for you. If there were tons of controls they would have to change the name to DifficultMix 2, and I doubt that would be appealing to folks 🤣

Well it wouldn't surprise me if Toontrack came out with EZguitar. EZmix, EZKeys, EZbass, EZdrums....the only thing missing is EZguitar.
Annnd now you have AI Generated songs or isolated stem ideas, tech been a long way for artists and creative hobby's.
Nail on the head. It interrupts the songwriting process when obsessing about multiple tracks.

GREAT TUTORIAL. ONE OF THE BEST IVE EVER SEEN...
What I’m having a issue with is it raises the top end of the vocals making it hard to de-ess
What is that telegraph-like clicking you keep referring to as "a kick"?

I know its been 8 months and you probably figured it out by now but in ez drummer there is a slider that adjusts kick volume.
Can this be used with pro tools first?
awesome review. What expansion packs are good for ezmix 2?
I wonder if anyone can recommend an EZMix 2 add-ins? I've gotten the Amp extensions.

Individual tracks are what make up a full song. There are presets for each instrument in your song and mastering presets for your main out.
