- Eating the most popular food from Cyprus. Everybody here in Cyprus loves this meal, and it is not what you expect. You need to see and try it!
A day in the life in Cyprus, and a lot of adventures and fun things. I am driving to Limassol, fighting with some birds and do other cool things, and then I finish the day with a big and tasty meal.
If you like good, traditional food, then you definitely have to watch this video until the end!
The meal is called Meze, and it is a big mix of a lot of different meals. Salads, appetizers, meat options like souvlaki, sheftalia, halloumi cheese, chips, Greek pita bread and much, much more!
I definitely love the local food and that's why I got a local drink to my halloumi cheese and sheftalia. Let me know what you tried before in the comments!
The team at Meze Traditional Tavern Restaurant in Limassol was very friendly, and they treated me very well. I'm sure they will treat you like that as well. But of course, there are many other traditional taverns that offer local meze.

I never get bored watching your videos they are so good and love everything thank you for your hard work so we can see what is like to live in Cyprus
we need more awesome videos like this. its like live a day in Cyprus.
Thanks for the feedback, yes I actually enjoy making such outdoor videos a lot! Happy to hear people like watching them. Thank you!🙂
We had a Cypriot restaurant here in Philadelphia but sadly, it is no more. It was one of my favorite restaurants and I so miss the grilled halloumi cheese and the sheftelia. While similar, there are some differences between Greek and Cypriot cuisine. Cypriot tends to be a little spicier and some of the dishes are quite unique themselves.
As a Greek-Cypriot with many cooks in the family, I love both cuisines but yes they are different in some ways. I think Greek-Cypriot food is richer and has more of a smokey flavor (we love our char-grilled souvla and grilled halloumi) whereas Greek food has a more fresh and herby flavor and is more diverse. Meats and veggies are fresher and tastier here in Cyprus but Greece has more quality seafood, olive oil, and wines. So it's a tie for me.
Thank you Rico.
Every time I visit Cyprus, I have amazing food.
Absolutely, same for me, every day haha! :)
Cypriot proverb:
When you see food, eat, and when you see work, flee.
You're a really nice guy
I enjoy watching your videos
I love Cyprus
I will move there someday soon!
Soon is over. Haven't seen you here.
Amazing - eating Mezes on your own!
Although I’m only on holiday, I’d love to try, but simply couldn’t manage to do it justice on my own! lol ….. 🤗
Congratulations!!
I had the pressure because I was making the video, haha. Thank you!🙂
Sheftalia I discovered are similar to French crepinettes.

Thanks Bruce, I appreciate the comment as well!
Now everyone recognized you haha, I'll salute you as well if i see you in Limassol.
Yes true, a lot of people recognize me these days, and I love it. Always happy to talk to all.🙂

Now everybody will point to you with finger, how dear you eat meze in Cyprus alone and do not invite any friend! :) We try Meze so far only once, it is so big! Nice Video!
They always find something to point fingers at. Where did you eat Meze in Paphos? I like Agora and the Windmill here.
@@Rico I eat at oldest taverna in Paphos, close to harbor area.
@@Dream4Design I will look it up, thanks!
Hi Rico I booked a holiday to Cyprus with my partner from October 10 to October 18, we stay in Pahos, I survived colon cancer last year and I have already gotten a lot from your TH-cam channel in preparation for this holiday. Only I am in a wheelchair myself, this has nothing to do with the cancer but it has been that way since birth. I myself am someone who also likes network. And I would like to know from you if you know wheelchair-friendly restaurants where where we can eat well because I want to use as many of your tips as possible but then we should also be able to reach the locations with My wheelchair, you could perhaps go into the wheelchair friendliness of the island in a video. Keep up the good work, I enjoy watching your videos
Hey Harry, very nice to meet you, and thanks for your comment. I wish you all the best for your holidays here, and I am sure you will enjoy it a lot! Best Regards, Rico.
@@Rico can you tell me some wheelchairfrendly meze restaurants en tell us what we must see and is wheelchair frendly in yhe near future?
pp: my Uncle Eric was from Munich and interned in the war. I lived there 2 times and loved Germany. My Aunt and Uncle were married for over 50 years. So I want a job!! I live in Avgorou
Bravo μπράβο,thank you,σε ευχαριστώ, danke😊
You are welcome!😊
Awesome video man when I will be in Cyprus I will for sure visit that restaurant. What is the address of that chiropractor in Limassol? I will be there in 2 weeks time.
Hey, amazing! You will find the restaurant when you type in "MEZE Taverna Restaurant Limassol" and the Chiropractor is called "Bodywerks Limassol". Have fun and let me know how you liked it!🙂
@@Rico Thanks man.
we should do a meze feast with a bunch of us 'local' expats in pafos.... for your next video!
Cool idea! How is it going? Ready for summer? :)
Yeah let's gather all the video peeps up! :)
Wow. I mean, wow. I was mostly watching your business content and decided to click something that looked a little more "vlog style," and what a surprise. It was an interesting day out in the city, but that Meze meal was more like a challenge. But you made it! (and what a great price!) And it looked amazing. Really amazing.
I feel like I I first saw your channel maybe soon after you first moved there, I think I remember you doing a handstand and walking from the house to the water upside down, but after this meal...maybe no more handstands!
Yes you are correct .Be yourself and enjoy the most
Бывали в этом чудесном месте. Спасибо вам за приятные воспоминания ❤
Which restaurant is this please tell me! Looks very good!
I need to stop watching you eat when I'm hungry 😆. Haha can't believe you ate all the food, and didn't gain any weight haha.
I probably gained 1-2kg that night😄
😆
Your content is great for bringing awareness to people visiting Cyprus 🎉I should be visiting soon...yes when its chilly in Feb...but I live where it's always hot so a little chilliness is welcomed🎉 🎉
Wow an excellent video 🎉🎉🎉
If i have a chance i will visit Meze and try their food .❤❤
I am going today to eat Meze alone!
Let me know how it was!😄🙂
@@Rico haha just came back... I cant move!
@@osifomrygonen Haha, that's how I felt as well. Which tavern have you been to?
@@Rico
konia Tavern, they played live music and the atmosphere was something else, everybody was eating meze, drinking wine, singing, and dancing just the way life should be.
😍❤
Great Vid Rico. Great meze which I will try once I’m back in Cyprus. Hopefully you took multiple doggy bags with all those leftovers. Even too much for 2 persons. Lol on your drone incident with the eagles who felt threatened by a larger motorized bird
Hey Andrew, as I told you, I'll make a video about the food here. And I must say, I really enjoyed it a lot. I enjoy going out and just recording my day very much and it makes me happy to see people enjoy the videos. Either from Cyprus or from other countries across the world. Actually, there wasn't much leftover, I continued to eat for an hour, but I didn't record it anymore.
Yes we discussed that. You would be good at critiquing restaurants and service establishments. I use to in USA as I was in the restaurant/ resort/travel biz. I might try and do it again, but there are so many people out there doing that. You might have the upper hand. You can inform the restaurant in advance which maybe is more of a courtesy or go in unannounced. Food photos can be so colorful. In my opinion try and zoom in closely for each dish and also take some pics for the full table and affect . Good luck!
@@andrewslifestyle2289 Thank you! You can also do that, I'm sure.🙂
I think most restaurants are wheelchair friendly.
Lovely vlog...what is the name of the rooftop cafe?
wow beautiful view
today i must eat greek salad and maze not alone for sure.
Next time - breakfast!
What kind of breakfast or restaurant would you recommend, Rony?
Paphos is your expertise. I trust you)
@@ronyzmiri Haha, okay! :)
@@Ricofor breakfast(brunch actually) DON'T YOU DARE MISS IT when you come to Larnaca..."Edem's yard"!!!
Do I need to bring my jacket there? I will go there next Sunday. I really hoping it will be a sunny day😢.
No, you won't need it anymore. Now it should be sunny until the end of summer. 🙂
Okay great, thank you so much!

Ouzo Plomari 👍
My bet is 224 palm trees.
Cyprus potatoes make THE best chips.
Hi Rico...you taste koupepia dish...homemade by Maroula !
καλή όρεξη!!!!
You didn't say the price! Amazing amount of food, but how much did it cost?
Full meze costs from 18 - 25€ in local standard restaurants
It's a bit like the Arab restaurants in Israel, all the salads that come automatically before the main thing, i love it (but in vegan of course)
Yes true. You are a vegan?🙂
@@Rico yea
Actually, you pronounce it better than Greeks.
Love your videos man I would like to move to Cyprus from the uk but I need finish my IT course first
Thank you! All the best to you and good luck with your course and I'm sure I'll see you in Cyprus if you really want it. :)
Now you know why the Greek girls can get a little on the big side.
Is there any possibility to go somewhere in German and they will say " Food is on the house"
I never tried it, haha, but I actually didn't expect it, so I was surprised as well
Rico I slightly disagree, I worked hard all my life, move to Cyprus then I am going to be homeless soon, aged 65 that to me is sad even though I tried to work hard. What happened?? I have no idea. But when you giving advice to people remember unless your social is paid you get NOTHING! 😭😭
hi can you send me the address to the chiropactor please
