    I’m of a like mind Rachel, I get energized by the creative process and have the most fun diving into the unknown and creating as I go and letting the project direct the outcome. Once I seem to have a pattern or plan it’s time to move on the the next exciting creation. Sometimes I find myself completely changing course in the middle of a project and it turns into something new and unexpected.

    I love that you're making a tie journal. Those and ring bound journals are my favorites to make. I've learned that if you cut each page a little wider, you can turn the left edge over and glue it down on the back so then the holes will automatically be reinforced when you punch them through both layers. It just saves you from having to reinforce each hole separately. I also will put a little masking tape on the tip of the jute to help it go through all the holes without fraying and then cut the end off when I'm done, but I like your needle idea, too. Love how your journal turned out! tfs

    FYI... to get the plug out of the crop a dial...it will usually come out if you just turn it over & squeeze it a couple more times, after you take out the book or paper. Hold it upside down and squeeze a few times, and sometimes tap on the desk.

    I'm with you I really enjoy just going with the flow no ideas sometimes just know there's something that I want to make and I just dig in. I find that very relaxing and very rewarding. It's not that I don't follow a particular formula if I'm trying to make something similar to something someone else's made. But I usually only do one of those and then I just go on and do my own thing. I really am a pretty independent kind of journaler as I don't have all the things that other people have so I make it up as I go

    I love working all loosey goosey ! It’s the no plan plan.I wonder how it would work to glue a piece of tea-dyed fabric down to reinforce the holes. If you put it down before you punch holes it would save time. Don’t you love a backseat driver? 😂

    Hi! To make it easier to thread the twine, you could wrap the ends with scotch tape to keep the ends together like a shoelace.

  • @rankinstudios5342
    @rankinstudios5342 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If you put tape around the end of the twine it would thread easier. Also, strong washi tape on both sides of the pages might work to strengthen it for the holes to act as reinforcement. This is a fun project, Rachel!

    I'm going to have to look for some old books with a similar cover, Love this! I usually wing it when I'm making my journals, I'll start with a plan than just go for it. I also like to make my own hole reinforcers - I'll punch the small hole first then use a 1/2" circle punch centered over the small hole. That way I can use scraps or tea dyed paper. Thanks Rachell for your inspirations!

    I was looking at my growing collection of small covers with badly damaged spines just yesterday, wishing for ideas on what to do with them. Thank you for your answer! I will use the Shakespeare one to make a journal to track my reading list, and one of the others to note down ideas for projects I want to try in the future. As far as doing things randomly, my intention is always to follow instructions, but I never seem to totally follow through. Almost unconsciously, I change things up until they are a slightly different thing. I have not been disappointed with the outcome, but it is slightly like expecting a panther but giving birth to a leopard. Don't apologize for your banging and drilling. I still have my ongoing roofing to contend with so I can't tell the difference. It's construction in stereo, but it keeps me awake.
