  • The accumulator bracket on the John Deere 1775NT Planter causing the cotton planting to come to a stop all day. The accumulator fell in between the row breaking the row cleaners. After getting the bracket and accumulator back to the shop, Eric and Owen beat and weld the bracket back while Tommy goes to get a hydraulic fitting. Back in the field, they realize the hydraulic fitting is a special metric to standard fitting. Eric and Tommy drive to TriGreen John Deere Equipment in Columbia, TN to get the fitting. After a 3 hour trip, they return to complete the repairs. Eric finally starts planting cotton at 5 pm.

That metric to std thread juncture is due to sourcing "off the shelf" parts from different continents and then matching it all together.
Take this root cause (bracket on accumulator) to add to your after-season repair list to check your other planter(s) as well as more equipment for cracked brackets/gussets/etc as there will be more hiding out there waiting to break in the middle of a busy job. Our hay baler always broke down (especially the knotters) when a field of hay was down and storm clouds gathered on the horizon to the weatherman's surprise -- that's when I learned all the cuss words as a kid.

I know alot of loggers have left jd bc of crazy parts pricing and poor hydraulic lines and routing. They are great at running hydraulic lines that look like spaghetti noodles. Damn shame people spend 500k on a machine and its built like nobody cares bc they know it will sell bc if the paint. I thought they were the best until we ran other machines.

Do those tracks create any kind of vibration like on a bulldozer and speed up metal fatigue?

Not like you think. I found the crack in the winter and totally forgot to fix it. I wouldn’t have a big planter without them. I was losing 12 bushels behind the center of my planter due to the heavy load. The tracks keep the center of the planter from sinking in and making a mess on the ends causing more yield drag.
